BBC cameraman takes a tumble on the sideline
If you watched France take on England at Twickehham on the weekend you probably will have noticed this amusing moment from the second half of the game, where a sideline cameraman had a bit of a slip-up in front of 80 000 people.
It would have been worse - it could have hit him in the head. That's actually what I thought happened at first, but as you can see in the replays, the poor guy was so padded because of the weather that just by reaching his arm out to attempt to catch the ball, he lost his footing.
Actually something similar happened to Schalk Burger a few years ago in a Test match, when he was retrieving a ball that had gone into touch and slipped on the small section between the grass and the advertising hoardings. This seems to be what happened here.
Luckily for Schalk, he didn't have the weight of a massive tv production camera bearing down on him. This guy handled it well though, although a bit shaken, he popped up, dusted himself off and after a few minutes of checking for bruises to both himself and the camera, returned to action.
If you spotted any other funny moments on the weekend that you think could be shared, get in touch and we'll see what can be done to get the clips on the site. For now, this was one of the most requested from the weekend so even though it's just a quick one, it's worth sharing.

When I first saw this I thought he was trying to avoid the ball and allow England a quick line out. not so sure now...

at the risk of turning a funny clip into something slightly more serious, HD Steadicam's way an absolute ton...lucky he didn't take his head off.
As a cameraman, just shows his safety system worked. Nice to see friendly support from his fellow media professionals!
Damn funny though!

Speaking of the quick lineout... was it authorized? It seemed to me that if the ball touches the ads, you can't play it quick. Am I mistaken?

You can take a quick line out as long as you use the same ball, and it hasn't been touched by anyone but players/referee/linesmen I believe. And it has to be in line or behind the point the ball left the pitch, and can't be thrown forward, and has to go 5m etc

Thanks for the explanation RedYeti!

Prince Harry is hanging out with some smoking-hot blonder, and a goofball cameraman is your most requested video? Shame on you.

@ Goofer: The 'smoking-hot blonde' you're referring too is Zara Phillips, a member of the british royal family (and therefore related to prince harry, not that that would stop the royals lets be honest) and is actually engaged to Mike Tindall
