The Rugby Club Plays of the Week - Get this into you!

Another Monday rolls around, as we edge closer towards the World Cup, and pretty much the deadline for RD's new site launch. We're nearly there, so your patience is appreciated. For now, here's some Plays of the Week!

As mentioned in the past, the show comes out on Fox Sports on a Thursday night so by the time it's ready to go we've usually had another weekend's action take place. Fear not, these bits are great to watch regardless of when you get a chance to enjoy them. With that in mind, it's a good time to mention that soon we'll have a great, easily browsable archive of each and every one.

Sean Maloney and the rest of the guys at the Rugby Club have done a great job yet again with this latest edition, as New Zealand's meeting with Fiji, and Australia's thumping of South Africa are both featured. They also thought there was something special about the Haka vs the Cibi, a clip that we posted on the RD Facebook Page. If you like Rugbydump, 'like' Rugbydump!

There's a few funny moments in there as usual, and a few interesting looking ITM Cup mascots too. The cheerleaders though, well, they're always good value and somehow seem to sneak into each and every edition of Plays. Enjoy.

Opinions tend to vary, so if you enjoy this feature, please let us know as a comment below. Also, if there's anything you'd like featured on the site this week, get in touch via one of the social media channels, email, or through the requests forum.

  • Love plays, my only criticism is it could be longer!

By Anonymous Ali thomas, at August 01, 2011 2:41 pm

  • It'd be longer if there was more rugby being played at the moment. Will they continue plays of the week during the world cup? If so they could have 10 minute long episodes :D

  • A highlight of my Rugby Dump week, keep them coming.

  • The footage of the ozzies playing football before the game was outstanding! What will these creative athletes come up with next? And the presence of mind of the camera man to capture this special moment! And finally the foresight of the plays of the week to broadcast it for the world to see. Brilliant overall!

Who wants to see big tackles, skills and tries from start to finish.

Not me! I want to see clips of play followed by footage of mascots having a laff and gratuitous shots of cheerleaders (coz god knows it's hard to find pictures of women anywhere else on the net!) with campy 60's music played in the background.

    Outstanding!

    Outstanding!

  • Plays of the week is awesome! It is definitely one of the best segments out there. Also, as an American i loved the little shout out to football during the clip.

  • It's all good, RD!

  • I love Plays of The Week! Pity there isn't a northern hemisphere version. Keep showing them please RD.

  • I'm sorry, but I'm with Canadian Content on this one....

Plays of the week used to be more "upper class" perhaps, or "high brow" now its turned into an ogle fest at cheer leaders which look....unwashed...!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 01, 2011 7:37 pm

  • I'm definitely in favour of Plays... RD - it's not as funny as it used to be in my humble opinion, but it's always great to check it out for us NH folk who can't always take a look at the happenings in Tri-Nations and Regional/Club rugby in SANZAR.

    Keep it up folks.

  • Sorry Canadian Content, I hope you'll be ok.
it must be terrible to have to watch a free two minute video that has a bit of a laugh about what has happened in rugby this week. Hang in there slugger.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 02, 2011 3:42 am

  • Canadian content said...Who wants to see big tackles, skills and tries from start to finish.

I do, that's why I come to RD because there's plenty of that stuff which is fine by me.
But there's also Rugby Club, and History and controversy etc etc .. why would you want to get rid of any of it? Be thankful for the site and here's a tip .. if you don't like Rugby Club then don't watch it. Simple.

  • Love plays of the week. Hilarious banter.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 02, 2011 11:13 am

  • Dan B, I suppose sarcasm hasn't been formally introduced into your country yet...

You seem to have missed the point with what Canadian Content said...

The plays of the week videos used to actually show a lot more rugby... which is, presumably why we are on this site... I mean if you want to see cheerleaders I'm pretty sure you could find some videos of them stripping off altogether on the net.... so surely thats not why we're here...

Play's of the week is starting to head towards the masses, and becoming low brow..

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 02, 2011 1:47 pm

  • Opionions vary - what, from awesome to fucking awesome?

This programme is the big difference between NH and SH rugby's attitue. We get Dowi going on and on about technical bullshit, they get the plays team having a laugh. Bring it on.

  • After Try Savers & Rib Breakers these are my favourite videos posted up, keep it going!

    By Anonymous Dave4, at August 02, 2011 10:47 pm

  • Yes, keep them coming, please!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 02, 2011 11:54 pm

  • disposable fun, used to be better but certainly worth keeping.
Lots of folk like it, and diversity is the spice of life and all that.... (it can seem a bit scant at times, and maybe would benefit from the commentators' being left on for 15-20 secs, if allowed?)

By Anonymous mise, at August 03, 2011 12:57 am

  • Peopel don't realise that this isn;t made for Rugbydump (though since it started coming on here I think the guy who makes it has tried to include more international stuff for our kiwi and south african mates).
It was originally just a short piece that was part of the Australian version of the Rugby Club. It was purley for Australian viewing and was just a short clip they'd put one ach episode.
Anyone who gets annoyed by it should just stop watching.

No, you miss the point. Plays of the Week has never been all about "skills and tries from start to finish" .. it's often been about the the weird, the funny, the silly stuff and a few skills and tries to top it up. It's always been a bit down market and that's why it's a relief from all the serious stuff. Like I say, if you don't enjoy it then don't watch.

By Anonymous Dan B, at August 03, 2011 12:33 pm

  • Tough mob to please..too many smoking hot cheerleaders???? Are you kidding? If you don't like it, don't click play.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 03, 2011 1:29 pm

  • Hey Im all for "friday funnies" and those sorts of things being on these videos, I'd just rather see rugby orientated fuck ups etc, rather than a mascot and horse faced cheerlosers!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 03, 2011 6:08 pm

  • keep em coming RD! loving it!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at August 03, 2011 6:15 pm
