Six Nations 2010 Highlights Montage

It's been over a week since the 2010 RBS Six Nations came to an end in Paris with France taking the Grand Slam. Many of you felt there should be some kind of compilation montage to relive the action, so here it is.

As it got off to a less than spectacular start, this years Championship later hit it's stride as we saw a handful of great matches and one or two spectacular upsets. At times it was edge of your seat stuff, no more so than when Wales scored in the dying seconds to upset Scotland.

The theme of the tournament though was if Ireland, reigning champions from last year, could do enough to retain their title as bookies favourites France looked to be the stronger side.

In the end, the predictions were correct as France beat all before them and went on to lift the trophy in Paris, having won the tournament before their final game even kicked off.

So here's your chance to look back on what was an entertaining, and at times dramatic, few weeks of Six Nations rugby. Please let us know your thoughts on the video.

Rugbydump covered every match from the tournament within days of them being played. If you'd like to watch specific match highlights, click on the sidebar banner or simply follow this link for the Six Nations 2010 page.

    MOTHERF**A

...on a side note, did anyone else prefer englands centenery shirts much more than their normal ones?

i really like them, they just had the whole oldschool look......(im aware that was the point) but i mean something about them, they just looked so much more classy than the usual ones!

  • 'but i mean something about them, they just looked so much more classy than the usual ones!'

I mean the shirts......not england....they were same old same old in new shirts....

  • nice vid.... too bad that there is absolutely no forwards stuff in it...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at March 29, 2010 10:50 am

  • Last try 8:05 - forward pass from Byrne to Halfpenny.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at March 29, 2010 11:08 am

  • Watching Beattie smash through Murphy never gets old.

  • The welsh team is an affront to rugby, with their kiwi tactics (forward passes, blocks, professional fouls...) shane williams is a mouse we really have to squash. The only players I still have respect for in that squad are stephen jones and shanklin.

The only good thing about England was the shirts. God

Ireland's backs where good to watch. Very professional.

France was amazing - great team, love the workrate of the backrow and a taste of the old french flair.

Italy are using players from all over the world.

    Scotland deserved more wins.

My 6 nations view in a nutshell. (no offence intended)

    Cheers,

    T. (English)

  • Bit harsh to Wales T. but that's your opinion. At least they try and play nice rugby. Really good video though, really good!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at March 29, 2010 12:21 pm

  • I Don't think Wales are really bad as you make out T. but i have to agree with some of what you've said - i wish that the video ref had a greater part to play in referring. if there was a computer programmed to pick up on every foul made (in particular forward passes in games against scotland!) Then there would be no such thing as professional fouling, and would a consistency to referring that a human just couldn't achieve.

Some may say that it would distrupt the flow of the game - but wouldn't it be worth it? Players would have to learn to be more careful.

Most importantly though - great video! And great RBS 6 nations! (although Wales vs. Scotland might just of been one of the most depressing moments of my life - especially watching it with a welshman!)

Love all rugby, wherever in the world it's played.

  • great compilation, contains all the key moments.

have to say though, geordan murphy's tackle attempt on beattie was pathetic.bring back kearney asap.this was a big setback for irish rugby,it will be interesting to see how they come through it.

not sure about my username after this year!!

  • Well then, 'T', you are a moron,

    'cheers'

Lovely montage, well done France, although i agree to an extent Scotland were very unlucky, Jonny Beatie was excellent..

By Anonymous David, at March 29, 2010 2:52 pm

  • Good video.
i think it's a guetteba montage, who is french, not welsh ;)

This 6 nations victory will help France to build for the rwc.it's quite incredibble they won without heymans, medard, mermoz, david, barcella, millo-chluski, dupuy or picamoles...

Scotland are on the good way with beattie, barclay, evans and others. England will do something if they change their game culture.

By Blogger Flooz, at March 29, 2010 4:06 pm

  • Great montage. Shame not to see more Andy Goode in here though. I know he didn't directly feature in any of the fixutres, but Andy Goode's legacy to the sport was never more apparent than in this tournament. Lots of first-up tackles missed, wayward kicking and mis-placed ambition. Would be nice to see some casual shots of Goode mixed in with the highlights.

By Anonymous MrsGoode, at March 29, 2010 5:36 pm

  • Thank you mr guetteba.

    Great stuff

By Anonymous Third Centre, at March 29, 2010 5:41 pm

  • Wales gave us some incredibly tense endings (against England, Scotalnd and France) and they try to play a total rugby. T, probably you have not watch all their games! And i'm french (if you don't notice...), so neutral about them.

By Anonymous 3/4 centre, at March 29, 2010 5:54 pm

  • I think T. has a valid point, so those insulting him/her really are rude.

That being said, its harsh to slate a team for advantages that they may gain....i mean, if you win a game by a try from a forward pass you're hardly likely to say 'ah no ref, we realise its forward give them the game..'

And how many times has a referee made a forward pass call in a game you play where you'd swear the referee has to be blind....until a member of the crowd afterwards assures you it actually was forward....accidents happen, im not so sure its all intentional fouls....

I think the play of the tournament has to be the last clip, as much as it pains me, i really think it is......in the end it didnt mean an awful lot (in terms of wales no where near winning the tournament) but it was amazing (but more painful) to see a team pull it off like that :-/

    sigh....Scotland grand slam champions 2011??? :( i hope so...lol

By Anonymous JM, at March 29, 2010 6:04 pm

  • Lol @ MrsGoode. Leave the Skullet out of this

By Anonymous FrankyH, at March 29, 2010 6:07 pm

  • I know its a french vid, cant see how anyone would think its biased towards any particular team. although maybe with that ending i guess, but come on, it was INTENSE.

Wales did try to play total rugby, very exciting to watch but they tried to play it a little too much, and it cost them tbh.

Better than watching england! hahaha.. tho they were much improved vs France i have to say.

By Anonymous David, at March 29, 2010 6:11 pm

  • I think that I'm often too quick to write England off as 'hopeless'. The games they lost, they only lost by a few points, I believe...a try or a penalty kick or something.

I don't know what it'll take to make them look convincing, but playing Foden seemed to be a good start.

  • Ok maybe I jumped the gun a bit their, but come on they are cheets. Especialy this 6 nations just like Kiwis.

    By Anonymous T., at March 29, 2010 7:12 pm

  • What on earth are you on about T?? Calling the Welsh and Kiwis cheats.. like, there's no referees on the field?! If a team throws a forward pass, it should be called back by the ref/touchie, simple as.

And btw.. if a side is able to play like the All Blacks, it's probably a pretty decent team to be basing your play on eh? Calling a team cheats (correct spelling, btw) is a bit uncalled for imo.

  • Great video RD amazing!! Also epic music...

By Blogger Toners, at March 29, 2010 8:14 pm

  • Why dont we see more of the french tournament??

In the video it seems irish or welsh win.

Not a single sec of the dying moment of the last game vs england, just a few of the fantastic game against ireland...

Still a great video but not representing the real VI NATIONS...

By Blogger Unknown, at March 29, 2010 8:18 pm

  • I don't know...maybe Guetteba was looking to avoid being accused of having a French bias - seeing as how he's French - so he left out some of the French stuff?

You can't have it all in there...I mean, the video was already over 8 minutes.

I'm just glad there's someone out there who likes putting these sort of highlights videos together.

By Anonymous remy, at March 29, 2010 8:40 pm

  • i find all this overly epic music annoying and melodramatic.

Also a complete lack of the broader aspects of the game

still, fair play to him for putting it together, it comes across as being as professional as sth put together by a TV station for it own shows. (If that's a complement....)

No offence taken T. .. at first I just put it down to sheer ignorance of rugby, but because you seem to be so fixated on this stupid idea I'll have to agree with David that you are truly a moron.

  • Welsh by any chance?

By Blogger Unknown, at March 30, 2010 10:32 am

  • hahaha T is right!!! Well abit harsh on the welsh but other then that right!

Oh and @Ireland for WC2009 if there were one we've been telling the English for YEARS that Delon Armitage is shite but noone listened insted they played him at center to try lure McGeechan into choosing him for the Lions squad, but no hes shocking! The first bit of cop on ive seen from Martin Johnson as manager was droping Wilko and Armitage.

By Blogger Unknown, at March 30, 2010 1:04 pm

  • Does anyone else think that Ireland have to move on from their "old warhorses" like D'arcy and Hayes. Like they've pretty much had it I mean D'arcy didn't have a good 6N like I think the only thing he did was pop that pass to Sexton on the looop for BOD's try V Scotland. Hayes didn't have a good 6N either he was butchered in the scrum and had to be hauled off the field seconds before he was sin bined V England. Time to but Earls in the center and but someone like Fionn Carr on the wing that guy is amazing was involved in everything V Leinster last week and hes only 25/26 i mean come on wake up DECCIE!!!!

By Blogger Unknown, at March 30, 2010 1:13 pm

  • conor, scrummaging has never been hayes strong point. im not saying he isnt good, but he is far better at lineouts and generally around the park than he is at scrummaging, its a well known fact...(well apparently it was...)..

I'd agree there are players who are starting to look a bit tired...i mean even BOD is starting to get closed down far quicker because people know he is such a risk, and his shiney finish is becoming a little tarnished...(as it happens to any player ever...)

but i suppose BOD still wins matches....moments of flair and genius appear from no where from that man, and hey presto a try.....

i think d'arcy can produce magic still, although this 6N has proved not so good for him....

i suppose its a big case of who is going to step in.......keith earls you mentioned has seemed to have grown up a little....so i suppose he is one, as for hayes replacement.....im not sure....anyone know?..

i guess its the same old thing, hayes is for want of a better word, a talisman in the dark arts as such...i mean, he is the leader for the front, as was keith wood when it was his time....

great montage....i think the final welsh try was the try of the tournament.... not because it was pretty or anything, but because it showed a team never giving up.....shame it was against the scots though :( why couldnt it have been france or something :'(

    By Anonymous Zed's dead baby...Zed's dead.., at March 30, 2010 1:54 pm

  • Zed definatly agree i just wanted to but the argument out there to see what peoples opinion on it. As for hayes I couldn't agree more that hayes is a talisman and i think between him and O' Driscoll they have driven the team to great sucess! As for hayes' replacement i couldn't tell ya, i think Tony Buckley and Tom Court have showed some hope for future props but there is a lack of props in the provincial sides with BJ Botha, Stan Wright, CJ Van Der Linde and Julien Brugnaut all occupying important prop places!

By Blogger Unknown, at March 30, 2010 2:23 pm

  • on the Byrne - Halfpenny Pass at 8:05
It was a small bit forward, but maybe if Lamont hadn't pushed halfpenny to the ground, he would have been able to get back into position faster.

Anyway. Poor enough 6N IMO. Refs and the new rules had a big part to play in that.

Well done France, and well done Scotland for a good performance.
