Adam Ashley-Cooper answers the Wallabies call
The Wallabies host the Springboks in Perth tomorrow in another crunch Tri Nations match. With a injury problems, the Wallabies have had to shuffle their backline again, with Mr Fix-It Adam Ashley-Cooper moving to inside centre.
Ashley-Cooper is accustomed to being shifted around. This is his third positional change in this year’s Tri Nations, so he’s no stranger to being moved around.
He’s played at fullback, outside centre, and now finds himself at inside centre following a concussion to Berrick Barnes. He’s played there before though, twice against Wales in 2007, so the versatile Wallaby shouldn’t have any troubles.
Against the All Blacks last weekend he put in some great tackles, and he possesses running skills as well as a kicking game, so should do well against the Springboks.
Coach Robbie Deans was full of praise for the 25 year old.
"Without doubt he was one of our star performers," Deans said of Ashley-Cooper.
"He has been great, he could specialise in any number of positions."
That includes coming out of the grandstands to make his debut for Australia in 2005, as we get to hear about in this interesting vid about the versatile Wallaby back.

"Stirling Mortlock is obviously the worlds best outside centre" Cooper should be drug tested immediately! Is it not obvious that Brian O'Driscoll is the worlds best outside centre probably followed by Conrad Smith then Jacque Fourie and then somewhere later Mortlock?

lol, apparently not David. It's all a matter of opinion. :)
Some people would rather have Mortlock than BOD. And I personally would stick Mortlock in my side ahead of Conrad Smith and Fourie too, despite the latter being highly underrated.
Great vid. Funny way to make a debut. Hopefully he wasn't having a few bevies in the stands :P

Overall i'd have Mortlock but at the moment o'driscoll is better.

Why dont they let that O'connor guy go to 12? He seems better suited than Cooper.
I'd have mortlock/smith over BOD anyday.

conrad smith, are u joking ?

Even if they had Mortlock and if he was the world's best outside center (I think BOD is better), it still might not prevent them from going 'defeated' in this year's Tri-Nations.

I hate the way in these documentaries they always make it out that the person in question is totally committed to whatever he's doing, but afterwards is a laid-back, easy-going person, and is really funny as well. They do the same thing on the biography channel all the time.
He's a good player though.

Ha ha BOD is a cry baby. And slow, and got bullied by matfield on the lions tour, and nearly screamed like a girl when duplesis stood over him on the field.
Why do you people always cry for BOD, anyone who has a nickname like BOD must be wack. If you love BOD why dont you go suck his KOK
Always have rated ashley cooper.. great speed and powerfull handoff

He said Mortlock was the best out of respect.
He's a good bloke, and a good player. Not the most talented player ever but he's got alot of heart.

He's hardly going to say BOD is the best outside centre when he plays with Mortlock is he?
By Anonymous, at August 28, 2009 10:25 pm
Who else is he going to say is the best other than his mate and Capt?
Always hard to judge who is number 1 as they all bring different qualities.
However Matfield did not push BOD around, I'd say it was the other way around, I thought he was absolutely inspiring in the Lions series (though a little too inspiring as his own tackling led to a concussion).
I rate Smith as well, though not consistenly at BOD and Mortlock's class.
Fourie is another step down there.

How did this end up being _that_ conversation?
One, ONE throwaway remark in a 4ish minute video, and we're having that debate.
What is it about BOD that winds ppl up so much!?!

*He's soooo dreamy.*

kabous what are you on about? This was obviously featured on an Aussie rugby show and then Rugby Dump decided to show it, simple as that. If you want to make your own little video about Ruan Pienaar go ahead, and maybe it'll get posted on here. Although I'd say you'd have trouble finding 5 minutes of decent footage of such an average player.
Also, I hardly think RugbyDumpis one-dimensional. I'm Irish and I think there's a good mix of videos of both NH and SH teams. It's a free service so quit moaning. Maybe the reason there are fewer Springbok videos is because 90% of the comments on here at the minute are "Go Bokke", or something equally informative and articulate. You Saffers are already more than filling your quota for exposure on the site.

@DH
