Midweek Madness - Snowman takes a high shot

When it's snowing outside and the weather isn't really conducive to a great game of rugby, what's an avid rugby player and fan going to do with himself?

Well, as one of our forum members recently showed us, why not build a snowman? Sounds boring, but at least it'll pass the time while not on the pitch.

But wait, this snowman wasn't built to impress the neighbours, or to make your 5 year old sibling happy. This snowman was destined for greater things, namely, getting smashed by a kid who's pent up aggression needed to be let out.

High, late, and without the ball, this tackle would make Brian Lima proud.

  • Nice vid, it would be a bit nicer if there was a slow motion replay of the tackle tho...
Now I know that the song in the first half of the vid is Sleigh Ride, but I don't know which version it is, so if anyone does know please tell me.
Some of you mite say I'm a wimp for admitting to liking the nice prancy song at the beginning rather than the hard metal song at the end, but remember it takes a real man to put his head out of the proverbial train.

  • Hi,

Quite a funny video !! You said that when it's snowing it's not a good time for a rugby game ? Not so sure of that...
I am right now in Finland, and has joined the Oulu rugby team in January.
We have been participating in two snow rugby games in February and March, and I have to say that it's quite great to play in the snow. Okay, the rules were quite modified (only 10 players/side, as much substitutions as wanted, quite a smaller pitch...) but still it's rugby !!
Here is a link to one the video made by the team : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7msuZBa_3HA

    Have fun !

  • Don't post non-rugby related videos like this again please, you've let yourself down RD.

  • don't listen to kurt, its a great video, he's just upset about that high tackle. i really liked your snowman until you munched it!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at April 09, 2008 3:51 pm

  • Actually, by leaving his feet, this looks alot more like Schalk Burger's RWC 2007 tackle that got him banned.

I still trust this snowman under the high ball more than some test players.

Like a stopped clock that's correct twice a day, at least the snowman might be in the right place once in a while.

  • Kurt, that's pathetic of you to say that. Of course it's rugby related you tool.

AND, don't forget, this is a rugby blog, which by definition means that the blogger can post whatever he feels. If you don't like it, save yourself three minutes of your day and don't post negative comments.

I think it's a great hit and vid by the guy who sent it in. Nice one dude.. albeit a bit high ;)

  • When I like to see people run into snowmen and other such humor, I go to sites like break.com or collegehumor.com
I didnt expect to see this kind of stuff on RD. I apologize to all those who like to see those kind of stunts and imagine them to be related to rugby.

  • it was so obvious!!!!!!!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at April 10, 2008 9:01 am

  • Kurt, if you were part of the forum you'd know that the guy who made this plays rugby and meant for it to be a rugby tackle, not just running into a snowman.

A whole bunch of us enjoyed it, so if you didn't, tough really. Maybe you should stop spending all your time on collegehumour.com and you would have actually been able to laugh about this, instead of post a pissy comment.

  • It looks like the tackler came off worse than the snowman! He must be Welsh!!! :)

  • Wonderful to see someone being so constructive with their free time :) By this I mean both the makers of the video and everyones new best friend Mr Happy (aka Kurt). May I make a quick suggestion though for people who don't want to see this sort of thing on RD? Read the title of the clips! It gives you an idea of what it may be about or did you think that "Snowman" was a new Premiership Icelandic Fullback?
