England vs France Semi Final preview

With both sides having reached the Semi Finals with narrow wins against Southern Hemisphere giants, England and France are both one step away from the World Cup final.

For England, their supporters will be over the moon as based on previous performances they never would have expected it. England have come to the party though, and lets not forget that they are the current World Champions after all.

France on the other hand have the expectations of a nation on their shoulders, which could have a great positive effect on the side, or the pressure to perform will be too much for them.

Don't count on seeing an expansive game if thats what you were hoping for. Both sides have excellent forward packs and will no doubt battle it out up front, with their respective quality kickers have pot shots at goal and exchanging penalties.

Personally I think France have the edge, but if this world cup has shown us one thing, it's that you should always expect the unexpected.

Enjoy this compilation clip of previous England vs France encounters as we count down to the crunch game tomorrow evening in Paris.

  • I think the home support will give France an edge over England.
That and the fact that Wilkinson is still far from fit, and in a game which will be decided by the forwards, fly-halfs are essential to collect those extra points.
France will be in the final and go on to be world champions against the Boks or the Pumas... don´t matter which.

  • France needs to score tries and widen the gap far enough to prevent Wilkinson from closing it. But if they play as disciplined as last match, they could win it. It really comes down to discipline, because the defense of France is strong, real strong and the All Blacks couldnt break through and I dont think England could do what NZ couldnt.

Im rooting for France, but what you expect with the name. ;-)

  • Anyone notice it was the same names over and over....Lewsey, Catt, Tindall (with ofcourse a few others....) but those were the main names....I think England rely too heavily on a few names. im hoping to see another big performance from the English pack this weekend though!

On their day France are streets ahead of england. Just for vision, flair, execution of the move and overall class. This world cup, england arent worthy to be crowned world champions.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at October 14, 2007 2:35 am

  • Let's face it France got stuffed by England. Lewsey stuffed Traille in under two minutes and Chabal got a F***ing hammering from the England forwards. Result : The French are full of P**s and wind. End of Story.

    Swing Low Sweet Chariot!!!

  • The English played the English way.
The French played the English way.
That was the big fault of 'Les Blues', a very wrong tactic against England. If they played the way they did against Ireland this spring they could have won, but it certainly would be more fun to watch.

    By Blogger Sea-Bass, at October 14, 2007 5:08 pm

  • i dont necessarily think england will win again, i will back them and i hope they do but im just happy they made it to the finals.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at October 14, 2007 9:27 pm

  • seriously! firstly who ever said we'd lose well HA! and someone said its englands second fluke win well its not if its happened twice in a row d*ck! Finally i think we deserve it more than last time! RWC 03 everyone expected us to win and we did. then we had a dismal 4 years. now its RWC 07 and i barely thought we were going to get through the group stages let alone get to the final. No one expected it but the boys have done it so unlucky 'Les Bleus' COME ON ENGLAND!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at October 15, 2007 10:48 am

  • for the c**ks who didnt think england could do it, fcuk you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! watch england this 6 nations, were taking eveything home. COME ON ENGLAND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
