Rico Gear smashed by Benson Stanley

This recent tackle, by young Benson Stanley on Rico Gear, isn't necessarily the biggest or most spectacular hit you'll ever see. What it is however, is pretty much technically perfect.

Stanley runs in from far and demolishes All Black Gear, hitting him hard in the midriff and effectively knocking the wind out of him.

The tackle was perfectly timed, forcing Gear to take some time out to regain his bearings and suck some oxygen back into his lungs.

Just goes to show the youngsters out there, you don't have to be a big guy to make devastating tackles.

Rico's a legend, I can't wait for him to get to Worcester.

its amazing the lack of comments on this page now that the RWC hype has stopped.....kinda like people just commented cos it was the world cup, rather than because they had a clue about rugby......

to be fair, the world cup is something the whole world can watch, the last clip is from the heineken cup which isnt that accessable, plus the standard and frequency of the world cup videos was much better. but yeah the amount of people that were just coming in to insult other nationalities and jumped on the bandwagon - was stupid .

Lighten up, you dont have to have a clue about rugby to enjoy watching it and everyones entitled to their own opinion.

Ive been watching this kid hit like this since he was playing 1st XV for Auckland Grammar. He does it consistently for the Ponsonby Seniors who he captains and he has done it consistently for Auckland this year. Its these sorts ot tackles that put fear ito the opposition. I also noted that in the ANZ Cup Final. Wellington never directed any attack at Stanley and they had Ricos brother marking him who actually came off and then the 'much feared',Ma'a Nonu marking him. Not once did either of them run at Stanley.The last time NZ won the WRC was when Smokin' Joe was playin 13. Maybe we will win it again when another Stanley is playing in the same position.
