Percy gets up-ended by Habana
This is only a few minutes into the 2007 Super 14 Final, played in the Durban 'Sharktank'. The game itself was fairly scrappy throughout. There were, however, several crunching tackles; some legal, others not.
This is obviously one of the not-so-legal tackles, as Byan Habana clearly takes Percy Montgomery in the air. Should it have been a yellow-card? If it had occured later in the game I think it would have been... But it was very early and the referee, Steve Walsh, didn't want to send anyone to the bin just yet, by the looks of things.
Habana said this about it:
"It must have looked awful from the stands but I never had any intention of hurting Monty. As I went in for the tackle I slipped and could not stop myself."
Interesting note: When Walsh is talking to Matfield and Habana he says there are a "few problems" with the tackle. "Firstly...You took the man out in the air, etc etc." and then he never really finishes with that. He just proceeds to say he wants composure, and then they play on.

Does look pretty bad, however notice that it does not spark a fight or confrontation between the players. Compare this to football; where after something like this they would be pushing each other around trying to mess up each other hairstyles, and pleading with the ref to card the transgressor.

Shut the hell up! I hope you're not condoning dirty play? He should've got a yellow card at the least! And let's not talk about the "try that shouldn't have been"!

You guys sound like soccer fans...why do you have to attack someone just because you don't share their opinion? Especially when yours is wrong Percy is a good player, the only way he resembles Beckham (who is also a good player) is with his gay hairstyle! For me it could have been a yellow but, like the commentators said, good decision by the ref.

Personally I think the reason this was so bad was Habana's great speed. You can see that Bryan is rocketing at Percy as the ball is coming down and then Percy jumps and Habana can't stop himself. Bosh. I think the reason that the ref didn't award a yellow was that he reckoned it wasn't a targetted attack but a mistake. Still, it was a hell of a takedown!

LMFAO! "try that shouldn't have been"! Bro, you're really a wanker! Bulls won, end of story! Mistakes is part of any game, including Rugby! Get over it...
Ice-t (June 03, 2007 10:07 PM):
Bro, leave Rugby for real men, who enjoy's the game, and not the men playing the game. Go polish your rocket while you stare at David Beckham posters on your bedroom walls... Faggit!

looks bad from the side angle but from the back angle you can see that what bryan said is true, he has slipped, and he ducks his head and puts his arms up to protect his head from percys falling boots, unfortunately because he was sprinting then he just carried on moving.
