Famous Simon Shaw run from the Lions Tour 2005
After posting the clip of Andries Bekker manhandling some of the smaller guys, there was a lot of talk about Bekker's height, and in particular, comparing him to big Simon Shaw. That brought back memories of this great moment from the 2005 British and Irish Lions tour of New Zealand.
In a midweek game against Manawatu in Palmeston North, the touring side ran riot, running in 17 tries on their way to a 109-6 victory against the smaller provincial side.
After a Shane Williams try that took the score over the half century mark, big England second-rower Simon Shaw took the ball beautifully from the restart, taking off for an inspirational 55m rampage that would see him tackled just short of the line. The ball was presented cleanly for always present teamate Neil Back, who was close at hand to finish off this classic try that was started by the skill and pace of the big man Shaw.

Irc12 is right, having Johnson and Shaw in the same team would be domination city! Although I've never seen Johnson run like that (only to hit someone).

Many of these tall guys have a very slow first step, but give them 5-10m to get up a head of steam, and you can really see their pace.
Notice that Shaw ran onto the ball first. Then his long stride really kicked in, making him difficult to catch.
Good on 'em.

That is great pace shown by a man who dwarfs Martin Johnson(4 inches taller), I wish he controlled his temper because sometimes he lets it get the better of him.
He'll BLOSSOM(lol) into a fantastic lock and all round player, hardworking at rucks, scrums and line-outs. We need him!!!

simon shaw - v. talented 2nd row. While at it, i think he is the current only player playing in the premiership who has scored a drop goal in the premiership. see if that can be dug up.

He meant Shaw is the only lock in the Premiership to hit a drop goal, which is true I think.
