Plays of the Month for July 2009
In June we saw the international season of rugby kick off with the British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa, as well as other Test matches taking place in rugby's hotspots. In July, those matches were wrapped up and the Tri Nations began.
The guys from the Aussie show The Rugby Club have come up with another classic edition of their Plays of the Month, so we've got the July clip for you today.
There's a bit in there for Lions fans as they touch on the final Test of the series, which of course, resulted in a nice win for the tourists.
There's then some cheerleaders to ogle, as well as something just as enjoyable - the big hits.
From the Tri Nations, the Currie Cup, and the Air New Zealand cup, there's been a few great hits so far, as well as some shocking bloopers.
George Smith is then picked as their Star of the Month, ahead of Morne Steyn. Hardly surprising, considering the clip was made before the weekend's match in which Smith had a match he'd rather forget. The fact that it's an Aussie show probably helped him too.
It's another great compilation, so sit back and enjoy July's Plays of the Month.

Piri Weepu - what good is he, again? I seem to have forgotten....
By realrugby.com, at August 10, 2009 4:33 pm
Weepu was good but he seems like he's past his prime. Who knows, could be all the pressure the other teams are putting on him.

The cheerleader in the pic looks like a man, or a horse.

@ Random - Then his prime didn't last very long. It seems Weepu doesn't have the mental toughness. Kelleher did, if you ask me. At least Kelleher kept himself in shape, not sure about Weepu. I think it's a mental thing, because, like you said, as soon as a little pressure gets put on him, he can't perform. I mean, what was that at the end of the first South African game?

hold on...how did goerge smith get the star player when they just showed him knocking in front of the line and thereby fumbling a possible match winning try? 100 tests pretty darn impressive though!

brussow is the player of the month
but great vid!!
By Cheis, at August 11, 2009 3:18 am
Well he obviously got it because he's played 100 test matches. I think he's only the third or fourth guy ever to do that.
Plus this isn't meant to be taken seriously, lighten up.
