The Rugby Club Plays of the Week - I see it but I don't believe it!

It's the end of a long week so time to kick back and enjoy what the weekend has to offer. Don't get too comfy just yet though, as this edition of the Fox Sports Plays of the Week is sure to have you squirming in your seat.

Last week's edition, made by the Rugby Club in Australia, touched a few nerves with the folks up North. This week, after suffering defeat at the hands of England, things are predictably less jovial when it comes to the North-South banter.

After all, Matt Giteau managed to embarrass himself twice in five minutes as he not only milked a penalty, but failed to slot it from point blank range. Next time, just chuck it over, Matt.

As mentioned, Dan Carter was on sensational form as he dismantled the touring Wales side single handedly at times. They'll meet again this weekend where we'll see if it's another whitewash or if there's still some gas left in the tank. The latest fixtures are up now so take a look there to see what's happening in international Test rugby tomorrow.

Speaking of New Zealand, a lot of you will be heading down there for the World Cup next year and isn't it encouraging to know that naked rugby is common place on the land of the long white.. cloud?

While we all thought that the New Zealand Maori Haka, the Timatanga, was the most intimidating wardance of the last few days, the Nude Blacks are indeed something to behold.

  • Funny how they mention an English winger scoring a try and Giteau missing the penalty but no mention is made of Giteau's dive worthy of a Premiership side.

  • OMG I AM SO JEALOUS ^^^
WTF on the naked rugby front. Oh and i can totally sympathise with those aussie supporters tolerating that english rugby supporter who most likely believes that johny wilkinson and dallaglio are the greatest players of all time and generally knowing nothing about rugby. Maybe i should not judge people before i know them though. Just hanging on a stereotype.

  • australians are an odd bunch. you would have thought as decendents of the empire they would have some sense of decency but clearly not.

  • Descendants of criminals? Hmm strange theory you've got there oh nameless one!

By Anonymous Laz, at June 25, 2010 9:05 pm

  • F*ck naked rugby....

Its one thing having your arm between the legs of a grubby smelly prop in a scrum if he's wearing undies and shorts....but like f*ck would I stick my arm there if he was nude...

not to mention what props and hookers can let out during the stress and strain of a scrum...geez, it would be a bout of 3rd degree burns for anyone behind the front row.....

  • 'Descendants of criminals? Hmm strange theory you've got there oh nameless one!'

He never said criminals, he said descendants of the empire....referring to the British Empire, which Australia was a strong part of....

....as for the criminals...maybe it was a guilty mind that made you say that in the first place....

...come off it though, we aren't kids here...everyone knows Australia's history...it doesn't mean much today but there is no point denying certain types were sent there...(amongst plenty of law abiding folk who emigrated..)

    By Anonymous (u-p)rick, at June 25, 2010 9:08 pm

  • Yes, descendents of the British.. the crooks that were sent there. What's the difference? :)

Anyway, funny video. Not sure why some anonymous mugs need to start the slagging off so early on again.

Re. naked rugby - I can only imagine the comments about the guy playing #2..

By Anonymous Laz, at June 25, 2010 9:12 pm

  • Oh yes, you stole a pig off this guy's farm so I'm sending you from the soggy marshy grey dull hell of UK/ IRE to one of the most beautiful places in the world. Tough luck mate, wish someone in my family had stolen a god damned planter's pig 150 years ago.

And actually, most of the crimes committed were absolutely nothing, murderers, rapists and so on were hanged, not sent round the other side of the world. This whole British thing of calling Aussies convicts is retarded.

By Anonymous Huh!! the 3rd, at June 25, 2010 10:55 pm

  • Okay Huh? the 3rd, it's kinda a...ahem...joke, the whole convict thing.....

err...naked rugby. not for me. When ya tackle the opposition; Well, ya know, that's exactly what ya run the risk of making contact with. just a thought..

By Blogger Alexander, at June 25, 2010 11:26 pm

  • Huh!! the 3rd....I don't think anyone here was trying to do that....infact i think i specifically said it has F'all to do with people nowadays....(minus Quade Cooper ofcourse)...

I actually think this whole thing stemmed from mis-communication....

...really though, it makes no odds in this video....naked rugby is only going to add to the 'ugggh look rugby players love touching each others arses and sticking their heads up other peoples asses' football prick argument....

  • Seeing that naked rugby reminds me of a rugby competition I heard about in America for gay players only. It's called the Bingham Cup. No joke. RD should do a piece on it.

By Anonymous whyte, at June 26, 2010 2:19 am

  • Come to think of it (u-p)rick, I guess Cooper did used to resemble a Ned Kelly type, only with the beard shaved off and stapled on top his head.

The thing about the naked rugby, whyte, is that I'm sure most of those guys weren't actually gay. Just blissfully ignorant to the dangers of reaching for the ball in the middle of a nude, dangly-parts-filled ruck. I'd reckon wing or fullback would be the safest position in that game.

By Anonymous riggle, at June 26, 2010 4:50 am

  • nude rugby? .. imagine being the front lifter in the lineout .. in ya face mate!

By Anonymous not 4 me, at June 26, 2010 6:09 am

  • Whyte - it is an international competition held ever second year mostly for men who are gay or bi-sexual. An Australian team, ironically known as the Sydney Convicts, are often the winners.

It is named after Mark Bingham, a homosexual man who played rugby and died on flight 93 on September 11 trying to fight the hi-jackers.

  • Tears of laughter :D

By Anonymous Anonymous, at June 26, 2010 6:35 am

  • Hahaha cracking stuff as always from the Rugby Club. Classic "nude blacks" banter too, and i reckon the Welsh national side might learn a thing or two from their naturist brethren. Who knows, it may help them avoid another gaping by Carter and co. Definitely should have included Giteau's theatricals though. Sneaky bugger.

  • funny about an english winger scoring a try! What about when Jason Robinson scored in the world cup final to takre the trophy, and when he left Chris Latham for dead for the Lions?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at June 26, 2010 10:07 am

  • It's all fun and games till someone gets poked in the eye with a penis. Just sayin.

  • naked rugby: one very good reason why not to tackle low...

  • 'funny about an english winger scoring a try! What about when Jason Robinson scored in the world cup final to takre the trophy, and when he left Chris Latham for dead for the Lions?'

And as for this comment, although valid, i think most of the comments about english rugby are due to the 2003-present rugby....

Really, the birth of JW in international rugby, sort of killed english rugby, as well as world rugby....

JW, a fantastic player was able to kill a team from their own 10 metre line, (i know he was not the first but if we look at how he picked apart every Aus try with a few kicks in 2003 final you'll see what i mean).....So ofcourse everyone went 'WOW JW CAN WIN ON HIS OWN, WHO NEEDS THE OTHER 14' (exaggerated i know...) so whilst all the english fans and followers etc, sat back and thought, hey this isn't bad....all other nations went 'oh shit, gotta get me one of them JW's'

So we all sat here comfortably then JW goes and gets ruined, and then what....we don't have a decent 10, and all of a sudden we have to actually do something with the ball....All the big names, Johnson, Robinson, Greenwood, Catt etc had gone...and we were left looking dumb...and to some extent we still are....

......SOOOO meanwhile, whilst the rest of the world were in the middle of becoming a JW, they all saw what happened to England, and went 'ah maybe we don't want to do that..' so they all sorted their teams, and we became the butt of many jokes...

(Apologies if you feel im blaming JW, ofcourse that is not the case, and ofcourse he was not the first guy to do it, and ofcourse there were other factors, but my general analogy if you look carefully should be quite fitting!)

  • Naked rugby? No thanks. I wouldn't tackle much and you can't dive for a try. Geez.

By Anonymous Laulala, at June 27, 2010 12:45 am

  • 'An Australian team, ironically known as the Sydney Convicts, are often the winners.'

.......I don't see what is ironic about that....

By Anonymous Anonymous, at June 27, 2010 2:22 am

  • ^^^^^^^^^^^^

if you read tho previous comments you would see how its ironic

By Anonymous Anonymous, at June 27, 2010 11:14 am

  • yeah the naked rugy thing just perpetuates the gay sterio-types and pushes all of the homophobes away from the sport, Living in the U.S. I get alot of the "you love it in that pile of guys" and comments about all the grabbing/sticking heads up asses and such. truly obnoxious coming from people who would leave the field crying if they tried to play

but none the less i wouldn't even watch nude rugby, I'm not a homophobe but there are about a million and one situations on a rugby pitch where you would end up with a handful/face full of cock and balls. no thanks

By Anonymous Sam, at June 28, 2010 3:35 pm

  • Alot of the Irish convicts were sent to Australia for political reasons, so Burgess might have some old Fenian blood in him.
Most of the convicts were dirt poor and close to starving and got sent to Aus for stuff like stealing a loaf of bread or hunting on the wrong guy's land.
Most Aussies are proud of that, we got the good guys, the poor and downtrodden, while the poms kept all the posh arseholes.
