Jimmy Cowan reverse falcons captain Jamie Mackintosh
The Highlanders won at home on Friday night, beating the Brumbies 26-20 in a great game of Super Rugby in Invercargill. It ended with a match winning try to captain Jamie Mackintosh, who had earlier taken a ball to the back of the head.
You could possibly tag it as a reverse falcon, or as commentator Sumo said, a sconning. Call it what you want, Jimmy Cowan cleared the ball with all his might only to have it ricochet off the rather larger dome of front rower Mackintosh, who barely batted an eyelid.
To add insult to injury, Mackintosh was blown up for being offside, albeit accidentally. Later on, he said he was stoked about the win, their fourth in six games.
"We're rapt to get the win. The Brumbies are a class side. It's been a pretty good start for us. We knew we were a better side than we showed against the Crusaders in our last game," Mackintosh said.
"Who would have thought the Highlanders would win four out of their first six games. I'm ecstatic. We need to be picking up points to keep up our momentum."

why is there a scrum after this ? we can hear the referee saying "offside" (the prop is indeed offside), so that should be penalty right ?

Accidental offside

its accidental offside, reset scrum
By Anonymous, at April 03, 2011 2:45 pm
Offside can't get much more accidental than that...

"It-s been a retty good start for us"??
You guys have been underdogs for the last years and now have defeated the Brumbies and the Bulls!
There are reasons to cheer about mate haha
On a sode note, I think Cowan has been playing pretty well, he should keep the no 9 shit for the All Blacks with Weepu as back up.

Why the hell was he standing there anyway?

So no one could charge down the kick, or to basically protect the 9... Although he could probably have crouched a little...

Which is illegal, so in that regard, he got what he deserved.
I realize I probably sound like a dick for pointing that out, but I don't mean to take away from the humor of the clip or anything by it.

Well I guess jimmy Cowan has successfully pissed off every rugby player in the world... Now he's working to include his team mates...

Nice one, last anonymous!!!
That must have hurt, though...

its not illegal if your just standing there FRY, same way the forwards fan out from the ruck to create a wall when the ball gets passed back to the fly half to kick out. As long as they hold that position and dont move its legal.
