Sebastien Chabal doesnt want to speak English
One of the most talked about players at this years World Cup, Sebastien Chabal comes up with this classic line in a recent press conference.
Some people will say this shows pure arrogance. I personally think it's pure comedy.
A great moment from the World Cup.

But didn't he then continue to speak in English?
He should have spoken in a Manc accent for his Sale fans

Priceless.
Look at his face when the video starts, he looks in the camera and when the reporter starts talking he scans the horizon for the target xD

MWAHAHAHAAAHAAAAA!!!...
He seems to act with the same temperament than... Eric Cantona!
(Excuse my poor English, I'm French.)
By Anonymous, at September 21, 2007 5:51 pm
jaja this frenchs are disgusting, take a bath...
By Anonymous, at September 21, 2007 5:56 pm
His choice he's one hell of a player.

has any of you ever been to france? NOBODY there wants to speak in any other language!i mean nobody, taxi drivers, hotel staff...and its not because they dont know other languages...
By Anonymous, at September 21, 2007 7:36 pm
When he doesn't want to speak english, no one speaks.
By Anonymous, at September 21, 2007 9:29 pm
he french and he looks like a mongrel. wats up?
By Anonymous, at September 21, 2007 10:54 pm
wat a sap.owen reddan just picked him up and dumped him
By Anonymous, at September 21, 2007 11:22 pm
leave it out! he has a very valid point! i'm english but he definately has a point! he might be a mongrel but he's a damn good player, probably the best impact player in the world cup! just look at what he did when he came on against Argentina!
By Anonymous, at September 22, 2007 10:34 am
You're in France and you wanna speak French, fair enough... but the RWC is an international event and someone may not know your language. Pure arrogance.
Still a great player.
By Belladavuz, at September 22, 2007 12:20 pm
Look to be totally honest guys why should he speak french, you shouldnt go to a foreign country and expect everyone to bow down and speak your language!
but alllllllllsooooooo maybe the "can i ask you...etc" was the actual question....WHICH Chabal then answered in english!!! lol
AWESOME PLAYER!!!!
By Anonymous, at September 22, 2007 1:28 pm

By Anonymous, at September 22, 2007 5:45 pm
He wimpered that journalist off real easy. Marvelous line, considering where he plays. He and I bet some others had a laugh when they the journalist's face!
(If you dont get it, watch this http://youtube.com/watch?v=CAHHzZJ9KmU&mode=related&search=)
By Sea-Bass, at September 22, 2007 7:37 pm
After he says "We speak French."
I think the journalist is trying to be funny and says "Afrikaans?".
But he's really quiet...Crank up the volume and have a listen.
By Anonymous, at September 22, 2007 8:24 pm
Shinx says: Ths guy is one of the best players I have seen in the cup so far. He plays in England, however his passion is for his home land, all respect to him for dealing with the reporter the way he did...
By Anonymous, at September 22, 2007 10:20 pm
LMFAO, he fucking owns.
By OtterTheCanuck, at September 22, 2007 10:56 pm
I dont think he is arrogant, he speaks french that's it. In general the people who only speaks english dont want/know to speak any other language and try to force everyone else to speak in their language. that's arrogant.
By Anonymous, at September 23, 2007 2:37 am
really funny, great player, still...roncero fucked him up,so as the whole french team, I think he didnt want to speak because of the beating the french had taken against the argentinians. muerte a esa gente. Larga vida a los pumas y al bochita ledesma.
By Anonymous, at September 23, 2007 5:26 am
All my respect for Mr. Chabal. Each one has the right to speak in his language in his home. If you send a reporter to france... MAKE SURE HE SPEAKS FRENCH, AND SO ON WITH THE OTHER COUNTRIES. I personally think his company is lame and have not enough money to hire decent employees.
By Anonymous, at September 23, 2007 11:07 pm
Funny, I don't think people should take this as him being rude, he was playing with the media. Very funny
By Anonymous, at September 24, 2007 2:41 am
Well said. It is an international event but he is French for crissakes - would other players be expected to speak in languages other than their own - I think people who only speak English (and that's me included save for some pretty poor Italian) assume others should speak English when they can but frankly, why should they?
I like the chap but think he's a little over-rated (and short to be playing Lock).
By backin15, at September 24, 2007 3:47 am
Arrogance? Don´t think so...
The man is intitled to refuse to speak other language but his own on his home land.
Arrogance is when blokes from the english speaking nations don´t try to speak ANYTHING other than english in other countries and have the nerve to make a disgusting face when someone doesn´t understand them.
Arrogance is, as well, being argentinian.
Do you know how does an argentinian commits suicide? He throws himself from the top of his own ego.
By Anonymous, at September 24, 2007 3:10 pm
jajaja.... great!
He is in his own right
By Anonymous, at September 24, 2007 5:16 pm
Absolute badass. Kab-prop is right, i think he is looking for something tackle even at that moment.
By Anonymous, at September 24, 2007 5:54 pm
Great player but should he not of said
"No...Nous sommes en France, nous parlons français"?
:)
p.s. Sorry if this is not correct my french is not that good.
By Anonymous, at September 24, 2007 6:55 pm
Keep the Argy jokes out of here, before I whip out the Hand of God and smack you POMs back over the Channel ;)
By Anonymous, at September 24, 2007 7:26 pm
He's a national institution! A bloody hero!
"Don't want speak English, we're in France"
I can just imagine him in Sale in a French interview
"Don't wanna speak French, we're in Manc-Country now... are ya MAD for it?!?!?"
Classic
By MuseLuver86, at September 24, 2007 9:24 pm
Bet the French dont mind taking the English money though - He is an arrogant prick. It doesnt matter how good a player there is no need to be rude.
By Anonymous, at September 25, 2007 12:05 pm
I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.
By Anonymous, at September 25, 2007 8:06 pm
you know chabal likes to play with the media. recently he told them that he will cut his hair and his beard if they win ireland. everyone believed it... and well he didn't do it. I think it's a joke as i said he likes playing with the media.
By Anonymous, at September 26, 2007 1:44 pm
thats canny funny like. I like how he answers that question in english.
Chabal rocks.
By Anonymous, at September 26, 2007 3:20 pm
Chabal's response to the reporter's comeback:
ek praat nie Afrikaans nie, jou ma se poes
By Anonymous, at September 27, 2007 1:55 am

By Anonymous, at September 30, 2007 2:56 pm
Awsome!
I'm an ABs supporter (not a Kiwi), and I hate the frogs, but you gotta admit Chabal is one awsome player.
By Anonymous, at September 30, 2007 5:25 pm
That is a fair point.
By Unknown, at October 01, 2007 7:10 am

en anglais, si vous plait
By Anonymous, at October 02, 2007 11:18 pm
sorry i am so bad in english
By Anonymous, at October 02, 2007 11:47 pm
It is totally irrelevant if he gives an interview in french or english. The main point is that this guy is a legend. If he didn't make a sigle tackle in the whole game or scored a single try I'd still watch it. His legendary mug will never be forgotten. Even Conan the Barbarian would not be ashamed of this guy's appearance. For all I care he can use his hands and feet to communicate. I applaude you Caveman!
By Anonymous, at October 03, 2007 10:34 am
The French are nationalistic, why should they have to speak English. Why don't the reporters learn French?
By Anonymous, at October 03, 2007 3:01 pm
well speak french, or moan in french..drown in french cos ur gonna need councelin when the All Blacks get thru with yall..Cardiff- Paint it Black!!
By Anonymous, at October 03, 2007 7:22 pm
Perhaps if Chabal DID do an interview in English, it would go somewhat like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_w4MV_LwMw
["Slap Shot" for those of you not into hockey]
By Anonymous, at October 05, 2007 6:41 pm
It is very nice to see people who love their contry.I love mine to!I am from Romania so :nu va mai luati de oameni de valoare caci mi se pare foarte frumos gestul sau.Cand este in Anglia vorbeste englaza,in tara sa cere sa ii fie vorbita limba-mama.
By Lili, at October 08, 2007 8:08 pm
Bravo Chabal !
Dont worry He'll brandish the world cup at the stade de france in 15 days...
victor
By Anonymous, at October 09, 2007 12:44 am
Que lindo este Chabal ! Y porque no seria el journalista que le pregunte en Frances.. la cupa del mundo esta en francia no ??
By Anonymous, at October 09, 2007 12:47 am
WHAT WILL YOU SAY IF A FRENCH JOURNALIST WILL INTERVEW AN ALL BLACK IN NEW ZEALAND... IN FRENCH ??
YOU SAID SHOCKING ??
YOU'RE RIGHT CAVEMAN !
By Anonymous, at October 09, 2007 12:50 am
please stop being silly and thinking that is an another evidence of the horrible french's arogance. The journalist is french and he is definitely kidding chabal which had enough to endure theses kind of jokes from french journalistes.
By Anonymous, at October 10, 2007 3:39 am
a think hes ryt wantin 2 speak in french wen immigrants n shit cum 2 this country are we expected 2 speak 2 thm in their language or are thy expected 2 learn ours it woood be differnt if the world cup was in britain. glad the french beat the cheatin all balck bastards:D great game
By Anonymous, at October 10, 2007 11:12 pm
Respect to the Sea Bass, a really funny guy huh? I say bin the game and put Sheri and L'animal on, throw them a cow - the one who eats the most wins the match.
By Anonymous, at October 12, 2007 8:39 am
Fair play to the bloke. He's French in France, so why should he answer questions in English. However, if when he's at Sale he asks for anything in French, they are perfectly entitled to ignore the berry wearing, onion eating, garlic smelling donkey!!
By Unknown, at October 12, 2007 3:05 pm
well, we know the French speak German when they have to.
By Anonymous, at October 21, 2007 11:18 am
I read in an article that it had just been a misunderstanding.
"That is not what I meant to say," Chabal explained on Thursday. It was not called-for, it was manipulated by the TV crews who were in front of me. I had just come from a long 3-hour training session and it had been a long time since I had spoken English, so I meant that he could translate my answer later."
By Anonymous, at October 21, 2007 10:21 pm
chabal thinks he is tough but comes across as camp as a field of boy scouts tents
By Anonymous, at November 22, 2007 11:23 pm
for me chabal is right,I'm italian but I understand it,a french want to speack french in his country, and for me this is right, also because a journalist maybe did the interview in french yet before.
By Anonymous, at January 16, 2008 11:09 am
That just shows how great chabal is, he has re - invented the game of rugby and it's good to see him get one over on a fat english bloke, by the way I'm irish!
By Anonymous, at January 18, 2008 11:08 pm
can you hear his breathing? he needs some olbus oil badly.
By Anonymous, at April 19, 2008 1:15 pm
I Would Have Done The Same Thing.
What Do They Expect If Their In France.
By Anonymous, at November 01, 2008 10:11 pm
leguizamon speaks english, french, spanish and smashed him in the RWC.
Ta da
By Unknown, at September 19, 2009 3:46 am
