Great interview with Justin Marshall & Warren Gatland

As an avid rugby fan, it's always interesting to hear what the great's of the game feel about rugby's current goings on. Ten years of test experience and 81 Test matches behind him, Justin Marshall has a fair bit to say and is well worth listening to.

In this 9 min excerpt from Sunday nights Scrum V episode, Marshall discusses the Six Nations, does his Welsh accent impersonation, praises Shane Williams, and talks about Wales' chances for their upcoming tour of South Africa in June.

Marshall is also wearing a New Zealand choker at the beginning of the show, because he lost a bet from last time he was on there.

Warren Gatland makes a surprise appearance with the Six Nations trophy and talks about celebrating, but importantly also about why Wales need to remain level headed.

Note: 9 mins

  • Good clip. Even with a career of concussion behind them, they're still light-years ahead of their football counterparts in talking about their sport.

  • cheers for this rugbydump. If you need anymore proof of how good shane and the ospreys are go to youtube and type in 'most dramtic try ever' i would love it if you posted that up.

  • Great show and a great clip. Marshall cracks me up everytime I see him give an interview, funny guy and a good sport to boot (not to mention a fantastic player).

  • just following this tournament was exciting enough, wish I could have actually seen a game for real. As a yank Id love to have some continental action in this hemisphere, some sort of 'six nations' if it could be organized. Couldnt hurt the sports development, and I dont really think we're strapped for venues like some of europe seems to be.

  • Justin Marshall is good value and doesnt take himself to seriously, as said great player and to be honest a bit underated, he had to compete with so many superstars in the All Black set up.

  • Its good to see interviews on here as well as just game footage. Marshall is an idol of mine, great guy and a top player.

  • As many people see him as one of the greatest players and possibly the greatest All Black ever I don't think Marshall is under-rated!!
    Loved his Welsh accent, brilliant!
Oh and by the way, GRAND SLAM!!!!

  • Scrum V is brilliant. As well as showing plenty of rugby it's also funny and the interviews are great. Glad that this has been put up so that people who think shane isn't that good can now hopefully stop talking rubbish.

Also, for those of you who watch Scrum V, i met Rick O'Shea in Cardiff on Grand Slam night, he's also a funny bloke and seemed really tidy.

  • When Marshall first joined the ospreys he was playing a game against one of the scottish teams. When one second row was getting a bit lippy, Marshall just said to him "Mate.... I don't even know your name".

    HAHAHA, Arrogant but funny!!

  • Cyril I hear that maybe overshadowed would have been a better way of describing it. I spent two years in NZ and even there all though highly respected other players got more attention.

  • Cracking interview.... Marshalls a top guy, completely different to how he was portrayed in the UK prior to his move here.

It's a shame he can't play for the lions next year, if they had any sense they'd open it up to people playing in the four home nations... imagine Marshall and cipriani as a lions half back pairing

    *drools*
