The End of Year Tours 2009
November was an extremely busy month on the international rugby calender as the world watched the might of the southern hemisphere take on the best of the north in Tests across Europe.
We brought you highlights from each and every big match over that period, so you hopefully didn't miss out on any of the action in what was an intriguing month of rugby.
There's been mutterings that the standard of play was not of the highest order, and while that may be true to an extent, it was a fascinating few weeks that produced a few surprise results, and gave teams a fairly good indication of where they are in terms of building towards 2011.
While New Zealand have regained their spot at the top of the world rankings with a great set of results on tour, South Africa had a lousy time and will now have a much needed rest. It was a disapointing time for the Wallabies as they didn't achieve their Grand Slam, but they ended the tour on a high with a nice win over Wales, who themselves played some good rugby at times.
England weren't too impressive as they were struck down by injuries once again, Scotland achieved a historic win over Australia, and Ireland showed why they are Six Nations champions, and why they'll be such a threat again when things kick off early next year. France on the other hand, put in a great performance against the Springboks, but fell to pieces against a rampant All Black side.
Moustaches, Rasta singers, and a suspension or two, November had it all, and you can relive the best bits through this excellent video made by a top RD video contributor. Enjoy, and be sure to check out the Heineken Cup action this weekend, as Round 3 kicks off tonight. If you miss it, we'll get the good stuff up here early next week.

By geordie, at December 11, 2009 7:25 pm
that first image of the french after the scrum gives me goose bumps. those props were awesome against SA!!!
By Anonymous, at December 11, 2009 7:32 pm
this had to be one of the worst vids ive seen this guy make.
1 clip of a scotland game?????
and god knows how many stupid english clips of them doing nothing!
By no9, at December 11, 2009 7:34 pm
Ahaha, O'Driscoll the leprechaun in him came out against Australia.
I enjoyed the Autumn tests if for nothing else, they showed Shane Williams can still do what Shane Williams does best...he had a god-awful Lions tour, but it's nice to see when he gets the ball he can still work those feet. That, and seeing Habana play so well in the Baa Baa's game - that was awesome.
Does anyone know if Elissalde played for France at all, or is he pretty much out of contention now?
By Anonymous, at December 11, 2009 8:11 pm
Absolutely awesome video!
Agree with the slow-mo comment: it shows the great skill leven of some players, and obviously it adds to the drama ;)
By Sander, at December 11, 2009 8:46 pm
Thanks RD!!! Great vid and awesome music!!
Does anyone know the title of the songs?
By El gringo, at December 11, 2009 9:11 pm
Well made video, but ridiculously Eurocentric.
You'd think the 6 nations teams had been the better sides watching that.
By Anonymous, at December 11, 2009 9:34 pm
Elissalde is still playing for Toulouse but Marc Lievremont, the national coach, wants to prepare 2011 and that's why he's building a younger team with new players.
Actually, Jauzion replaced Maxime Mermoz injuried in the nz match. He's on the way out.
I believe Lievremont is doing the right thing but there's a lot of work ahead! As you saw for yourself xo(
Merci guetteba, t'assures!!!

By Anonymous, at December 11, 2009 11:21 pm
Really enjoyed the Italian try vs SA... skillfull and clever ( and in slo-mo : )
By Url, at December 11, 2009 11:37 pm
first of all, merci beaucoup to Guetteba.
Really liked the french props celebrating after the scrum @ the beginning of the video, (and Smit has a smile of it too).
Haskell shouting really brings out my idea of pride and desire of representing and playing for your country. He worked so hard to get back in the squad, he deserved it.
Loved the slo-mo of the Italy try vs SA, being italian I just loved it.
keep 'em coming RD, you're th.e best
By italianscrummy, at December 12, 2009 12:03 am
@ URL that was purely scored due to Adi Jacobs.
By Anonymous, at December 12, 2009 12:03 am
Great video RD :) Thoroughly enjoyed!
Still amazed at how AAC got through that English defence lol
And is it any real mystery why Scotland featured so little in this clip?
Scotland 6-9 Argentina (2 pens)
Scotland 9-8 Australia (2 pens, 1 drop goal)
Scotland 23-10 Fiji (2 tries, 3 pens, 2 cons)
By Phil, at December 12, 2009 12:07 am
Awesome video RD, unless there's 17 tries scored it seems the rugby is deemed 'boring' these days! I can certainly remember more boring autumn internationals anyway!
By Breaker, at December 12, 2009 12:53 am
That bit of editing done where Jaque Fourie was slow-mo running in the try zone with those HUUUUUGE strides and legs of his...it made me feel so primal, like a lion stalking its prey or something, great video works RD/guettab. Brilliant
By wuddup, at December 12, 2009 1:15 am
Personally I loved the End of year tours. Were a bit boring at the start of the month but definitly ended with a bang because of the ireland/s.a, n.z/france, n.z/baa-baa games. alot of controversy about high tacles e.t.c but that made it more interesting. Also enjoyed the upsets like scotland/aussie, france/s.a.
BRING ON 2010 !
By te-tank, at December 12, 2009 1:17 am
Very nice vid indeed.
Thanks for that!
HCup now!
By Nico, at December 12, 2009 1:21 am
Excellent video! Great music and great editing to match the music.
@Luciano you are a knob

Both of you grow up please.

By Anonymous, at December 12, 2009 2:10 am

this is a really good video ! great choice of music and great editing; i like the different shots of the tries and stuff. (Y)
really good
By Anonymous, at December 12, 2009 3:53 am
melodramatic, OTT, and a sign of the prominence of image over substance.
a real 'turn the sound down' type of vid, more in keeping with a Sky Sports clip in between cricket and soccer than RD.
By mise, at December 12, 2009 3:59 am
go listen to some black ass rap, mise, you bad boy.
By Anonymous, at December 12, 2009 4:07 am
really, anonymous above?
did you give that statement any thought before you typed it up and sounded like a twat?
By anoooonymous, at December 12, 2009 4:41 am
Is it not what you paid for Mise? Oh yeah.. wait..
By Shaft, at December 12, 2009 10:33 am
Wow, you lot know how to complain...
By Peter, at December 12, 2009 11:04 am

Thank RD and thanks Guetteba for this modern tribute to the November show!
By Anonymous, at December 12, 2009 12:14 pm
Great vid, merci beaucoup guetteba tes vidéos sont toujours super.
Ok we can see Wilko in the vid , but WHERE IS CARTER??? Especially in France-New zealand, where he has demonstrated that he is far the best player in the world.
And... i'm a frenchman!
By clem, at December 12, 2009 12:21 pm
EXCELLENT
By Anonymous, at December 12, 2009 12:23 pm

By Anonymous, at December 12, 2009 1:13 pm
Mise: melodramatic, OTT, and a sign of the prominence of image over substance.
What a fine pseudo-intellectual, may I touch it?
By Anonymous, at December 12, 2009 1:15 pm
It's a shame Cory Jane's try vs France wasn't included in that one.
By Anonymous, at December 12, 2009 2:36 pm
Can't believe that one of the most dramatic moments, Matt Giteau's missed conversion right at the end against Scotland wasn't included.
By Anonymous, at December 12, 2009 4:12 pm
God, I love rugby!!!
By Anonymous, at December 12, 2009 5:44 pm
great vid, but you missed Martín Rodríguez's drop goal against Scotland ;)
By Anonymous, at December 12, 2009 10:46 pm
Watching this made me wonder why so many people in the crowd are taking pictures with the flash on...
By Anonymous, at December 13, 2009 12:44 am
Meh
By Anonymous, at December 13, 2009 2:25 am
Makes me laugh how the only clip of Carter was his contrversial tackle against Wales.
By te-tank, at December 13, 2009 2:54 am
Good vid making a boring set of internationls look good.
By Jack, at December 13, 2009 7:10 am
A highlight clip of all the penalty goals and kicking back and forth should be put together to reflect the modern game.
By Anonymous, at December 13, 2009 7:53 am
This shows what true montages are all about, great music and great filming, I am sick and tired of watching rugby videos with heavy metal or some punk music, it is a classic game and deserves classic music. But I would have liked a bit more commentating/game sounds, but still 9/10 vid.
By Douglas, at December 13, 2009 8:20 am
So... beautiful...
By Francesco, at December 13, 2009 1:50 pm
This montage contains almost every single try scored by a European team, some twice.
By Anonymous, at December 13, 2009 4:56 pm
Someone needs to make a video like this of the whole year including the lions series other june internationals tri nations November internationals and six nations and don't forget the baabaas game
By Anonymous, at December 13, 2009 10:22 pm
Great vid. Would have been even better with Martin rodriguez´s winning droapgoal. keep the good stuff coming
By Phil, at December 13, 2009 10:22 pm
I can't believe that someone hasn't decapitated Shane Williams for the ridiculous showboating he pulls against second division teams. He did some of that mid-week on the Lions Tour in 2005 and got jacked up by Rico gear and Richie McCaw the following Saturday. A penalty for unsportsmanlike behavior would help.
By Ref, at December 13, 2009 11:37 pm
