Paul Sackey finishes off the Danny Cipriani show

Better late than never, we've decided to show you the fantastic Wasps try from a few weeks ago vs Clermont.

Danny Cipriani had an absolute stormer of a first half, showing all the skill, flair, and speed that will no doubt see the young 20 year old reaching higher honours very soon. Jonny Wilkinson will no doubt be looking over his shoulder with Cipriani showing the kind of devastating flyhalf play that could easily see him capturing the number 10 birth for England in the upcoming Six Nations.

Yes, he's young and inexperienced, but it's been a while since we've seen such raw talent at a young age, combined with confidence and the great ability to read a game and know when it's on or it's not.

In the case of this try, it most certainly was on. Cipriani does everything right, and after receiving the ball again, flips it inside to Paul Sackey who finishes off an excellent team try.

Danny Cipriani is definitely one to look out for. Remember that name.

  • Good try, but I think the second last pass was forward

  • awesome

  • lets not get into an argument about the pass, us on here are horrible for taking something way out of control
but since u put in ur 2 cents i'll just counter saying if it wasnt backwards it was directly sideways, not forward
great try and i cant wait to see him more
i surley hope he replaces wilko, this young guy has far more talent than wilko and hes much more fun to watch

  • Brilliant try can't wait for him to be called up to play for his country because it means we will the next world cup!

  • great try...great team effort.

  • Fortunate with the last pass

By Anonymous Anonymous, at December 28, 2007 7:04 pm

  • he also slaughtered a try in that game which shows he's not ready yet, also, to the person who said he's better than Wilko, shut up he isnt slow he can kick better than Cipriani, and his performances in the world cup prove his still one of the best around so shut up

By Anonymous Anonymous, at December 28, 2007 8:23 pm

  • Thought the pass was ok, bit of a speculative lob but good backing up. The first missed tackle did the damage. Everyone is talking up Danny "I like my girls to have once been men" Cipriani lets hope he doesnt fall short like Hook and Henson. He has a way to go yet before he is the real deal.

Sackey is a bit hit and miss, when good he is ok but can look bloody dire sometimes.

  • Oh plureez ok the guy is good but more talent than wilko?? Some fans are so fickle 4 years ago he was the best thing since sliced bread and he didn't do too bad a job this time considering he was carrying an injury that kept him out of club rugby for 6 weeks. Cipriani may be the future but for the present my money is still with Jonny.

  • very impressive team play. Definitely gotta keep an eye on this young fella. I would have liked to see that second pass again because it did looked a touch forward.

Wilko beware, because your heir is on the rise.

Also transexuals beware because Danny Cipriani is on the prowl. (that last bit was probably uncalled for but still damn funny)

By Blogger Big Ginger, at December 30, 2007 6:03 am

  • erm...danny better than wilko? no! danny is a rising player, but like some guy said, he might peak too early like henson. if you had to bet on a WC winning dropgoal, i know who i would put my money on.

Oh yea. someone said that jonny is shit at kicking, well hes the best guy eng/british lions have got.

Dannys time will come, but the responsibilty, of him kicking for his country in a WC final would put too much pressure on him, one of the main reasions that he wasnt picked this time. does anyone actually know where he came from, caus he sort of appeared out of no where.

Oh yea, a great try, sackey for eng now robbo has gone

  • http://www.wasps.co.uk/playerdisplay.ink?skip=5&season=2007/2008&Playertype=P gives a link to find more info about cipriani. I have watched him this season and last, and as a wasps season ticket holder (trying not to be biased), he is not ready to take over from wilko. The person who said sackey is a bit hit and miss is just plain wrong, every game for wasps he has been brilliant. People who question his defence should see his tackle on olly barkley against bath where he caused barkley to knock on with a huge hit.

  • There seem to be some really good tries in lots of places at the moment. Good work with these recent videos, any chance of the Tait try for Newcastle v Saracens getting in somewhere?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 01, 2008 2:45 pm

  • Look, guys, I know Wilko is a shadow of his former pre 2003 self and I for one am gutted that we'll never EVER see a Wilko-Carter show down (I don't even think the two have ever met on the same pitch?) But I don't really see why people should be so needlessly mean and insulting towards a guy who has done so much for English Rugby.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 02, 2008 1:06 am

  • Wilkinson played (with a ruined shoulder) against Carter for the Lions, only once at 10 I think though. Shame if we don't see them against eachother on top form.

Is there actually a way to request videos on here because I really want to see this Tait try from the weekend?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 02, 2008 4:15 pm

  • I've added a Requests link to the top menu, so if there's anything I've missed or that isn't posted yet, please request it there and I'll try get it up.

The Matthew Tait try was excellent. I don't think people realise how quick he actually is. We'll try get it up in the next week or so hopefully.

  • Sorry but as a French lad I cannot be impressed by that action.. In fact I've seen Michalak do that on countless occasion.. so nothing special here.

Plus Cipriani has got to remove that helmet !! Helmet are so unstylish unless your are a second row, never wear those !

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2008 6:53 pm

  • ^ lol very true but I think hookers and number 8s can wear them aswell.

Good from Cipriani, he's quick, skilled and can kick but he's not as good as he could be just yet.

Does anyone else think Sackey is just a slightly less better version of Shane Williams? Always just the finisher, never creates or takes part in anything other than diving on loose ball or sprinting, unchallenged over the line. Start Simpson-Daniel or try and shove Tait in at wing

    DK

  • really cant compare sackey and williams williams is agile and sackey cant step...
as for all he wilko lovers i think you need to stop living in the past what he did for rugby as a whole was incredible but rugby is evolving and wilko simply cant step up.
ofcouse danny isnt at his best the kids 20 years old... but with out a doubt knowing danny personally i'll gaurantee he'll be thee best player at the next world cup...
his pace is second to none there is no quicker fly half world wide

he's as quick as a winger...his kicking is forever improving and his attacking awareness is phenominal.

wilko was known for his kicking and big hits

daniel cipriani will be the complete 10 come next cup...

By Blogger jw, at April 29, 2008 4:07 pm

  • cipriani isn't anything spectacular, he is a hyped english 10, he wasnt even loking for sackey

By Anonymous Anonymous, at July 01, 2008 3:23 am

  • how can u possibly say wilko is crap at kicking?
how do u get to be the all-time highest point scorer if ur crap at kicking, especialy considering he had almost three years off international rugby!?

  • no doubt it was a great bit of play from Cipriani and a good try, but it shouldn't have counted as the pass to Cips from Waters was forward!!!
