Jason White tackle against Ireland in 2005

Ireland play Scotland tomorrow at Croke Park in a Six Nations encounter that talismanic captain Jason White won't be playing any part in unfortunately. The hard working leader won't be available due to a head injury that he has not yet fully recovered from.

Scotland will no doubt miss him, what with his reputation as one of the hardest hitters around.

This is just one example from 2005 of his tenacity at the tackle. White stopped Maggs dead in his track.

If anyone has any other quality clips of Jason White making big hits, please drop me a mail as he's one of the most requested tacklers on Rugbydump.

  • Funny to see Stampy run straight into the long haired oaf. Pretty average tackle to be honest, lots of Scottish hands in the ruck ;-)

  • "Pretty average tackle"

I'd like to see you take a tackle like that and say "Pretty average tackle" after it !!

Don't Dis the big man !

  • Great tackle. I'm slowly beginning to realise why people always go on about this guy.

  • more clips of jason white? how about some kevin maggs clips!!??

  • I must say, I'm thoroughly impressed by this guy's form.

None of those "50-50" tackles that the Butch Jameses and Brian Limas of the world throw. Half the time they are beauties, and half the time they are a flying flipper right out of gridiron.

If however, this guy has a few lowlight tackles, I'd be happy to stand corrected...

If not, these are the copybook tackles every kid should learn.

  • A great hit as per Jason White,

Any chance we could see his hit on Jerry Flannery in 2006 6 nations at Lansdowne? Nailed him!

Shame hes missing on Saturday, although despite being a huge Jason White fan, he hasn't been at his best.

    Interesting to see Strocko...

  • Always happy about more Jason White. Very disappointed about no Jason White against the Irish.
    Oh yeah, nice hit.

  • jason whites best hit was against jerry flannery in the 2006 six nations against irleand! great hit!

  • Cheyanquí, i don't think i have ever seen White do any lowlight tackles. He is a very legitimate tackler which is why he is so feared. The hit on Jerry Flannery in 2006 was even better though and this is certainly not his best hit.

  • why is it the first or second comment for a video is usually complete trash?
    great consistent hit from White.

  • In all honesty Jason Whites best hit came a few years ago in the 6N against England. Phil Vickery in his prime running full tilt into Jason White and Vickery stopped absolutely dead! I remember seeing it and being amazed, firstly by the hit but also Vickery spilled the ball in the tackle but somehow reached over Jasons shoulder and regathered the ball. Shame theres not a clip of that one going about!

  • wow big hit...Kevin maggs bounced like crashing into a solid brick wall

By Anonymous Anonymous, at May 11, 2008 10:01 am

  • to the anon who stated

"lots of Scottish hands in the ruck"

funnily enough i failed to see any handling of the ball at all.
