Josh Lewsey's try saving tackle on Jean De Villiers
In the first test against England in Nov 2006, The Springboks' Jean De Villiers got yet another trademark intercept, but he unfortunately wasn't able to capitalise on it.
Instead of finishing the try by stepping inside or flicking the ball to Ndungane, he decided to back himself, but was shown up excellently by the covering Josh Lewsey.
Brilliant try saving tackle, but to be honest, I think Lewsey would have been shocked De Villiers stuffed it up so badly. Bad mistake. Great result for the English.
Postponed coach Andy Robinson getting fired, for a week or so anyway.

Lewis is awesome but he would certain not be happy with being called an ex-marine! He went to Sandhurst to join the Army!!!!!

From an Irishman I have to say that that was a brilliant tackle. The speed at which he came across was amazing.

"What a great fuckin save. Solid tackle, too. And that's from a fullback!"
^ wot do u mean "and thats from a fullback" fullbacks are some of the best tacklers, they have to be. idiot.
By Anonymous, at January 08, 2008 3:19 pm
Bit late with the shoot down, but your right, fullback has to be the best tackler, as Lewsey is one of the best in the England team. Just ask Matt Rogers

'fullbacks have to be good taklers idiot'
shut up u twat, usally a fullback
doesnt try at those tackles, too risky or they cant get there in time. and lewsey could play flanker in he wanted too.

The person who said were way behind Ireland and we don't have a chance, well we got to the final. Fair bit better then ireland did.
By Anonymous, at January 10, 2008 6:52 pm
Uh? Ireland did something during this world cup? Glad to know it.

A fullback doing what hes there for, truly awsome, i love it. OH and to the guy below me, most of the fullbacks i know are one of the hardest hitters
By Anonymous, at March 18, 2008 9:37 pm
Um fullbacks do have to be the best tacklers they are the last line of defense, in fact if i watched this without knowing he was a fullback i would have guessed it anyway. Argue this and your a dumbass, or you do not know how to play fullback
By Anonymous, at March 18, 2008 9:40 pm
lewsey is amazin but were was he in th 6 nations wales would still win but england would have beet scotland (he's half welsh and sed heed rather play for wales shame he dousn't) (welshman writing)
By Anonymous, at June 01, 2008 1:30 pm
em on the fullback tackling thing............most fullbacks wouldnt like to enter the defensive line until their in their own 22. they dont want to be stuck at the bottom of a ruck and out of position....leaving space for the opposition kicker to exploit
By Anonymous, at August 02, 2008 10:08 pm
Great tackle , shame he cudn do it against us , wales , [Grand Slam 2008] :)
By Anonymous, at August 13, 2008 11:21 pm
probably one of the best try saving tackles in history, no luck involved , just sheer brilliance from lewsey - to the point where de villiars wasnt exactly "wrong" to back himself, he just looked like a fool.
