Sensational Vilimoni Delasau try vs Wasps

As requested, here is the sensational Vilimoni Delasau from the weekend's game between Clermont and Wasps.

With literally his first touch of the ball, Sevens star Delasau stepped through the traffic of two defenders, then stepped another defender one on one and put the foot down.

Paul Sackey gave chase and most people would put their money on speedster Sackey catching him, myself included, but the big Fijian with the jet shoes kept going to score the try of the tournament so far.

A cracking match, with World Cup sensation Delasau adding to the quality with the most scintillating of individual tries that will be remembered for a long, long time to come.

  • Sackey got cramp at the end of the chase - so he slowed right as he was about to get there for the tackle.

  • I was just about to say what was Sackey doing... I could be off based on the camera angles, but in my opinion he was better than arms reach away... He could of easily dropped for the tackle and made shoulder to leg contact

Cramp or not, he should of made the tackle, in the position they were, the try would of probably been 50/50 had Sackey gone down for the tackle.

    am alone in thinking that?

  • If Sackey got cramp fair play but he could have ankle tapped him. Sackey is meant to have tightened his defence but in that clip he looks like he doesnt fancy it at all. Woeful cover at the start of the run but Delasau is very quick. Great try to watch from a neutral perspective. Vive la running rugby.

  • what an eejit! if he only streched his arms! or dived... otherwise, a nice try

  • Delasau is awesome
even though I am a proud welshman amd would rather not talk about the fijian expierience lol !.
Delasau is miles faster than Sackey anyday

  • The 2 commentators are absolute idiots saying that delasau is showboating when he is quite clearly looking up to the sky and thanking god for the great try he has scored, and definitely not looking for the camera, what a pair of idiots we have commentating

By Anonymous Anonymous, at December 19, 2007 7:07 pm

  • well they actually said "im not sure if he was looking at the camera" and then they continue to say if he was then it was showboating but he deserves it....so in all honesty "hitman" i dont think you are in any position to call them idiots!

hmmm not sure about Sackey, cramp is painful i know, but could he have just dived or something....i guess he will be the only one to ever know!

  • Agreed. Cramp or not, Sackey looked no further than an arms length, a nice little dive could have taken him down. Great try non the less though. Good move on the fullback with the side step. All in all good play by the winger.

  • WTF!

Sackey, being part of the english team should have made that takle
cramp or not, his in first grade

    what a pussey

  • i think like most of us, if sackey throw to do an ankle tapped delasau

nevertheles, it was an incredible try

By Anonymous Anonymous, at December 20, 2007 3:08 am

  • no wonder.. i was wondering y didnt sackey dive at him and save a good try

By Anonymous Anonymous, at December 20, 2007 2:40 pm

  • even if he had dived and got his legs he still would have scored, trying to sprint with cramp is very difficult and painfull

By Anonymous Anonymous, at December 21, 2007 12:14 pm

  • thanks so much mate, for getting that!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at December 22, 2007 12:38 am

  • Sackey made up a hell o a lot of ground to even get close! fair play to him, e almost got there from the other side o the pitch! n if he'd ancle tapped him it wld of made no difference because it was so close to the line so it wld of been pointless seenin as he was injured anyway!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at December 22, 2007 6:32 pm

  • awsome site!!

kepp up the good work !!!!!

  • Sackey is useless

By Anonymous Anonymous, at December 28, 2007 11:31 am

  • i like the way everyone is sayin, if he only just tapped takled him....im afraid its probably a bit harder than it seems to bring down a massive fijian in full flight about 2 metres from the line when hes just run half the pitch to get there!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at December 31, 2007 4:20 pm

  • Sackey is the most over rated winger in d world,, will use english cop on 2 ur selfs n stop tlkin bollix,, it wz a gr8t try so jus accept it...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at December 31, 2007 7:12 pm

  • that has to be one of the best tries i've ever seen. but the rougerie one that happened earlier in the same game was almost equally as good as this. cracking game.
