Justin Murphy flips over advertising boards!

Speedster Justin Murphy has an unfortunate collision with the advertising boards in this Rugby League match between Wigan and the Dragons.

Murphy unbelievably comes out of this unscathed and takes to the field straight away.

He's lucky he wasn't knocked out with broken legs... or worse! Incredible.

  • on the news here (aus) they had about 16 angles of this guy getting hammered. Pretty bloody bad. they should really move those things back.

  • remember watchin this every one in the pub found it piss funny

By Anonymous Anonymous, at July 09, 2007 2:10 pm

  • Well they can't exactly move the barriers back without redesigning the stands can they!!!! so your comment was pretty damn ridiculous!

  • course they can it only advertising boards, theres plenty of room in between them and the seats!! and what about using advertising dyed onto the grass around the edge like footballs fa cup? instead wont trip over them.

  • Yes h and what is behind the advertising boards....concrete!!! so if they move them back then they are gonna have to get rid of the concrete and then grass over! and the concrete bit is a walkway! sooo therefore they will have to redo the stands!!!

  • compared to building a stadium putting a bit of turf down isn't the biggest thing in the world and when could prevent player injuries i think it might be worth it don't you?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at July 11, 2007 2:33 pm

  • Well i think preventing injuries is great but if you put a bit of turf down then where is the walkway gonna be? i.e where is the cameraman gonna be? the stewards to stop the crowd from entering the pitch etc etc.....im not saying that its good about the injuries im just saying that it is gonna be a lot of work to do that!!!

  • to be fair the advertising boards dont stop people getting onto the pitch, if they really wanted to get to get to the pitch they would because of stadium laws regarding crowd surges.
what diffrence would it make to stewards whether they sit on grass or concrete, really? as for cameras they are in the same position what difference does it make they have chairs and camera stands. Look at basketball they dont have advert boards and the fans and personell walk on the edges of the court.
Besides that the ad boards are not there to prevent ppl getting onto the pitch thats what the metal railings around the bottom tear are for. Cost is regardless think of the cost if he'd cracked his skull open or worse

  • This is the stupidest argument i have ever seen- who cares he is okay. Just goes to show how rubbish rugby league stadia are though! I suppose a vastly inferior sport needs vastly inferior arenas....

  • Ughhhh....I bet he felt that tumble the next day! Badly designed pitch....not much space from the line to the advertising...the should use soft padded advertising to act as protection....

By Anonymous Anonymous, at July 27, 2007 1:35 pm

  • with toadys modern technology of doing pretty much anything we want, ofcoarse we can tear up the concrete and add a little more room for caution!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 02, 2007 7:25 am

  • i saw that live on tele...nasty accident. then he takes it up on the next set! H is right something definetly needs to be done. its just that the stadium is shared with a football team (which is the bigger money spinner) it would be their say...and it doesnt really matter so much for them. also there wouldnt be much time to do it in because of the league season and football season run more or less at opposite times of the year

  • i was watching that n cringed when he when over but then laughed when he gets the ball straight away and runs into four players hahaha
