The Rugby Club Plays of the Week - And the Oscar goes to

Earlier today you got to see some of the better tries from last weekend's opening Super Rugby weekend in Rugbydump's Pick of the Week. Right now, lets catch up with another popular feature, Fox Sports' Plays of the Week.

There's been a few requests for it already, so even though there's a few things repeated in this edition (that you've seen here already on RD this week), there's one or two bits that are worth watching for, and no, I'm not referring to the bits that are shown in the pic.

There were a few shockers in terms of bloopers in round 1, with the worst probably going to Will Chambers of the Reds, who was actually safely over the line when he failed to catch the ball.

It's a bit harsh to make that a Friday Funny, so showing it as part of this segment works well. Blame the Rugby Club. The Chiefs also fluffed a few, although the mention of 'Percys' seems to have passed over in Australia. Maybe after Chambers we need to now call them 'Willys'?

Great tries, some cracking hits, and a few funny moments, they all come together nicely in this week's Plays of the Week from The Rugby Club. Enjoy the weekend and make sure you follow Rugbydump on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates, inside info, and a whole lot more.

Also if you're watching matches this weekend and spot anything you think could be featured here on the site, feel free to grab a pen and paper to make a note of the time of the incident. Then fire in an email or request and Rugbydump will take over from there. Cheers!

  • haha, they absolutely tore chambers to shreds

  • I love how all anyone has been talking about for the past 2 weeks in the 6 Nations is Ashton's try celebrations, whereas the Aussie's are begging Masaga to bring his back... Also I still don't think anyone should accuse Cowan of acting until they've also taken a fullspeed 120kg flying Ma'a Nonu shoulder to the face

  • PLEASE keep these coming. i still watch the ones you put up from 2007 season. classics!

  • Nonu is 110 kgs.....but yeah his shoulder to the face would still hurt.

  • early season fumbles eh? Happens to the best of them.

Re Cowan/Nonu - both a (w)reckless hit and a bit of acting, followed by a bit of showmanship.

50-50 overall, and eitherways, nonu had to go for 2nd yellow - that shoulder charge was OTT.

These Aussie Fox compilations are great, always look forward to seeing them here on RD. (The one around the time of the Lions SA tour was just perfect)

(Also, they use music really well in them - quirky enough . Why aren't more nations' TV rugby compos like this?)

  • About 5% of Polynesian rugby players seem to have that rats tail thing. Not sure what the commentators are on about

Pretty sure Rene Ranger had one last year

  • No Aussie bias here. The brumbies kid' try was nice, but c'mon, better than the bull"s winger? He beat about 6 guys over 60 metres!

And then the Reds get the hit of the week? Are you serious, it didn't compare to any of the hits from the NZ game, that game was epic for collisions!

Not too negative was that RD?

PS: Bring back the rat tail

  • Canuck, that's the deal with the Rugby Club Plays of the Week, in case you haven't seen a bunch of them yet. They tend to almost always pick an Aussie team/try/hit as the best one of the bunch, even in the face of clearly better efforts from other sides.

You just have to learn to appreciate the humor of it and move on. Once that happens, this stuff becomes pretty funny.

And I, for one, am glad Masaga has toned it down a bit. It makes it easier to appreciate the fact that he's actually quite a talented winger with a bit of gas on him!

The Super Rugby/S15 is awesome...goddamn I love rugby!!! And tomorrow is England v. France, too...this time of year, I feel friggin' spoiled!

  • Because it's an aussie show I think they only choose their hit and try of the week from their own aussie teams.

Doesn't really matter though it's not like it means anything.

Though in typical aussie fashion they don't mind taking the piss out of their own teams too lol.

I think it's because that was a consolation try at the end of the game, which was why he was less than overjoyed lol

  • Gotta love these vids from the rugby club. They are absolute classics.

btw, I'm pretty sure, if the chiefs actually perform and masaga does score a try while they are not losing, there will be some cheesy celebration again. And I'm not looking forward to that.
