Leinster vs Leicester - Big hit and amazing defense
Crowd favourite Alesana Tuilagi absolutely smashes Gordon Darcy as he gets a ball-and-all pass from Argentinian star Felipe Contepomi. The powerhouse Samoan wing times the tackle perfectly, hitting Darcy hard and driving him to the floor.
Even more more sensational than that though was a bit of defensive brilliance from big Leinster winger Shane Horgan. After a loose ball is picked up by Irish international Geordan Murphy, Leicester looked sure to score a spectacular break away try. Shane Horgan chased hard though, and miraculously caught Murphy, who most people would have backed to go all the way. Horgan then made another try saving tackle, this time on Tuilagi. He then got into the ruck and helped to win the ball for his team. Brilliant speed and commitment shown by the big guy. I wonder though, was it more Horgan's sheer speed or Murphy's lack of gas?
Alex Tuilagi's tackle was fun to watch, but it was the only moment in the game where he really stood out. Shane Horgan, and indeed the entire Leinster squad, fired the entire 80 minutes in their defensive work. Big and desperate tackles were in abundance and in the end it paid off with them coming out tops.
Final Score: 22-9 to Leinster

Can someone tell me why it isn't a penalty against Horgan when, after stepping over the tackled player, he falls straight off his feet? It allows the Leinster players to reform the ruck beyond the ball and turn it over.
Great pace to prevent thr try though, expect Murphy to take plenty of stick for that the next time Ireland come together.
Anyone else think Tuilagi looks uninterested in scoring th try?

The video IS available. You probably just need to check your settings, or your boss has blocked youtube at your office. It's working fine for everyone else though.

i agree tuilagi did not seem interested in scoring a try...because i reckon if he really wnated to he would have gone straight through to the line

Tuilagi was probably knackered, and tbh i assume he realised he was isolated and perhaps made the wrong decision by looking for support... he ran back towards murphy.
my money was on Horgan the whole way. his pace is unbelievable.
great vid!

Leinster's try was a thing of beauty! You dont see many tries off first phase these days!!

Again Tuilagi fails to change the direction when in for a certain try, as pointed out though he wasnt at full steam and was merely jogging.BUT if he had went on the outside and gone around Dempsey he would have scored as there is no way Dempsey would put him down with his outside shoulder. Still thinking if Tom Varndell had of been there it would have a been a try

Horgan's actual tackle on murphy wasn't great but the fact that murphy knew he was about to get him was what made him pass the ball away
Still well played though and great commitment from Horgan

Murphy appears to have lost pace. Either that or Horgan has gained some. I'm thinking its the former.

not to take anything away from leinsters defence, but tuilagi was clearly jogging, that close to the line if he had lifted the tempo a bit he would have barged over!

I watch it as it was being played and Horgan did some amazing backtracking! What a show of sheer determination!
I think the reason that it isn't a penalty against Horgan at the breakdown is because the front men had already cleared out the opposition at the ruck, meaning it was only players from leinster there, technically meaning that it isn't a ruck, either that or the ref was in shock at what Horgan had just done!!!

murphy hasnt lost any pace, hes just a bit of a weak lad who slows down when he has a heavy rugby ball in his hands

Felipe Contepomi was the man of the match, and I think that he is probably one of the best players of the world

y are people sayin contepomi was man of the match
He gave darce that hospital pass and got hit hit
and hes the man who lost the ball and nearly gave leicster the try
