Vincent Clerc try vs Ireland

Friday night saw Ireland fight Les Bleus for every minute of the match. Their commitment at scrum time was massive, but their lack of discipline cost them.

Ireland quickly fell out of touch while the French kicked over penalty after penalty.

A Ronan O'Gara drop goal gave the plethora of Irish supporters some hope, but in the hearts they knew that France was in the driving seat most of the match.

Brilliant vision to spot the open space and immaculate execution of the popular 'banana kick' from fly-half Frederick Michalak put Vincent Clerc away in the corner. The French proceeded to twist the knife to produce an impressive final score.

Final score: 25-3

  • Your comment is very relevant for this video....

Great play by Michalak, who is among the best in France. We (I am argentinean) were lucky that Laporte preferred Skrela over him for the inaugural match.

It would be very nice to see France-New Zealand in the Quarter Finals....

  • You have to win Ireland first... If you loose, it's the All Blacks, for sure.

    ¡Aguante el Bocha!

  • I agree on the fact that the pair michalak-elissalde was the best choice for france in their first match, by the way, ireland is playing really in a bad and disorganized way...

  • Where did the left winger disappear to?!?!?!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at September 24, 2007 2:55 am

  • the french winger was in with the backline, at the last second he switched back to his wing and chased!

  • Any chance of getting O'Driscoll's tackle on Poitrenaud put up? He absolutely cut him in half!

Also, the Irish left winger moved to the 10 channel to mark Clerc and told the back row to watch the blindside. Didn't do much good!

  • And Michalak's coming to the Sharks! It'll be very interesting to see him pairing up with Ruan Pienaar in the S14, considering both are superbly intelligent, aware and interchangeable as SH/FH.

  • my comment is not so much about the try but about the little explanation b4 hand. To say ireland matched them etc is rubbish. Ireland were awful, o'gara is just a moaning static baby. who's lack of everything ( except for kicking, which i might add has been woefull)in attack is hurting ireland. not that they have a great deal outside him what with the once "great" o'driscoll looking like he's had one too many pies again and skill-less lumps like Horgan on the wing. I think the fair comment would have been had ireland not been so negative and lacked so much discipline it could have been a real hammering!!

On the subject of the try though, freddie is something else a real pleasure to watch, not sure about his hair tho!!

  • the referee was absaloutley shockin in that match(english pratt)

  • this is to that ignorant imature blolox who obvioslu knows nothin about rugby sayin o driscoll was "great" he is 1 of te best centres in the world and has embarrassed every country at somestage in his carrer northen and southern hemisphere especially england and australia

By Anonymous Anonymous, at October 06, 2007 12:11 am

  • First of all, I'm Irish. It was a crackin' try. Michalak and Elissalde work wonders together.

Whichever brainless, biased, immature twat declared Horgan a skill-less (which I take to mean unskilled) lump must be retarded. Anyone remember his try against England in the 6 Nations?

O'Gara was indeed unbelievably bad at the World Cup but to say he lacks everything except the ability to kick is extremely untrue.

I suggest the person who made the comment learn to spell, use puncuation and learn how to follow rugby before posting.
