Ireland vs South Africa at Croke Park - Preview

One of the biggest matches of the year takes place at Croke Park tomorrow as the much anticipated meeting between the champions of the north and the champions of the south will play out in front of 82 000 fans.

Grand Slam winners Ireland will be looking to claim the scalp of Tri Nations winners South Africa in a match that for some, will determine who gets the bragging rights for the next few months.

Both sides have had fantastic years, and whatever the result, that can’t take away from all that's been achieved for each team throughout the year.

Despite the loss to France recently, South Africa are still considered the best team in the world by many, so Ireland are looking to change perceptions as many of their senior players aim for revenge for a Lions series that they feel should have gone their way.

John Smit has said that it’s a pity only 82 000 could get a ticket for the match, as it’s bound to be a fierce encounter with plenty of niggle and hopefully some attractive rugby to go along with that. Brian O’Driscoll tried to play down the hype, but the Irish media have stressed the North vs South element throughout the week.

The Springboks have brought in Jean De Villiers and BJ Botha to stabilise the backline and scrum respectively, but De Villiers, now a Munster man, will start off the bench as Wynand Olivier will run out in the first fifteen.

World Cup winning number eight Danie Rossouw has been brought in to play in that self same position, while John Smit is back at the familiar position of Hooker, beefing up a scrum that’s come under much scrutiny on this tour.

The biggest talking point of the week in Ireland has been that Ronan O’Gara has been placed on the bench and they’re retained young flyhalf Jonny Sexton, who looked impressive throughout the season for Leinster, and then last week against Fiji.

It’s possibly the biggest game of the end of year tours, but that’s if you’re not French or Kiwi, as those two sides meet in Marseilles for a match that will be fascinating to say the least. There probably won’t be time to get a preview up for that game, but it’s also set to be a must watch. Between the two, Wales hosts Australia in a match that the Aussies will have to win to avoid another mauling from their local press.

Ireland 15 Rob Kearney, 14 Tommy Bowe, 13 Brian O’Driscoll (c), 12 Paddy Wallace, 11 Keith Earls, 10 Jonathan Sexton, 9 Tomas O’Leary, 8 Jamie Heaslip, 7 David Wallace, 6 Stephen Ferris, 5 Paul O’Connell, 4 Donncha O’Callaghan, 3 John Hayes, 2 Jerry Flannery, 1 Cian Healy.
Subs: 16 Sean Cronin, 17 Tony Buckley, 18 Leo Cullen, 19 Sean O’Brien, 20 Peter Stringer, 21 Ronan O’Gara, 22 Gordon D’Arcy.

Springboks 15 Zane Kirchner, 14 JP Pietersen, 13 Jaque Fourie, 12 Wynand Olivier, 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Morne Steyn, 9 Fourie du Preez, 8 Danie Rossouw, 7 Schalk Burger, 6 Heinrich Brussow, 5 Victor Matfield, 4 Bakkies Botha, 3 BJ Botha, 2 John Smit (c), 1 Beast Mtawarira.
Subs: 16 Bismarck du Plessis, 17 CJ van der Linde, 18 Andries Bekker, 19 Jean Deysel, 20 Dewald Potgieter, 21 Ruan Pienaar, 22 Jean de Villiers.

  • O gara' stats are: 1.83 m (6' 0") 84 kg (13 st 2 lb)

    sextons are: 1.88 m (6' 2")92 kg(14 st 6 lb)

so really only a stone in it. when i think of sexton i don't see him as "a big strong guy" (like skinstad said) but just a really skillful player and i can't wait to see him tmw! His defence isn't amazing but is better than ogaras (not hard!).

anyway may the best team win!

  • Should be a great game, and unless it's a draw will set the RugbyDump forum ablaze!

In fact, here are a couple of stock comments for you to copy and paste to save time typing tomorrow evening:

"Hah! Told you NH>SH, proof once again that the third-world SH sides are no match for the might of European rugby."

    or

"Confirmed again, SH>NH. Just when are you losers going to accept that the big guys from the south are the only rugby nations worth talking about? Suckers."

  • I'm afraid to say it but having looked at the bok team and the fact that they are hurting after the game against france ( see what they did to NZ after the loss to Oz in this years 3N) hope i'm wrong but I think the boks are going to put a big score on to end their year which has effectively been THEIR year...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 27, 2009 7:24 pm

  • Scotthill I think they mean that he's a big strong guy in comparison to what they see from O'Gara, because whereas O'Gara is very weak in defence, Sexton does his job there very well. I think if Sexton plays well that Ireland will win it.

  • As a bok fan I think it's a good move by Ireland to not include O gara in the starting 15, he always seems to struggle against the boks and I think it is becoming a mental issue with him when he faces us. Don't know much about this new kid, but I believe the boks will put pressure on him like theres no tomorrow.
    GO THE BOKS!

  • The Irish media haven't been building the match up to be a northern hemisphere vs southern hemisphere match. Don't know where the presenter got that from.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 27, 2009 8:02 pm

  • Brussouw is going to have a field day on the floor. Wallace at 7 is really like Lewis Moody...not a real 7 who turns over ball. Wallace is more of a ball carrying 6, and while a good player, I think Brussouw will steal alot of ball. Boks by 7.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 27, 2009 8:17 pm

  • Yeah Ireland will be relying on BOD, Healy and O'callaghan a bit at the breakdown as all 3 backrows are great tacklers and ball carrier but maybe not as adept at counter-rucking as Brussow is.

Should be a great game. Love to see Ireland do it but I think the Boks might just outmuscle them a bit up front.

ROG's performances against SA have always been pretty good, look at 20004 and 2006! Bar the lions 2nd test.........

  • Ah, the sweet, sweet smell of revenge. Springboks by 40. Matfield will once again dominate that big spud, O'Connell

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 27, 2009 9:13 pm

  • I think the hype might outweigh the game. I read in the paper yesterday that of all the teams in last year's 6N, Ireland passed the least and kicked the most and the same is true of the Boks in the 3N. This could well be a very aerial game...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 27, 2009 10:41 pm

  • Let us not turn this into a NH/SH debate as Phil has hinted at :)

I am disappointed at the media though, New Zealand vs France is definitely the SH vs NH match if there is one, Ireland maybe Six Nation champions and South Africa Tri-Nations, but let us just think about it.

2007 RWC = France won, controversially but they won.

1999 RWC = France won, in a what the hell moment.

2009 Dunedin = They won at fricken' Carisbrook (aka fortress All Blacks).

    IRB world rankings :

    1(1) NEW ZEALAND 90.88
    2(2) SOUTH AFRICA 89.97
    3(3) AUSTRALIA 83.98
    4(4) FRANCE 83.20
    5(5) IRELAND 83.20

This is more like battle of the runner ups of the NH vs SH. I mean, Ireland drew with Australia and Giteau was terrible with the boot that day so the outcome is pretty predictable, South Africa will win.

But New Zealand vs France? WHO THE HELL KNOWS? France are so scarily unpredictable it isn't funny and New Zealand is New Zealand.

    Shut the fuck up cobine

The Springboks, runners up to you?

    THREE - NILL.

No need for profanity, according to IRB, yes France are 1st in the NH, Ireland 2nd, NZL 1st in SH, South Africa 2nd.

By Anonymous Cobine, at November 27, 2009 11:01 pm

  • ^Agree, sorry Cobine but the All Blacks were pumped three times by the Springboks and no IRB rankings will change that. The Springboks that were at full strength (besides the quota) in the Tri-nations are the best team in the world.

Ireland can't even get out of their Pool Stage in the RWC, so... kind of feel sorry for their fans, they try so hard. :(

By Anonymous Bale, at November 27, 2009 11:28 pm

  • what a game thats going to be id back the irish backs to take the SA backs but the SA forwards to take the irish forwards going to be a thriller

By Anonymous geordie, at November 27, 2009 11:41 pm

  • irish front five is a bit weak. Bob Casey would really really add the height (lineout) and weight (scrum) that would just even things up nicely.

However, he's not even made the A side's bench!

At least the front 3 have a bit more game time now.

The backs won't get the chance if the scrum and the lineout don't function: only hope is the likes of o dricsoll at the breakdown, which is semi bizzare, and of course every SH's favourite: Nigel Owens......and then the boot of sexton.

Agree with comment on kicking: may be too much hype too little rugby...but hopefully not.

With Owens and kicking I'm thinking Ireland, but with the smallish Irish front 5 I'm thinkin SA.

    another 20-20?

If this happens Boks win simple as that..

Hope I'm wrong and I'll be cheering Ireland like there's no tomorow....

  • Bekker in for injured Botha

    big loss for Boks

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 1:23 am

  • I guess i just put up those stats to make the point that sexton isn't a big strong guy, but he is an excellent player. i think my SA fans will be surprised at how good he really is.
however to counter this point i think the way the boks defend is up quick and on the inside channel which will put alot of pressure on sexton and p.wallace

i think darcy at 12 would have been the better option to be able to withstand the hits from the big backrowers of SA. I can see wallace with a big bandage on his head again in the first minute!

Finally I think Ireland will do it.but not too confident as we are up against a really good team, that said we have beaten SA the last two times.

    2(2) SOUTH AFRICA 89.97

Laughable. IRB has no more credibility.

Springboks are missing Botha, Smith, Spies and Steyn. Bizmark's on bench. Nowhere near as good at the 3N team, but I'm sure we won't have much of a problem with the Irish.

  • "I hope ireland wins just to shut the arrogant bok supporters up!!"

    Learn to fight, big guy.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 4:53 am

  • Yeah, because he's not a great player or anything, Tuxedo du Randt. Continue to be a cock and see if others show your side respect.

"South Africa have looked like shit on this tour and their scrum has been laughable. Where's Smit been on that?"

Now, I don't actually think that, but an immature child who thinks like you could just as easily say something like that.

We'll see how this match goes. I've got high hopes for it being entertaining, but then it could be a stale kick-fest. I imagine there'll be plenty of off-the-ball scuffles especially with a hothead like Paul O'Connell on the pitch. Hayes isn't the most powerful man in a scrum, so I don't see Ireland making South Africa look as bad as Castrogiovanni and his Italian/Leicester counterparts have...I think last week showed that if you can get out there and rough up du Preez and Steyn early, it's hard for them to recover from it.

I love the Boks, but I'm hoping the underdog can take 'em.

By Anonymous Smalls, at November 28, 2009 5:06 am

  • SA humiliated the Italian scrum for the last 20 minutes. Smit, BJ and Beast will get the job done in a few hours.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 5:10 am

  • ^ Keep telling yourself that, bud.

By Anonymous Anononononymous, at November 28, 2009 5:49 am

  • How did the italians prove that by roughing up du preez he can't recover, Smalls?

FDP had a great game last week - scored a try and set up another.

Nothing wrong with Morne Steyn last week either.

And Yes, the front row of Beast, Smit and BJ were ripping apart the italians in the final 20 minutes.

By Anonymous Tuxedo du Randt, at November 28, 2009 6:18 am

  • Morne Steyn is only good at kicking, nothing else really.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 6:37 am

  • ^ Yeah, he's certainly no Johnny SEXton. I mean, comon! Johnny did so much against Fiji he should be nominated for player of the year, I mean comon!!?

    Idiot

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 7:22 am

  • I'll have to watch the game again to cite everything right, but as I recall, it took du Preez some time to get right after the hard (late) hit on him after just 2 minutes of play. Yeah, he scored a try in the second half, and it's not like he was crap - I didn't say that - but he was a bit off for a while after that (again, du Preez is probably one of - if not THE - best number 9 in international rugby, so it's not like he was "poor").

Steyn, on the other hand, missed a ton of kicks and, again, if I recall correctly, didn't have the best day with his hands either. You could tell he was having a bit of a Ronan O'Gara day where if it doesn't go right at first, his confidence goes to hell and he has to work his way uphill to getting good results. Carter had a tough time starting out, and Giteau had a nightmare. Maybe it just wasn't the weekend for SH out-halfs.

All I was getting at was that Ireland will probably have to come out strong right away and try to put SA on the back foot if they've got any hopes of winning.

I don't agree with Sexton as first choice, but who the hell am I to disagree with Declan Kidney after he's won Ireland the Grand Slam and the 6N?

By Anonymous Smalls, at November 28, 2009 7:55 am

  • Let's just all hope it's a cracking game with no cause for whinging afterwards! good luck and COME ON IRELAND!!!!!

By Anonymous Lorcan, at November 28, 2009 8:06 am

  • luke fitzgerald over keith earls anyone?? actually both are pretty shaky, would rather have d'arcy starting.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 8:58 am

  • It's going to be a close game. This being a home game for Ireland can be the deciding factor. And it looks like the weather may also have an impact.

I will go with the Springboks by 3 to 6 points.

By Anonymous Ruan Fourie, at November 28, 2009 9:23 am

  • Smalls both Italian kickers were also missing their shots at goal (right in front, too) it was due to a new ball design being tested or something. (Thats what Bobby Skinny said anyway)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 9:36 am

  • Everyone goes on about Morne Steyn, and he is great at the moment, but he's still pretty much third choice flyhalf in my mind. Butch, if fit and playing in SA, would have been chosen ahead of him. Ruan Pienaar, brain farts aside, SHOULD also be the long term bok flyhalf.

He was being moulded into that until he showed a lack of temperament. Talent should get him back there though, hopefully.

I have a feeling that Steyn and Sexton are similar type of players actually. Defensively sound, great kickers, but certainly not the most creative number tens to ever play the game. You can't discount what they've done with the Bulls & Leinster though, so it will be a great matchup today.

Fighting talk aside, I think the Irish will take it, thanks only to the big occasion and mental edge that they might have over a knackered Bok team who are missing the 3 enforcers - Bakkis, Spies, and Bismark. Not to mention the most underated flank in the world, Juan Smith. :(

    I hope I'm wrong.

By Anonymous Dave, at November 28, 2009 10:11 am

  • to anon a few above.

earls is starting ahead of fitzgerald because against australia fitz suffered knee damage which had to be operated on.

and considering the age of earls hes more likely to be full time centre/wing in the next few years.

to be honest i think the deciding factor will be how heinrich brussow plays. if he does well at the break-down i dont see the irish pack being able to stop him.

that a side hope ireland do win:D

By Anonymous Theo, at November 28, 2009 2:24 pm

  • This Smit vs O'Driscoll thing is ridiculous, seriously. Let me say a couple of things, I hate the South African fan supporters saying 'we are dominate' blah blah, but Smit is a brilliant player and so is O'Driscoll.

But let us not fool ourselves here, O'Driscoll is a runner up in the number 13 to Conrad Smith and Smit is a legendary hooker but a good prop and will never be a Carl Hayman, but his ability to play in the front row plus his all around field abilities (grubber kick to Victor Matfield? TRY?), Brian isn't even the best number 13 in the world, something like 3rd or 4th.

    Best number 13's in my eyes are;

    1. Conrad Smith, pure class.
    2. Jaque Fourie
    3. Stirls (Mortlock), can goalkick and is a monster in attack / defence
    4. Yannick Jauzion / BoD

Conrad Smith last year in the 2008 AB's vs Ireland just embarrassed BoD.

Remember that saying; pick your starting XV first and then your captain.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 5:35 pm

  • SA couldn't win when the ref gave them everything. Take your beating boks!

O'Connell settled the O'Connell vs Matfield debate in that second half. Was Victor even on the pitch.

    Come on Ireland!!

    By Blogger mfsa7, at November 28, 2009 5:36 pm

  • Poor Schalk, ugly with 1970s Starsky and Hutch hair and his try wiped out by a newbie flyhalf.

It was nice of Ireland to put out an inexperienced player to give SA a chance.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 5:37 pm

  • SA should have picked Matfield and Habana...

    ... oh wait a sec

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 5:38 pm

  • All quiet on the SA fan front... They're busy thinking up excuses so their earlier comments look less ridiculous

  • Well done Irish!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 5:41 pm

  • I hope the SA posters on here realise their usual OTT arrogance is going to inspire a record number of replies.

    Well done to Ireland.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 5:42 pm

  • That was a really bad game to watch as a neutral,Ireland played alright, could have done much much beter against a bok side who looked exausted after 20 minutes. If the boks played that bad against the French, whe would have won by way more. Take the win Ireland but I wont feel to proud about it.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 5:43 pm

  • Wow that looks like a Grand slam of lose! nobody expected that from a world champ, shame.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 5:44 pm

  • Bet the hole Irish team is watching BOD shower as I write, think sexton might be urged on to join him.

Good player that sexton, hes like another scrumhalf on the field, he just passes.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 5:48 pm

  • Oh come on, O'Driscoll was shit. Smit was shit, everyone played shit. A boring game filled with errors and what happened to super hero Morne Steyn? He is shit, you were so fucking quick to compare him to Daniel Carter and Johnny Wilkinson, give me a break.

This Brussow vs Mccaw debate got put to bed aswell, Brussow has played just as bad as Morne Steyn lately, burnt out after 1 season?

This game really showed how rubbish SA, everyone was going on about them having so much depth but look what happened, lost one or two players and you get pumelled by Ireland and France.

That ref was even helping you, missed a knee stomp which should have been a penalty and a yellow card atleast, high tackle from JP Pet on Tommy Bowe, missed the massive 20 metre offside by slowly retreating unfit fat Boks.

Congratulations Ireland, does anyone else think why the hell do they have Paddy Wallace in 12 with someone like Gordon D'arcy on the bench?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 6:17 pm

  • Paddy Wallace cant play 10 mins for Irealnd without getting injured. You have to feel for the guy!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 6:24 pm

  • Well done Ireland, didn't necessarily expect that. Irish scrum turned itself around well, defense was heroic. SA showed no ambition, what with all that kicking: this match had 1 kick per minute - what is going on in rugby?!?

Maybe if SA actually tried to play rugby, they might have won it. They dominated in the first 20 mins physically - what kick it away???

I thought Owens would be an advantage to Ireland. It was the opposite: how many times did SA not roll away, and all those high tackles! The only one he gave was when the linesman told him about it!

Ownes kept saying: 'it stops here' only to allow SA to keep doing whatever it was they were doing illegally...oh, and o connell's eavesdropping - he let that run on and on too. But that doesn't compare to illegal on the ground play and high tackles galore.

O driscoll and connell were great at turning around possession.

Great end to the season for Ireland, and prob player of the year award to BOD.

look now huh who lost 4 out of 5.

helped in lions tour by biased refs

helped in final of wc by video ref

  • Excuses start ^^ lol

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 7:28 pm

  • Does any1 else think South Africa just fell apart today?

Completely ground down by the immense Irish,SA can keep the Webb Ellis...until 2011. Then they can fuck off back home empty handed while it comes to the Emerald Isle.

And just in case you're wondering I'm Irish!!!!

Arrogance needs to be earned SA, and anything that you earn can be taken away. I think the fact that you lost to non National sides (Saracens and Leicester I mean)proves this, not evn mentioned your defeat today to Us!!!

Ireland arent arrogant and were obv better than ye Boks!!!

By Blogger Not Enough Dublin Girls In The World, at November 28, 2009 7:29 pm

  • Being poor is bad enough for the Saffers, but losing to Ireland 3 times in a row in Ireland, ouch.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 7:29 pm

  • Thankfully Ireland won despite blantant cheating at any given opportunity by SA

By Anonymous Donkey Punch, at November 28, 2009 7:36 pm

  • If being a cunt was a crime Burger would get the death penalty, what a retarded celebration for his try

By Anonymous Donkey Punch, at November 28, 2009 7:54 pm

  • Ok, well im not going to have a go at the SA fans for being cocky, but I think Bok fans brought the flak they are recieving upon themselves. SA were number 1 in the world but this can eaily be taken away so always be careful with what you say.......and as for irish fans i think you should learn a lesson from the bok fans.....

I think today was a good game, unfortunately the boks looked very tired at the end, although the commentators did touch on this *18 months* i dunno, i might have misheard....

But anyway there is no excuses, Boks had just as many chances as ireland. and as for the ref, he missed the tackle on bowe, and offsides and just the general hands (from both teams) so i think complaining about him is not on.....wonder if JP will be cited....(as stated earlier, i missed the early bits an bobs)

    heaslip looked very dominant.....

BOD....my my my....what happened to him...clash of heads earlier or something? he seemed a little out of it...although as much as a lot of people like to slate him for being 'old, fat, slow' (im aware de villiers escaped him) he is still the one that does 'it' when 'it' counts! so really thats what you want from a captain.....

sexton seemed to play well, did what counted......

    By Anonymous No.7, at November 28, 2009 7:55 pm

  • Donkey punch, if being a cunt was a crime i doubt any of the irish or SA fans on this website would be without the death penalty...the guy making the comment above you would be the first to go!

By Anonymous TennisMan, at November 28, 2009 8:19 pm

  • I didn't see the game. I take it that the Reggae singer did the SA national anthem again and that's why they lost?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 8:32 pm

  • SA played rugby in the first 7 minutes and the last 5 and that was it.

They kicked everything and were so devoid of ambition. I think Ireland had 65% to 70% possession.

It's strange because when they did play they scored and threatened to score at the end. SA played their usual cheap shots and head high tackles game.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 28, 2009 8:34 pm

  • Was it me or did SA kick the ball every bloody time they got it! Well done Ireland, i think you deserved that. Good game to watch. Brussow (spelling?) is a fucking good player. Burger is actually not that good imo. Sexton looks pretty solid. Going to be a superb six nations. Any of 4 teams could win it. Providing England get their players back.

When South Africa play poorly in rugby, everybody laughs.

By Anonymous Greiffel, at November 28, 2009 11:19 pm

  • I actually expected you Irish fans to come out and be 'better than that' after always moaning about the SA gloating, arrogance etc. I guess I was wrong.

Neither side should be proud of todays match. God should be the most ashamed - what shocking conditions to play rugby in. Sort it out someone. Epitomised the difference between north and south though. I know which I'd rather watch.

Congratulations on the win though, you got what you wanted. Enjoy it. Many Guinness will be consumed tonight.

By Anonymous Shaft, at November 28, 2009 11:32 pm

  • "Neither side should be proud of todays match."

Why? Ireland ran the ball plenty of times, didn't kick nearly as much as the Boks, turned the ball over a good few times, pretty much did the opposite of what the SA critics said they would do, and SA did the opposite as well.

"Epitomised the difference between north and south though."

I agree there is a difference in playing styles, but SA did what southern hemisphere fans hate about the NH style of play, and did it even more so. And Ireland ran the ball rather than boot it every chance they got...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 29, 2009 12:15 am

  • Yeah okay.. I take that back. Of course Ireland should be proud of the win, I just don't think either side played much attractive rugby, thats all I meant.

And yeah, SA totally kicked too much. Stupid, one dimensional tactics. Such a pity considering the talent on the park.

By Anonymous Shaft, at November 29, 2009 12:29 am

  • can u all go back and look at the most important part of this clip which is after onli 46 seconds tommy bowe does the goofiest limp hop over a tackle bag. cracked me up!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at November 29, 2009 12:37 am

  • shaft....if you're gonna start spouting that kind of stuff do it on the actual thread relating to the played game....really you're talking out your hat!

conditions were the same for both teams, so that shouldnt be mentioned apart from the fact that it helps sum up why NH rugby is normally slower than SH rugby...

as for the game, ireland played plenty of good rugby against a slow lethargic SA team.

There's no fuss, you just got your arse handed to you on a plate so you can stick that plate wherever you keep the cup, nobody's impressed anymore.

    By Anonymous bondy2, at November 29, 2009 10:16 am

  • Mr Anonymous - I didnt know you had rules about where I should comment, apologies.

And my point was simply that Ireland are most used to playing in similar conditions than SA are. You can't deny that.

I'm not saying you're better in that weather really, just that we're worse at dealing with it. Make sense?

By Anonymous Shaft, at November 29, 2009 12:25 pm

  • As a bok fan I think it's a good move by Ireland to not include O gara in the starting 15, he always seems to struggle against the boks and I think it is becoming a mental issue with him when he faces us. Don't know much about this new kid, but I believe the boks will put pressure on him like theres no tomorrow.
    GO THE BOKS!

ogara scored a try a conversion and 4 penalties last time he played vs south africa
