USA Sevens - HUGE hit effects the try
A big tackle by the States' Todd Clever at the San Diego Sevens sends them on their way to a try after the ball gets jarred loose with the impact.
Apparently Clever made a whole heap of massive hits at the tournament. Impressive stuff.
Update: Vid was down briefly.. back up now though.

i've seen clever play before. you'll notice he only makes hits on 2nd/3rd tier teams. he's quite a thug.

Todd Clever is the best forward to ever put on an Eagle Jersey. And we have only seen the begining...

That's a bold statment there have been some very good forwards to play for the States. Nothing to take away from Clever, cause nobody can deny he is the real deal.

who is the other team Kenya? Nice hit but it doesn't really rate to some of wilkinson's or Dan Scarborough's a few weeks ago against SA.

a thug, because he hits 2nd/3rd tiers?
If you are asking for people to pick on people their own size... well, the US is a 2nd/3rd tier country, so they are indeed.
And as for 7s, Kenya presents itself at a much higher level in 7s than in 15s, so there.
It's silly to call Clever the greatest ever. Is he the greatest contemporary? Very likely.
But it's mental masturbation to try and compare him to guys of other eras. Kevin Swords, Tom Billups, Dan Lyle, Dave Hodges, Luke Gross?
All great players. Also all players who paved the way for Todd to jump into intl rugby at a younger age than his ancestors.
Also, Todd has yet to wear the captaincy (to my knowledge), whilst all the guys above led their teams. Once Hercus is gone, Todd may very well be the next "C", and we'll see how much better he makes his teammates

Until then, enjoy Clever's great hit, and his 1st tier shot on Butch James...

wow awesome hit!!!

To call Todd Clever a thug is ignorant - agressive on the field and a sweetheart off. Probably "Mr. Congeneiality" of the Eagles

How annoying are you? They got exited because one of their countrymen got a big hit, get over it.
Very nice hit by clever, very textbook.
