Biarritz head into the last eight with win over Bath
Biarritz beat Bath 26-19 in Pool Four of the Heineken Cup on Saturday. The bonus point win took them to top spot and means that they will have a home quarter final, hosting Toulouse in April.
Dimitri Yachvili got the home side off to a good start with a charge down try early on, before Iain Balshaw continued his good form with a try either side of half time. Zee Ngwenya finished well after some good play, and despite Stuart Hooper and Tom Biggs scoring, Bath were never really in control of matters at any stage.
"If you look at our win-loss count in this pool, it looks poor. But we were better than that indicates. It's frustrating to have lost," said Bath coach Steve Meehan.
Their late consolation try showed what they’re made of, but its little consolation for what will have been a disappointing game for them as they’d hoped for a bonus point win.
Bath now bow out of European action, taking only a losing bonus point from the contest. Biarritz march on to the last eight and with the type of rugby they’re playing at times, look like they could prove quite a handful for Toulouse in front of their home crowd.

Wow, bot are in Spain? Interesting. I wonder is the game growing much in Spain?
Well played Biarritz - some great tries in this game. In a way they are unlucky to get Tolouse in the next round, but that is the fault of Tolouse! Good to see Harinordiquay (spelling) back. Great player.

Mike, I think not. I live in San Sebastian and I play rugby, but here in Vasque Country or in Spain the rugby is growing yes, but too slow.
You can see the results of El Salvador the winner of the spanish league in the Challenge.

Cheers

This video doesn't show it, but to create Biggs' first try, Nick Abendenon's offload was something special. Hopefully RD can catch this :)

This Heineken Cup is ridiculous ! Ulster has won more games than Biarritz. But BO has more offensive bonus so BO receives the 1/4 finals. What is more important? Win or score tries? I do not like this competition. With the same logic the winner of the Grand Slam is not certain to win the 6 Nations tournament!

to misterrugby,
no, it's the personal goal average between both teams which did the difference (35-15 for biarritz vs 9-6 for ulster)
so, logic

You never know what to expect from Biarritz this season.
Brilliant play, intensity in both offensive or defensive actions BUT somehow still at some stage a total lack/loss of focus.
This game is no exception to it. Bath was totally out of it in the first 30 minutes but they started to taunt/provoke the BO front row (Marconnet for instance) and they succeeded to get Biarritz out of the game at the end and beginning of the second half.
Still fair play to Bath which showed a positive rugby approach and somehow never threw away the game.
If Biarritz can reduce their injury list on the front row and keep focus from beginning till the end.....then.....
