Best tries of the Top 14 - Round 14

One of the more popular features here on RD is the best tries compilations from the Top 14 in France. It's not always possible to get hold of them, but when we do, they're usually very entertaining. Here's the best of round 14 from two weeks ago.

If you've not seen these pieces before, they're compiled by Canal+ in France and are their top ten list of tries from the round. At times it's a bit jumbled, but generally they get the top 3 right most of the time. On this occasion was no different.

Starting off at number ten though, highly rated flyhalf Francois Trinh-Duc showed that he has good pace after intercepting a pass as Montpellier beat Biarritz 22-16. The rest of the tries have good build ups but there's not too much else to speak of in terms of stand outs.

At number four Julien Candelon makes a great pickup after his kick ahead to score against Clermont, and look out for the La Rochelle try against Castres as the scoring pass from Remy Tales results in a try to Manuel Dall'igna, but also sees the flyhalf getting smashed in the process.

Bourgoin's Sylvere Tian scored a quite unique try against Stade Francais as he not only showed brilliant pace down the wing after intercepting, but managed to flummox the defence as he looked inside for support, then just kept going all the way to the tryline.

Toulouse scored the try of the round, against Agen, as they once again showed how good they can be in open play and that their support lines are outstanding. The finishing from Vincent Clerc wasn't half bad either. Enjoy.

  • were there only 10 tries scored the whole round? the first few were not too impressive to be top 10 tries.

  • This top 14 week wasn't "un grand cry" :) u always expect a lot from this competition.

some average tries here, but the last 2 tries are classic ones.
i love the typical counter-attack from toulouse. clerc and Medard are definetly back these last weeks.

hope to see them during the 6N. Hope Lievremont will be smarter and more open-minded than during the last autumn tests

  • Not a vintage week... but Clerc's would sit atop any week wouldn't it? What a try that is.

  • anonymous, there were only 15 tries scored during the 14th round of the top14, but yeah, this week is not so good

  • Open letter to marc Lievremont
Take all french players of Stade toulousain, add in some other french players from other teams ..and who know , the french team might have a decent run in the 211 RWC !!!

    A dreamer 8-)

  • Yep I do agree a bit disappointing except the first 2.

    Toulouse rules as usual ;-)

A bit of showboating from Tian at the end, pity but a nice individual try.

    Allez le Stade!!!!

  • Pretty impressive pace from Szarsewski keeping up with Tian. Looked like he might even have caught him but the other useless git got in his way. Nice try though. And #1 is one of those tries that is just beautiful to watch.
