Bourgoin's Alex Tulou smashes Stade Francais' Dimitri Szarzewski

Alex Tulou is a name probably unknown to most, but from what I've read and what can be seen in this clip, we'll no doubt be seeing more of the big Bourgoin loose forward in the not too distant future.

This clip is a pretty short one, but it needs to be seen as the impact of the hit on French hooker Dimitri Szarzewski is absolutely massive. Tulou was playing in his first Top 14 game for his new club, having only be signed this year.

He's played for Wellington, Taranaki, and the Hurricanes in New Zealand and has been an impressive junior grade player. He's still only 23 and weighs well over 110kg's, while he can get around the park at quite some speed and impact, as you'll see here in Bourgoin's game against Stade Francais.

Bourgoin lost the game heavily though, going down 43-12 to a far more powerful side. Former Leinster coach Michael Cheika got his reign underway in style with the convincing win. Hooker Szarzewski, despite taking this massive knock, scored a try, as did the newly mohawked centre Mathieu Bastareaud.

  • citing commissioner, i think we get the joke, no need to post it at each and every vid...

  • He didn't tackle properly so he got put on his butt. However in his defense if he had tackle the right way he most likely would of got a yellow card for a dangerous tackle.

  • I think the phrase is "sit down"!

  • Szarzeski, credit to him, gets straight back up, where other men would have stayed down and he's clearly looking for some more action. The man wanders around a rugby field and makes big clean tackles, that's why I like him. There's nothing much else about his game though.

  • lol @ Citing Commissioner.

  • "Not many people get straight up after getting bulldozed like that"

LOL its called adrenaline mate, loads of players get back up instantly purely out of shock of being sat on their arse. Its the minutes that follow where the pain settles in hahaha

  • mistake from swarzweski:)
never try to high-tackle islanders, they have the shoulder technic to brush u away. as usual swarzweski get back immediatly, love this player

stop with the comission or the ref thing lol.
that said, i bet what u want that the 1st huge IRB ban of the season will be for a french or a top14 player in order to make forget tri-nations botha, burger or woodcock agressions:)

  • If he'd have gone 10 cm lower, it would have probably been the other way around

By Anonymous jente, at August 16, 2010 12:01 pm

  • too high got what he deserves
but you cant lead with the elbow, straight arm hand off only, no swinging arms of elbows. it happens all the time and dimitri has given his share to others too.

By Anonymous mat, at August 16, 2010 1:58 pm

  • @ mat
he didn't lead with his elbow, clearly used his shoulder and he used his upper arm/elbow to push him away, nothing wrong with that so long as you don't hit the player when doing it.

in SH atm that would have earned Tulou a yellow card for being a danger to people around him.
