Wales vs France - Six Nations 2005
As a preview to this weekends Six Nations decider between Wales and France, here is a fantastic clip from the classic match in 2005 between the same two nations.
This documentary style footage tells the story of a great day in Paris, when the French flair and pace put Wales to the ultimate test.
Inspired by Martyn Williams with two tries, and Stephen Jones with as accurate a boot as ever, Wales came out winners 24-18 and later went on to win the Grand Slam for that year.
This weekend's showdown between the two sides should be a classic, with both teams having shown that they like to throw the ball around and play exciting rugby.
It's tough to call this one, but I reckon Wales may just have the edge, especially with the 75 000 faithful cheering on their every move.
Predictions anyone?

wales will win the match in the last minutes because of the defence and the unexperince players of france
By Anonymous, at March 13, 2008 11:44 pm
it's a really new young team for France
and Wales seems to be in really good fit actually - unbeaten during this tournament
I hope my national team will win - But the red devils scare me this year

Hard to tell right now! But I'm afraid the welsh are more then ever capable of doing this to us again! They are solid and we are still too messy! I still predict a close game and I hope it will be a good show!

I'm gonna say Wales by 10.

I hate predicting....Wales by 5

I love watching France or Wales, it's great to see two sides playing the game the way it should be played. A fantastic tonic to all the negativity of England/Ireland and Scotland. Brings back memories of the good old 1970s and you couldn't wish for a better finale to the Six Nations. Roll on 5pm.

It's gonna be very close, but they're playing at home...can't wait 'til tomorrow!

I can't wait to hear the national anthem in The Millenium Stadium - roof closed and all...oh to be in Cardiff this weekend!!! I think Wales' win by 6 or more. They have only missed one kick all tournament, only let in 2 tries all tournament and Shaun Edwards is really putting the boys through hell this week...expect some really big hits!

Gotta be France.
24-16 to France
By Anonymous, at March 14, 2008 12:35 pm
I think Wales will do it. Home advantage should be enough to give them the edge over a French side that isn't exactly gathering momentum. The French only seem to get past defenses via a) the work of Cedric Heymans to put Clerc or others (himself included) into space or b) (as we saw last week when Heymans was omitted) little kicks over the top.
Granted, France aren't the only team in world rugby that are currently resorting to these tactics of using their best players or, where absent, kicks to get behind defenses.

France have scored 11 tries aswell during this 6N! MUPPET!
It's going to be tight but pretty chuffed cedric heymans isn't starting.. and rougerie not in the team! Goodness
Wales win by 15 (fingers crossed)
By Anonymous, at March 14, 2008 1:15 pm
France to win, but Wales gets the tournemet. Hopefully England will get trashed and scotland will slaughter Italy So that Scotland finishs 4th.(but I'm just dreaming there)
By Anonymous, at March 14, 2008 1:17 pm
Think that because france need to win by 20 points, that'll probably mean they run the ball a lot more which is also good news for us. I think we'll be more up for it than the french, think we'll win by 10 (hopefully).
By Anonymous, at March 14, 2008 1:28 pm
france to win. i think they should be the first team this 6N to really challenge wales for the full 80 mins. should be a great match, won't be able to see it tho.
By Anonymous, at March 14, 2008 3:07 pm
We'll see great rugby for sure....I think Wales by 5-7...But I really like yachvili.great player.

either way it will be cracker, hard to top this match. what a comeback we had.
one of the finest matches being played between Wales and France ever.

I got my ticket ready, my booze money sorted and my hip flask topped up. I don't care really. Win or lose, Wales have far exceeded my expectations considering the shit under ex management. Grand Slam is just a bonus and an excuse for me to stay out in Cardiff after the match and not come home until the trains start running again!

whoop whoop. Henson got smashed. what is up with the french squad. Haymons clerk and rougarie are about the most destructive combination of back three players in world rugby, and he changes it all round in a match that really matters. Also Trahn Duc was doin great but hes pet skrella there instead. What a retard.

everyone that predicted france to win....ill take my apologies in writing please :D (First comment)

I don't really understand Lievremont, I'm okay with making some experiments, but when the Tournament is at stake, he should have put the best team, whatever the age of the player or anything. First putting Skrela in the squad was really idiot, it's been 2 weeks he plays like a U18 in the Top14, and when I saw that kickoff going backwards, I just couldn't understand how the coach didn't notice Skrela played so bad since the loss against Perpignan...
And where is Rougerie ? Damn, he's the best winger in France, along with Clerc and Heymans (but since Poitrenaud is injured, Heymans plays 15) so why didn't he play ? He showed amazing power and speed in his games... I don't criticize Malzieu, Rougerie's teammate at Clermont, but he only got 2 caps, he's not ready to play such a match.
Floch was not bad either, but compared to Heymans...
The scrum was awful, especially at the 70th minute, when France was 10 meters away from the Welsh tryline...
Great game Wales ! And nice Grand Slam ;)

It is a very messy night in Cardiff at the moment. The French, in their clans of berets and tidy shaved mustaches, slagging off the Welsh people as they walk past. They don't know that some people did French in School. Anyway, it seemed tough today than any other game, but I guess the expectation on the team was intense. We could have lost it to Ireland, as I thought that was more tense. This year was a good year for me as a Welsh man to watch the Rugby, and thats all thanks to Warren Gatland, Shaun Edwards, and Rob Howley. I hope that Gatland and Howley put pen to paper before our games against the Boks. Thanks boys.

what a game it was, edge of my seat for so many of its nail biting moments, the fantastic scrum (for us anyway) at the 70th minuite, Shane's record breaker, and Mark Jones fucking fantastic run, held up about 3m short of the line! bless him he's a great defender but he NEVER scores the tries, but what a run it was :D

Congrats Wales!
Well deserved win. Our team is still pretty experimental but it's no excuse. Looking forward to playing you again next year!
