Henry Tuilagi crushes lock Jamie Cudmore in Top 14 final

While Clermont are no doubt still celebrating from their big win, there was one moment in the Top 14 final against Perpignan that wasn't great for them, but was a heavyweight clash of note that's well worth taking a look at.

As the weekend nears, it's been another one of those hectic weeks but I've managed to cover most of the big games here on RD. By visiting the site you've been able to see highlights of the Super 14 final, the Guinness Premiership final, the Edinburgh Sevens final, the Magners League final, England against the Barbarians, and of course the Top 14 final.

This coming week will no doubt be similar, as the International season kicks off again with Test matches taking place all around the world. Visit again next week to see updates from those.

This requested clip though is a short snippet from the Top 14 final, as Clermont's Canadian hardman Jamie Cudmore gets chopped down to size by the monstrous force of none other than Henry Tuilagi.

It's not the first time Tuilagi has made his sizable presence felt, so check out the related posts to see more of his massive tackles, and take a look at Try Savers & Rib Breakers 11 to see if you can spot the clip where he easily drove Sebastien Chabal back recently.

Tomorrow on RD we've got something rather different that should bring a smile to your face if all goes to plan. Until then though, keep checking the archives, share links with your friends, and keep coming back for daily updates as we add to this incredible archive of rugby clips online.

  • Yes please gimme some of that! Brutal. You'd think it were him against a #9, not a lumbering, bulky giant in Cudmore.

  • face to shoulder, but this time is cudmore going low into the tackle which would've been massice anyway

  • Nice hit. Cudmore is a clown and a posturing hardman a lot of the time so nice to see him chopped. :)

  • while I'm no fan of cudmore I don#'t like that posturing rant the Tuilagi's seem to get off on when someone is down, possibly badly injured. Yes its the point to him hard, but that sort of stupidity belongs in WWF (not even MMA!)
Sure, allow in a bit of cultural flair, but not that WWF shit. Pl-ease.

  • Anonymous is right - check out Horgan and Tuilagi in last years HC final

    By Anonymous DubH16, at June 04, 2010 9:52 am

  • Oh My God...out cold! Henry was straight over to see if Cudmore was ok so MISE can get the hell out.

Massive hit, Cudmore should not have gone that low into the tackle, Tuilagi had a great tackling position and did nothing wrong but smash the dude.

  • Any chance of getting Wilkinson's hit on Xavier Rush from the Amlin final up?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at June 04, 2010 11:50 am

  • ^ That hit is up in the highlights from the match over here, first clip at 2:35. Please request in the requests section or via email in the future to make sure you get an answer. Thanks!

  • People think wrong about cudmore. He is far morze serious and clean than in the past. Unfortunately refs still judge him like the enemy n°1 on a pitch. Amazing player. And amazing tackle, even more because tuilagi's "victim" is the canadian.

  • nice one,i absolutely hate cudmore!!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at June 04, 2010 2:09 pm

  • Tuilagi - call the Ambulance.

I bet Cudmore will not be thanking the scrum half for that hospital pass! ouch

By Blogger Jonathan, at June 04, 2010 3:14 pm

  • Glad to see Cudmore getting smashed...obviously didnt have an opportunity to punch Tuilagi..

By Anonymous Anonymous, at June 04, 2010 4:08 pm

  • Cudmore is going very low, so the tuilagui shoulder isn't deliberate.

Just 2 hardmen meeting each other, one have lost:)

  • Man what's with all this Canadian hate? Lol like one of our ONLY professional rugby players at top level. That's probably why I love him so much I guess. Yeah he didn't have much time to prepare for that tackle, he sort of turtled and got knocked the ^$%$# OUT. Great legal hit by Tuilagi, coming from a Canadian.

Also, many ASM players were watching Henry as he was standing overtop of Cudmore there, if he had been talking shit, I'm sure Ledesma or somebody would have shoo'd Tuilagi away.

By Anonymous go canada eh, at June 04, 2010 11:27 pm

  • I ditto all of what 'go canada eh' said, apart from im not canadian!

But that post sums it all up really....IMO

    By Anonymous (u-p)rick, at June 05, 2010 12:52 am

  • It was a bit of a head clash, not really a ''crushing'' tackle. I don't have much time for the Tuilagi family, they seem to dominate European club rugby but can't do anything at the international stage.

By Anonymous Les Bleus, at June 05, 2010 1:34 am

  • Yea, anony-mouse and bradders:
it was genuine concern he was showing, whilst straddling him...... and the israelis were viciously attacked and only acted in self defence on that ship.........

By Anonymous mise, at June 05, 2010 1:57 am

  • Les Bleus, they certainly don't dominate European rugby. They occasionally do some pretty awesome things though.

The comments towards Cudmore and Canadians etc are pretty uncalled for. I believe it comes from his scuffle with POC, or, POS as I like to call him. Nothing like holding a grudge, eh?

By Anonymous Benson, at June 05, 2010 6:00 pm

  • 'Yea, anony-mouse and bradders:

Mise dont bring that shit up, there is plenty for and against about the israelis shit, and its nothing to do with rugby!

The simple fact is these were french teams, and they tend to be a bit fiery, do you think they would have stood by if Tuilagi was talking shit to cudmore? Someone would have pushed him away or shooed him away.....maybe he just stood over him but i doubt he said anything...

    By Anonymous (u-p)rick, at June 05, 2010 6:40 pm

  • Jamie Cudmore didn't get the time to get in the right position. Great hit though.
Could you show the two men tackle both Clermont flankers gave Tuilagi in the open field, which had him crushed and after which he managed to stay just 10 minutes more on the field?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at June 06, 2010 9:44 am

  • Henry Tuilagi's power is just sick. I don't think there is a player i would least like to play against, he just smashes other massive blokes like they were nothing. Those ones he did to Joe Van Niekirk were savage!
