Brian Lima's career ending tackle on Wilkinson
Brian Lima's career is effectively over. The Zidane of this years Rugby World Cup has been suspended for three weeks for this high tackle on Jonny Wilkinson, and with Samoa not making it to the next round means we won't see the veteran in World Cup action again.
Lima was spoken to by the referee for the high tackle during the England vs Samoa clash, but the Judicial Officer involved in the citing felt it deserved further punishment.
"The tackle was inherently dangerous and the swinging right arm of Brian Lima connected with considerable force on the neck/throat of Jonny Wilkinson."
Three weeks for this tackle is once again inconsistent and harsh in this instance, but perhaps had a little something to do with his previous big hit on Andre Pretorious that went unpunished.
Either way, we bid farewell to The Chiropractor, who made an invaluable contribution to Samoan and world rugby over the years.

sorry admin, i know it doesn't look particularly bad but it is very dangerous tackle and 3 weeks is about right. Perhaps 2, but like you said they're trying to clamp down and not condone these silly tackles.

Has anyone else noticed how all the worst high tackles, one, are against england and two, never seem to go unpunished on the pitch?

tbh that tackle wasnt that bad! yes i wouldt like to be on the recieving end but tbh, i think it was only made a big deal because no one wants to hurt poor ickle johnny wilkinson! anyone else it would have been left alone!

same that brian lima had to end his career like that it would have been better to see him cut someone in half again! and i'm english i think jonny should be dropped soon. in london there was something held called scrum in the park where you get to meet all the players, this year me and a mate went and jonny walk out on his own surronded by body gaurds when the rest all came out together with no body gaurds. he's beginnig to think that the whole team revolves around him. Sorry Jonny but the powers gone to your head

if lima didnt put his arm around him then it wouldnt have been high as he just used his shoulder , nothing compared to his tackle on derrick houggard

its because its jonny wilkinson i think, if it was someone else specially a forward i think he would've gt away without being cited was a penalty tho cos it slipped up to his head, Why 3 match ban tho!!! proposterous
