Tom Varndell hatrick vs Harlequins
Leicester pummelled Harlequins 42-13 on Sunday in a game that saw the Tigers burying the home side, aided by the 'Quins poor defence and scrappy passing. Tom Varndell scored a hatrick and Tom Croft finished off two crackers.
Varndell's first try was a beauty. Andy Goode, going left pulled off a 'banana kick' par excellence, with the speedster Varndell chasing and easily catching to go over for the try.
For years we've seen Carlos Spencer (the creator of the unpredictable banana kick) putting Doug Howlett through for tries like this, for both the Auckland Blues and the All Blacks. Spencer perfected it, and with a speedster running the correct line, it's very difficult to defend against.
Andy Goode is another that seems to have perfected it, and justifiably so. Talented flyhalf, incredibly fast wing - 'Lets give it a go'.
Nice to see Tom Varndell making good on all his promise. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of him this season.
UPDATE: After many requests, I've added the Varndell Hatrick here instead of just the one try. Enjoy.

id actually have varndell over sackey in the england team, strettle on the other and tait at FB, probs even pick james SD over him, don't get me wrong he was good in the world cup but i think his body positining in contact and recycling are crap, and hes not mentally with it, remember seeing him defend the england line, the oppo was on the floor, sackey was first there and instead of stepping over him an taking the ball he just stood there, ruck formed they recycled and scored.

It is a common tactic these days I suppose.
Hats off to King Carlos for always being innovative.
A few years back he did the 'chip' over the defence with the knee a few times. Worked brilliantly, until it got outlawed.

1st poster... Sackey has been on fire so far this season, was our top scorer at the WC and has really improved the weaker areas of his game. I'm looking forward to seeing him in action at the 6N. (as long as Cueto is in there... he is a legend!)

Cueto?!
Sorry mate but based on form the 4 wings that will be chosen by Ashton are Sackey, Strettle, JSD and Varndell. They are all streets ahead of Cueto at the moment. Having said that I wouldn't be suprised if he gets selected as he may be seen as the 'safe' option.

Varndell wasn't offside, they showed in the replay on the match that he was dead level, which was fine.
On the NZ influence thing, I think Mauger would probably have encouraged it - but Goodey has done this thing before, notably when he set up shane jennings' try in the heineken semi final against llanelli, so doubt it would be all NZ influence!

You DON'T play good rugby in the north; apart from the Welsh on a good day, and the French in their day. The English are the most boring team in the world. Just because you've coached your backs to be robots - as in they couldn't be naturally creative if their lives depended on it - doesn't mean you're good. Varndell is overatted. He can finish, but he can't create. Same with Paul Sakey. Just because they're fast and can finish doesn't make them 'great'. England should stop promoting mediocracy and start scouting for some actual, creative rugby talent. 'Till then, "Same old England, Always Boring!"

Ha! good wind up attempt mate but il take 'boring' world cup finals.
You do have a point that our backs havent been functioning but "not playing good rugby in the north" Do me a favour.

I think NZ and Aus played some lovely rugby as they got spanked out of the world cup by the northern hemisphere teams who cant play good rugby

ha ha Max and what country do you support that must play such good rugby. rugby isnt aboout just scoreding tries, its about territorial dominance and taking the points when on offer, i don remember SA scoring a try in the WCF so you can't always play open rugby

I bleed red, white and green but no way should TV be in the England squad over Sackey.
TV's defense has improved and so has his kicking, but he doesn't get involved enough consistently.
He should be in the England squad gaining experience, and maybe coming off the bench or a run but he shouldn't be starting yet

Could someone find a video of Varndell smoking through the line because this video kind of makes him appear slow which is absurd because he's so fast
