George Gregan spear tackle on Richard Kahui
In last years Super 14, George Gregan was suspended for one match following this spear tackle on the Highlanders Richard Kahui.
The veteran Aussie was given a yellow card by referee Jonathan Kaplan but was cited after the match for the dangerous tackle. Gregan was perhaps lucky to get away with only a one week suspension considering how dangerous a tackle like this can be. Quite similar to the Lote Tuqiri tackle on Richie McCaw.
Still, as wrong as it was, it's still fairly impressive to see a scrumhalf mix it up with the bigger boys.

Its illegal cos if the guy is upended and dropped on his head he stands a very good chance of breaking his neck, therefore they make it illegal to reduce the chances of people breaking their necks!!!!!

you dont know why its illegal? what are you an idiot? clearly youve never been tackled like that before

Looks like he got in good and low, grabbed a leg and lifted the guy up pretty easily with his momentum and just lost control of the tackle. He sort of let go half way through, it wasn't like he was intentionally trying to hurt the guy. Ended up a spear tackle and he should be sin binned for that.

That tackled wasn't all Gregans fault. The other aussie really initiated the tacked to be dumped like that..I think that gregan would have just spun him down.
Although I am a big Prop I like how Gregan dishes it back for the little guys!

ow gregans gay head high the cunt
By Anonymous, at March 18, 2008 8:32 am
That looked bad but wasn't all Gregan's fault - he lifted the player to dump/drive back and the 2nd defender pulled him sideways out of Gregan's control

It was Matt Giteau who also made the tackle along side George Gregan. Yes George Gregan can tackle, he is notorious for his try saving tackle against the best bull - dozer impersonater himself Jonah Lomu.
