Chris Patersons still got the gas
Known more for his incredible kicking success rate lately, Chris Paterson showed on Saturday that he still has plenty of gas in the tank by scoring this great 50 metre try vs Bath.
Paterson came on as a replacement for Ryan Lamb and with his first touch of the ball made an immediate impact. His outside break leaving the tiring Bath defence in his wake, causing the match leaders a bit of a scare with this sensational individual try.
The game could have changed from there, with the score at 10-5, but Paterson, the man who didn't miss a kick in the World Cup, ironically hit the post. Gloucester just didn't have what it took to come back and Bath came out tops.
Fantastic try, especially considering the muddy conditions, and once again it goes to show that there is no substitute for pace.

I am big fan of Mossy and he is dangerous out in the open.
Hopefully Scotland will make some noise in the 6 Nations this year.

I doubt Howlett could've done it any faster.

it still shows that after his 100% kicking in the 2003 world cup, he csn still play rugby the way he wants to (skinny, fast, but an awsome rugby player all around the park)

Wow, that was a nice run!
Too bad he didn't get the kick right.

Scotland really can produce some special players, still has great pace, probably the most consistent kicker in the world, a great utility back as well.

it was the 2007 world cup he did the 100% kicking taking on kicks he knew he would get and leaving the 50/50s to dan parks. and he is not the fastest in world rugby habana is the fastest. he is not that great a player looking at others in the world he is average

Chris Parterson is legend, best kicker in the world so fuck ur english piece of shit jonny wilkionson
By Anonymous, at January 28, 2008 3:05 am
who said anything about england i can see an average player no matter where they are from and paterson is average

Oh dear, what's going on at the bottom of this then. Hell of a lot of assertions going on here. It was a good try, he'd just come on so he was fresh, we couldn't do it... and on a side note, parks took one kick at goal whilst Mossy was on the field during the RWC. 100% is still an awesome achievement. Not one I'd call average., each to their own I guess. Any chance we could just applaud some good rugby and leave all the negative one eyed stuff at the door? Just because he doesn't come from your country doesn't make him gash, and vice-versa.

GET IT SORTED PEOPLE IT WAS A GOOD TRY, AND YES HE IS A GOOD PLAYER WITH SOME EXCELLENT SKILLS IN GOAL KICKING. BUT IT IS DEBATEABLE WHETHER HE IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD (ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU PUT WILKINSON, O'GARA, HOOK, CARTER ETC IN THE MIX). AND DTOP BEING SO NARROW MINDED JUST COS THE SAME NATIONALITY AS HIM DOESNT MEAN THAT HE IS THE FASTEST IN THE WORLD. BECAUSE, EVERYTHING ASIDE, THAT HE CERTAINLY ISNT. (HAVNT U EVER HEARD OF CAUCAU, HABANA, CHAVANGHA, NEGWENYA, SIVIVATU, VARNDEL ETC)

He is actually by far the fastest player in the world. he runs 100 metres in 9.1 seconds.
He's also the strongest player in the world and rumour has it he can bench press Euan Murray and Nathan Hines at the same time... one on each arm.
For that alone the man is a legend. Plus he is the only player in world rugby who manages to score points whilst looking like a Geography teacher.

@ Diarmid : get your facts right
usain Bolt onlyt runs 100 meters in 9.58 seconds, so even if paterson could run 100m in 9.1 (which he cant) he certainly wouldnt be playing rugby, as he would be sprinting on an athletics track
secondly, euan murray and nathan hines weigh up to about 230-240kg (115-120 each), so once again, you're talking bullsh°t

Oh dear Luxi... couldn't you tell the man was joking?! When a bloke says Chris Paterson can run 9.1 seconds and bench press 250kg...
You need to get a sense of humour mate, as if the geography teacher comment didn't tip you off there.
Diarmid, for what it is worth, I laughed!
