Friday Funnies - Will Carling's episode of what happens next
England captain Will Carling thinks he's scored a fantastic 60 metre try in the Middlesex Sevens for Harlequins, until he gets over the try line and is met by opposition wings Woodhouse and Hunter.
This is without a doubt one of the most bizarre and embarassing incidents to ever be seen on a rugby field. That said, I could watch it over and over again.
Great commentary from Bill McLaren, as always.

This is absolutely hilarious, one of the weirdest things I have seen so far. Is that legal, actually?
Three cheers for Friday Funnies, though, great idea (as all the rest) :)

I have no clue how that happens to you. I understand how you can be held up, but how like that? definitely one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen.

Superb!! The cocky bastard instead of putting the ball down for an easy try gets carried off the field instead! Love it!! Nice one RD for digging this one out of the vaults

I wonder if the referee called 5m scrum defending put-in (for the knock forward), or called it 22m dropout (for being carried over the dead ball line).
Perhaps just as cool as this play is getting a chance to hear THE VOICE of rugby, Bill McLaren.

he'll be taking that wedgie out of his ass for the next ten years. i doubt he mentions this embarassing episode when giving his motivational speeches to city big shots. he truly does suck donkey balls.

I had to replay this video back a few times over and over again just because I can not believe it.
the 14 was right IN FRONT of him...I can not say I find this funny, but why I'm so mad is coz this is a professional rugby player...how could he be so stupid?
Gosh...I'm going to get myself a drink, wut an insult.

To the optimist above. It time for your meds again...
By Anonymous, at January 13, 2008 9:10 pm
I agree scotland are in great shape for 2010, their front 5 are currently the best in the world and the backline are second only to japan
By Anonymous, at January 13, 2008 9:43 pm
Hilarious!
I would love to know who was the 14 who held him up like that - incredible strength - carling wasn't a bad player (beat the 11 beautifully on the outside) so grabbing him like a rag-doll deserves some respect), while great commtittment to necer give up.
By Anonymous, at January 14, 2008 8:56 am
I never realised Carling had Gas
Great Tackle, upper body strength must have been immense.
By Anonymous, at January 14, 2008 10:19 am
I'll never forget refereeing a 7s match where a bloke goes into the try zone, sticking his tongue back at the defender, and showing the ball.
He then proceeds to jog all the way to back of the try zone (a 10+ metre deep zone mind you).
As he crouches to put the ball down, he steps on the dead ball line before the ball touches deck.
One of the most satisfying 22m dropouts I ever called, for the guy being a pendejo
By Anonymous, at January 14, 2008 11:04 pm
doing that must feel just soooooooooooooo good
funny as hell
By Anonymous, at January 17, 2008 2:03 pm

By dai, at March 18, 2008 11:34 pm
hahah, great video
i just love when the commentator says "he can't get it down!", and you see him being carried over the line
would of been a great try if he got it though :|
By James, at March 25, 2008 2:47 pm
(Chuckling very hard)WTH? alright i've stopped now.Carling took on Hunter & Woodhouse and they chased him 60 Meters to have belted (hold him up)and knock him on his backside!.
By Anonymous, at June 03, 2008 6:35 pm
OMG!!! JUST PUT BALL DOWN YOU IDIOT. its just like kissing the ball goodbye why not just PUT IT DOWN.
By Anonymous, at June 27, 2008 8:53 pm
if anything in those days the second quins player arrving could have been penalized for collapsing the maul, which also would have been funny.
By Anonymous, at March 03, 2009 10:01 am
Should have been 5m scrum to Quins. 'Held Up'. There can be no tackle or maul in the in-goal area.
