Midweek Madness - Human Guinea Pigs
With the help of a forum request, we’ve come across this rather amusing clip taken from a TV show that claims to mix science with lunacy.
Described as a show featuring five lovable lads who probe the big questions in life and the universe, and who touch things they shouldn’t. Ready to be kicked in the crotch, electrocuted and have the fat sucked out of them, they sacrifice in the name of science.
They’re guided by a professor, as seen in the clip, who provides the facts regarding these experiments.
Rugby tackling was the order of the day in this clip, as you can see two of the guinea pigs being smashed around by a bunch of players, as the prof discusses the impact on a player’s body when getting hit, comparing it to that of a car crash.
Funny to some, interesting for others, we figured we’d stick it up and see what you think.

I can't believe one player actually spear tackles the smaller guy. What an absolute idiot.

Agreed, hilarious piece of tv but that tackle went just a tad too far on a guy who clearly can't take it

Funny vid, always happy to watch rugby players probing that rugby isn't for anybody, like the little guy, that was too much.
thanks for the vid and greetings from chile

Stupid and dangerous. Jackass-looking. Is that supposed to be funny? Pity.
By Anonymous, at February 04, 2009 3:37 pm
The spear tackle guy looked like a cocky prick.

This video is funny and interesting.
They recorded it in my uni
Loughborough University~!

i loved that "spear" tackle, they are guinea pigs so why not?
also i knew this movie b4 and it still rox0r like 1337
quite nice except they don't get stamped in a ruck and they dive on each other at the end
By Anonymous, at February 04, 2009 4:07 pm
well thats what you get for calling them a bunch of girls i guess.
By Anonymous, at February 04, 2009 4:10 pm
Not so sure that's a 'spear'. His legs get up in the air, but he lands pretty well flat. Plus, the tackler did his best to bring him to ground instead of letting him go in the air.
Even so, it was a bit over-the-top, given that he was tackling such a little guy.
Those two guys getting tackled must enjoy getting hurt for entertainment...A broken collar bone is no fun at all.

Take that, girl
By Anonymous, at February 04, 2009 6:12 pm
the first tackle looked really nasty
By Anonymous, at February 04, 2009 7:27 pm
jesus most of them go in high?!? muppets
By Anonymous, at February 04, 2009 7:40 pm
looks like a poor mans brainiac. many needless high tackles as its a tv show (though when is a high tackle needed i know) and the spear at the end was just silly from some idiot wanting to look hard. was probably some girls watching.
quite an enjoyable watch

Too funny. I enjoyed the explanations of the science that goes with it. Not bad for a bunch of funny talkers!

Certainly not high tackles. No where near the shoulder line...
In fact, when they try going low, the guy almost spears him.
Try to reserve your claims of 'high tackle' and 'spear' for instances that truly merit the terms.

American football hits are harder
By Anonymous, at February 04, 2009 11:58 pm
the guy above me clearly has never played rugby and judges from his chair with a bucket of fried chicken... Who cares how hard the hits are when your wearing pads and a damn helmet.
By Anonymous, at February 05, 2009 12:10 am
true true love to see him without the pads and helmet on a rugby field ....dickhead..

It's interesting to see this. Since they were trying to recreate a car crash the person had to stand absolutely still allowing the tackler to line them up and take a big running leap at them. That doesn't (usually) happen in a game, hence why there were so many injuries.

Again, not certain I'm doing this right, so name at the end of the post.
That's the most ridiculous thing I've seen on here for a while. The guy is ...more or less speared when holding a tackle shield... while we want people involved in ourf sport we don't want this sort of thing shown.
Fair enough in the heat of a match a player may make a mistake, but on a training field, what the hell is the man thinking.
BoB Mudd.

Sorry just read that it's from Loughborough... is that meant to make it alright?

I think that is just dangerous. A real rugby player is warmed up and stretched and in tough shape and probably only takes 2 or 3 hits that hard during a game, and not consecutively. The broken bones of each are a testament to that. If I were one of those players I couldn't keep hitting a little guy after we had just broken a big guy's rib. Just my 2 cents

Thats was a great hit!!! not a spear and if someone came to my Rugby club and said what a bunch of girls i would make sure he was off his feet and having a face full of mud!!!!
By Anonymous, at February 05, 2009 9:25 am
boom! Huge hits in there. Spear tackle was fair do's as these guys are doing this for a living and asked to do it.
WAMMY!

By Anonymous, at February 05, 2009 9:38 pm
i have refrained to this point but this is crap
some top 14 maybe ?
By Anonymous, at February 06, 2009 10:31 am
that spear tackle was over the top but i'm sure he didn't intend to hurt him etc.
By Anonymous, at February 06, 2009 12:28 pm
typical luffbra boys, always going one step too far.
By Anonymous, at February 06, 2009 5:45 pm
didn't really notice if that was a Spear or not...didn't really look for it...what I saw though was a high tackle on the little guy at 2:26...the guy's shoulder is as high as his bloody chin!!
Suffered from a broken collar bone during a match in Oct. 2007...took a hit from a n°8 (and I'm a 9...)...not nice or funny...at all.
If you're rugby players be rugby players and not pricks when a camera is around!
GO ITALY!!!!
Swing low sweet ass of mine...

the blond pussy who speared tackled the small guy is a fucking idiot, he could of hurt him baddly.
By Bienvenidos!!, at April 16, 2009 11:22 pm
Immense tackle by the blonde lad, if an international would have done that it would be all over youtube.
I'd argue that the tackle from behind was more dangerous but still in the spirit of the programme. At least with the spear tackle the lad could brace himself and was brough down to the floor in a controlled way.
...did he get hurt? No! Did you all enjoy watching it? Yes! What's everyone's problem?!
