Rupeni Caucau vs the Tahs 'The rest of em are dinosaurs!'

We wouldn't want an overload of one particular player, but since finding more footage of Monsieur CauCau, I figured I'd post his highlights between current games and previous big hits etc.

This was back in the Super 12 when playing for the Blues against the Waratahs. A fit CauCaunibuca shows SERIOUS gas to score the first, leaving the 'Tahs for dead. The second is another classic, making the game look so simple.

  • Explain the quote. I don't understand what it's from.

  • That's just what the commentator says at the end. He's implying that Caucau is so quick that everybody else just sorta stands there and looks like a dinosaur.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 02, 2007 5:51 pm

  • hes name is jason robinson
    yer that guy aint fast!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 08, 2007 12:08 pm

  • jason robinson!? hes got nothin on caucau

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 09, 2007 6:57 am

  • Caucau is the greatest winger ever. Seeing him in his prime in real life was the most amazing thing in rugby. Better than jonah in his prime. Now for David Smith

  • First of all Jason Robinson is 30 something and at his best would smoke anyone on 50 meters. He might not be the fastest on 100, but he is even faster than this guy.

  • jason robinson got nothing on caucau . ive seen him in his prime when he was coming up as the new best wing back at fiji he was playing sevens for the fiji barbarians i think and he literally ran around the whole sevens team he was playing against

  • Go watch NZ-Eng from 2002 and watch Howlett smoke Robinson. Here Howlett gives the ball back to Caucau because he's quicker.

  • He is a hero, just an absolute super hero. If they were to make a comic book about a rugby player, he would be the main character!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at March 19, 2008 12:41 am

  • Im English, and yes Robinson is quick, but Caucau is something else. Different leaque!!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at March 20, 2008 7:08 pm

  • Robinson is a better all round player than CauCau, but CauCau would beat him in a race.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at April 02, 2008 3:47 pm

  • yeah thats right caucau is the fastest wing on the rugby field not even JR could get near him

By Anonymous Anonymous, at June 05, 2008 5:54 am

  • Angus,
To say robinson is a better all-round player than caucau is a massive overstatement. I usually don't comment in the forums caus a lot of people just wank on but i think that you would actually be enlightened to watch some highlights of rupeni. Not taking anything away from robison, he's a great player and blew me away when he came on the last lions tour to australia and smoked us. i'm obviously ausie and also a massive tah's fan and i've seen damage done by both of these guys to my favourite teams so i'm not biased. I think you should check it out.

  • caucau is the best player with ball in hand i have ever seen and a far more dangerous player than jason robinson, who was an outstanding attacking player in his own right.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 20, 2008 9:12 pm

  • caucau is by far the best winger world wide since jonah lomu.the day he retires then and only then can someone pick up the mantle.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at September 28, 2008 1:37 am

  • how can someone who was at the pinaccle of the game for such a short period of time be considered the greatest ever at their position? I am no Jason Robinson fan (I am am Scottish and therefore suffer from a bizarre dillusion that Sean Lamont may be the gretest winger of the modern era) but he smoked people for over a decade and a half, and was pretty much at the top when he called it a day.

That said, I could watch clips like these all day.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 29, 2008 1:47 am

  • TOO FAST TOO GOOD!!!,,hope he gets back to this form...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at February 10, 2009 8:01 am

  • At the guy suggesting Jason Robinson was the best winger ever, deluded much? Caucua was the single biggest waste of talent ive ever seen and even as such a waste he still has amazing highlights. The guys an absolute freak,in the world cup 03 fiji only had to pass him the ball and he did the rest. Best wing ever imo would go to lomu or jeff wilson, biased admitedly but neither come from canterbury.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at April 01, 2009 2:54 pm

  • Robinson=Best acceleration
    CauCau=Best Speed
over 30 metres jason would win
over 50 metres i think rupeni would win and over 100 metres rupeni would win.
in three yards of space jason would just step his man but caucau would just go round em with pace.
Lions Tour 2001, 1st test jason robinson try.
rupeni vs francce not sure when but he makes rougerie look so slow
