Blue Bulls snatch the win at the death from Griquas

The Blue Bulls tarnished Griquas' unbeaten run in this years Currie Cup with a late try that broke the hearts of the Kimberley locals. Scoring four tries to three, the Blue Bulls won 25-24 in another entertaining match.

Griquas hadn't been beaten in five outings this year, so they were feeling confident against the traditionally more powerful side from Pretoria.

They held the ascendency for large parts of the match, but it was Pedrie Wannenburg's late try that snatched the win for the Blue Bulls.

"Hopefully this victory will mark a turn in our season for us," said Blue Bulls captain Derick Kuun after the match.

"We knew it was going to be difficult to come down to Kimberley and defeat them. They are the leading team in the Absa Currie Cup and they deserve to be. We knew we had to be at our best in order to beat them. So hopefully we’ll take this win and move forward from here in the competition.

"There are still lots of games left in the Absa Currie Cup, but hopefully this result will set us up nicely for the second round in the competition."

I almost cant believe RD is posting something about SA rugby. Normaly just NZ or AU.

Dumb thing to say Kabous, considering RD is actually South African.. and anything but biased.

Easy Kabous. I've always thought that RD is South African but never biased, even during the Lions tour.

Completely unrelated to anything but would anyone like to tell me what the new rules are about the tackler playing the ball and if there are any other new ones I should know about?!?

No new 'laws' for the tackler. There is a new directive though that allows the first arriving player to pick up the ball even if an opposition joins 'forming a ruck'. Formerly the referee would have called ruck and all hands should be off but now the 1st man has rights to continue.

creggs.. the Blue Bulls are the Currie Cup side of the Bulls, minus the Springboks when they're on duty.. in a nutshell.

As far as I know the Bulls encompass a few other regions too possibly, for the Super 14, whereas the Blue Bulls is purely the Pretoria etv region.

When the Springboks arent on duty though, it's pretty much a very similar side to S14.

^^ GRIQUAS have been playing together for a while now and have a good halfback combo!they get bigger attendances than a SUPER 14 game there lol!well done to them..if only CURRIE CUP was promotion to SUPER 14 they deserve a spot there

They'd technically have most of their S14 players, which include loads of SA internationals.
You could say the same thing about the Sharks in the Currie Cup or Auckland, Wellington or Canterbury in the NPC.
This is the level below the S14, like the NPC, or the state leagues in Australia.

In SA you get the vodacom cup (played during the S14 by minor teams) then you get the currie cup (one step up from Vodacaom cup) and then you get the S14(which is obviously another step up from currie cup)..
