A double dose of Plays of the Week from the Rugby Club

It's the end of the week, another interesting one in the world of rugby, and there's only 21 days left to till the world cup. Today we've got a double helping of Plays of the Week, which features some of the best bits from the last two weeks.

It's not long to go now and while the final few rounds of warm-up games, and the Tri Nations, take place, teams are frantically looking to not only find their form leading up to the big tournament, but also their best combinations. Avoiding injury is a bonus too, something some sides have already struggled with.

Up north it's difficult to gauge where some of the sides are at, as it could be said that England and Wales both look like they need to work on being more clinical, while Ireland's big test will come this weekend as they meet France again, hoping to overturn the loss of a few days back.

In the big 3, New Zealand seem to be, as per the usual trend, heading into the world cup as favourites. Their rivals the Wallabies, with all the ingredients on paper, have this week dropped one of their most experienced backs, and changed their captain. Whether that will come back to haunt them or not, we'll only find out in two months time.

The Springboks, an older group, have all the experience needed, but aren't producing the goods. A good win against the All Blacks tomorrow will go a long way towards getting their mindset right before they travel to New Zealand. A few injuries seem to be hampering them too though, with the big loss of integral forward Juan Smith being announced just yesterday.

Aside from the RWC hype, the Currie Cup and ITM Cup are keeping on keeping on, as well as club rugby in Australia. Today's Plays of the Week post from Fox Sports does what they do best, as we're treated to a summary of the funniest, dirtiest, and best bits from not one, but two weekends of brilliant rugby action. Some brilliant rugby but come on...that pass was never forward as the player 'intended' to throw it backwards and momentum carried it forward :)

As for the comments on the Scotland V Ireland game, 80 minutes and only one try....did they watch SA v Australia?

Still I love the quality of the rugby in these clips and it's not even S15. I also can not believe Australia have left Giteau out of the squad... go to man went Cooper starts messing up IMO or will they use O'Connor in that situation?

Haha this show is just hilarious!!!

A comment regarding the aussie team: I'm very glad Rob Horne and Berrick Barnes both made it, they are superb players who bring kilos of creativity, pace and strong tackling to the side. I'd love to see Genia-Cooper-Barnes-Horne-Ioane-O'Connor (Mitchell) and Beale playing together. How on earth can you stop a backline like that??

I like this show, and i dont mean to whinge, but;

they dont have the hopetown cup either. Scotland still hold that. oh, and how many tries were in the aus-south africa game? one.

Based on the recent internationals I think I'll stick to my wife rather than the World Cup.

Modern rugby is so fucking boring, no wonder it's struggling to attract new fans.

"They still believe quality not quantity counts." so true on average how many tries are scored in a northern H-sphere game compared to a southern H-sphere game. the numbers don't lie buddy, is it exceptional defence or lackluster offence? Tbh i can't see any northern teams winning the world cup. Need tries to win a game 5 or 7 points will roll 3 pointers any day. Quit using BS tactics Northerners and watch some All Blacks games, learn how to score real points.

again anon, the boring rugby is all up there wacth some real rugby i.e all blacks putting plus 30 points on any top ranked team in the world (SA = 40, Aus = 30) 5 tries scored in both matches from either side, how can you call that boring?

This might have been the best two editions of the rugby club I've seen yet, with an actual emphasis on showing a bit of rugby rather than the usual tomfoolery.

The double tackle by the Aussies on the saffa wing was huge!

As well, does anyone remember that it's technically harder to execute a last second switch as opposed to a one handed off load?

I love the offload but seriously, it's not always that difficult and drawing the man and making the pass before contact is much more difficult.

It says that Australia currently holds the trophy between them and England, yet England has won the last 3 encounters.... Does the trophy only count in certain competitions?
