Saracens aiming for home semi as they face Leicester Tigers

Saracens will be facing Northampton Saints in the Guinness Premiership semi-finals, but the matter of who gets the home semi is still to be decided, so Sarries will need a win this weekend against the Leicester Tigers to keep those hopes alive.

Round 22 is the final round of league action but there’s still plenty to play for as Saracens hope to win at Welford Road for the first time in 32 previous visits in all competitions.

The Tigers themselves are looking to maintain their great record this season, as they’re top of the table and are looking to remain unbeaten at home for the entire Guinness Premiership season.

In the lead up to the vital match we hear from Saracens players Adam Powell, Andy Saull, and Brad Barritt as they give their feelings on how they expect things to pan out.

Saull predicts that Ben Youngs will be making his trademark breaks from scrumhalf, while the challenge of playing against Lewis Moody and Tom Croft is one he’s relishing.

Centre Barritt, who has one of the best defensive records in the Premiership, says that to win the game they’ll need to bring down their big line breakers, with Alesana Tuilagi in particular forming a threat.

"We’re going to have to nullify their threat and impose our game on them. We’ll hunt them down in a pack of wolves, and obviously turn them over," Barritt said.

It should be a great match between two of the more exciting teams in the Premiership this season. Any predictions?

  • How small is Andy Saull's face. Poor guy.

  • Did they have to position Andy facing straight into the sun, he has to squint and it makes him look ridiculous lol

As a neutral I'd like to see Saracens win it just for a little bit of variety: Leicester dominance is getting a bit boring

  • These leagues seem to end up the opposite of how they start. Weren't Leicester finding it pretty much impossible to score tries at the start of the season? Now they're in the semis.

  • Leicester started the season with a lot of injuries, and struggled to score tries at first, but scraped through some tough games and stayed in the hunt.

But their season has recovered really well, and they are now joint top try scorers, scoring the most points for, and conceding the least.
