Two Jamie Noon crunchers against Ireland

Jamie Noon has really come to prominence of late as one of the biggest tacklers, and particularly crash tacklers, in international rugby.

He's been a stand out performer for England in this years Six Nations, and against Ireland put in some great hits.

Here is a very short clip, just to illustrate exactly why a lot of people have been talking about him so much lately.

Note: For the Irish fans, we're hoping to post that Trimble hit that a lot of you have been talking about as soon as we manage to track it down.

Its a shame that tackling is the only thing he is good at, Dan Hipkiss for England!

Noon definately made his mark during the 6N with some hard tackles and a few decent breaks. I think his best hit was on Haymens the French full back (although knock on) that led to Sackeys try. Booom!

The tackles themselves seem pretty "easy". He's not a particularly heavy bloke but just manages to read the attack perfectly and line them up so that he can really launch himself into the player. I haven't seen him do an illegal tackle in international rugby which is a testament to the defender her his; he seems to enjoy "accompanying" the ball carrier to the ground as it's on the impact with the ground that he tends to drive the shoulder in and start flapping around for the ball. As a defender you can't fault him and he runs some decent lines so until someone else comes along (Tait) wit a bit more pace and better ball skills / kicking, I don't see a reason to stop playing him there.

noon had good 6 nations with his big hits and breaks, he was probably the only england player who was consistant week in week out. i thought flood played good at 12, just needs to work on his defence tho.

He's beginning to remind me of Scott Gibbs, don't worry i won't get ahead of myself, but he is very strong, at least in defence at the moment. especially for his size, about 5ft 10.
hehe and scott earned nicknames like "The pocket battleship" and "the fastest prop in world rugby" :D
