Three big hits from Grand Slam winners France against England
There were more than a few requests for some of the big tackles that we saw last weekend when France beat England to take the Grand Slam in Paris.
First up, right at the beginning of the match, big centre Mathieu Bastareaud put a late shoulder in on England centre Riki Flutey. The hit probably wasn't legal, but you see players getting away with that type of stuff all the time. It looked good anyway.
Next up is one of the players of the match, fullback Ben Foden, getting well and truly dumped by French lock Julien Pierre. Despite being dumped heavily, Foden did well to place the ball back, allowing England to go forward.
Last but not least, we've got captain courageous Thierry Dusautoir's fantastic tackle on opposite number, England captain for the night, Lewis Moody. A few minutes earlier Dusautoir made another great tackle, but this one stood out as the impact was even felt up in the stands.
While this video depicts the hits that took place, France weren't dominant as it was England who played most of the rugby and at times looked like they could sneak the win.
However, thanks to the solid French defense, the English couldn't get over and the Six Nations and Grand Slam went to the hosts.
It's just a short vid that's been thrown together, but is a nice little tribute to the French victory.
There were a couple of technical issues earlier so we've used a different video player. Make sure you click the play button. If you click the text, you'll be taken away from this page. Please shout if there's any problems, and let us know if you enjoyed the clip.

Dusatoir rocked 'im!!

Great hits, maybe Bastareaud's one is not legal. I just look at the best player of the tournament : it's Tommy Bowe. A great player but I think this year it was time to reward a forward, especially Beattie, Mas or Harinordoquy. Unfortunately people prefer wingers...
By 3/4 centre, at March 26, 2010 1:10 am
Bowe's the player of the tournament? Wow. I was expecting a French ..... and I'm a neutral in 6N :o
Love the last one: Dusatoir v Moody. It was a real massive impact and BOOM!
By JLH, at March 26, 2010 1:14 am
not great
By jimmythereliable, at March 26, 2010 4:22 am
moody received a hospital pass
the anglo-saxons always vote a home nations player the player of the tournament, Bowe is overrated.
By Anonymous, at March 26, 2010 4:56 am
Bowe is excellent and was probably Ireland's best player this 6N, but ahead of Parra, Dusautoir and Harinordoquy? Madness. The grand slam team has deservedly provided the player of the tournament the last 2 years so I don't see how this time was any different.

glad to see Julien Pierre shining on the big stage. Never understood how he wasn't first-choice second row at Clermont. Privat is average and getting on a bit while Cudmore is just a thug and a penalty magnet.
By Anonymous, at March 26, 2010 5:38 am
Dusautoir is a legend
By Anonymous, at March 26, 2010 6:03 am
Dussautoir is my master.
Bowe player of the 6N, a fuckin joke!
Harinordoquy was the best constant player by far
By kevdetoulouse, at March 26, 2010 6:40 am
As a compelte nuetral, I understand French frustrations at the home unions.
They do seem to get the short end of the stick.
There's a couple of Frenchies who should have got it ahead of Bowe.
And I don't think the first hit was ilegal, he was commited, flying thru the air and he hit him literally a fraction of a second after he kicked. If he hadn't been coming in for the hit he wouldn't have kicked and there's no way he could have pulled out.
Fair hit.

Nice hits!
I just love dusautoir willing to destroy in the rules,
concerning bowe as player of hte tournament, hm..?uh, ok
but i think Harinordoquy, parra or beattie deserved it far more than him.
But as french fans just don't vote for this kind of thing, it's a normal result should we say ;)
By Flooz, at March 26, 2010 10:02 am
The French really don't give a fuck about the player of the tournament title, really. They have the Grandslam. They didn't vote, most of french fans didn't even know there was a vote. On the other hand, the Irish fans, frustrated and sad because of the loss of the trophy, voted by thousands like a bunch of starved men.
That kind of vote is just a ridiculous joke : People don't vote who they objectively trust was the "best" player of the trournament, they just vote for the player of their country, even if he wasn't the best. That's all, and that's why it's an idiot thing.
By rodofle, at March 26, 2010 12:33 pm
Tommy Bowe Player of the Tournament : Here is your consolation prize ireland. Happy?
And he scored three tries... I admit that's outstanding. Player of the century would be even more fair IMO.
By Anonymous, at March 26, 2010 12:44 pm
the fraench captain he's a beast of a tackler. I read he a black belt in judo!!
By Anonymous, at March 26, 2010 12:47 pm
Bowe player of the tournament!?
that's the result when u do a public vote
irish fans must have created a facebook event "save our 6 nations, vote for bowe" :)
Bowe is a great winger and finisher, but the best player for me was clearly harinordoquy! beattie and parra could have been chosen too
ps: Dusautoir tackle on moody was textbook
By Ben, at March 26, 2010 1:15 pm
Good hits. Perhaps not the hardest around, but very good technique and very good timing.
Perhaps technically the best hits in a while
By vinniechan, at March 26, 2010 1:58 pm
I thought they were rubbish, Moody got a hospital pass and Fluteys one he had just kicked it and was therefore leaningback. The one on Foden was good but bit of a mismatch. I have to say though that Dausetoire (i'm guessing at the spelling) is a phenomenal rugby player.
By Anonymous, at March 26, 2010 3:09 pm
I do not think that Bastareaud's hit is ilegal. Do you remember last year with tackle on Parra on European Challenge final? it is the same deal and all English guys were saying that was a legal one, so please be fair when some french players do the same. They were also polite not to hurt english players. Regarding tribute to the French team for 6 nations victory I think it is the minimum that Rugbydump can do as Guetteba just made some great videos but probably for some strange reasons they are not on Rugbydump. So, what's going on? Some lack of fair play now? Hard for Rugbydump to admit French rugby domination on this tounament or what?

'the anglo-saxons always vote a home nations player the player of the tournament, Bowe is overrated.'
Wow....or maybe people voted for who they thought was the best?!?
Personally id have picked a forward....but this is where amateur voting comes in....'who scored the tries, ah yeh, he must be the best player, he scored' etc.....
people dont tend to appreciate the work put in....i think dusatoir played fantastically in all matches....but thats the way things go....
everyone loves the try scorer....
3 big hits here, i suppose the only one to have gripes about could be bastareud's tackle, lack of wrapping involved....but it didnt get called, so i wouldnt moan...
By No.7, at March 26, 2010 5:06 pm
Bowe is excellent and was probably Ireland's best player this 6N, but ahead of Parra, Dusautoir and Harinordoquy? Madness.
... you said it, very ridiculous choice when the 3 players you listed were the better. Thanks for the video, love Thierry The Destroyer at it again.
By Anonymous, at March 26, 2010 5:28 pm
lol at all the French people jeering the Irish for voting tommy bowe player of the tournement claiming we only did it cause he's irish etc etc...When all of their nominees are french...yea good one...
Bowe was outstanding throughout the tournement and was top 4/5 player....IMO Harinordiquay(spelling) deserved it... but believe me it doesnt make our failed 6 nations campaign tasste any sweeter...
Btw you's sound like a bunch of spoilt babies throwing a tantrum because ya didnt get your way...Grow up would ya's.....And I can also guarantee you that there would of been mroe english and welssh votes involved than irish votes
By themull, at March 26, 2010 5:39 pm
to raggaduck,
don't say bullshits, guetteba is one of the best contributors on RD. If u're waiting for the 6 nations 2010, it's coming soon
and to conclude on "bowe best player of 6 nations" debate, we all know that harinordoquy clearly deserved it more. but that was a public vote, people prefer finishers, furthermore when they are irish ;)
personnaly, i didn't know it was a public vote

Ok i'm french and from Clermont-Ferrand, so i'm not totaly fair in my choice. For me on of the best player is Domingo.
By Anonymous, at March 28, 2010 4:05 am
Nobody commented it but the vote is on the RBS site, written in english 100%.
So don't expect many French or Italian voters
By kevdetoulouse, at March 28, 2010 11:44 pm
Dusautoir is a Legend, remember the match against the All Blacks in the World Cup!
By Anonymous, at March 31, 2010 6:44 am
Great technic form Dussautoir. 38 tackles made against the AB during last RWC...it says it all.
By Frenchy, at March 31, 2010 1:05 pm

By Anonymous, at April 01, 2010 6:36 am
