The Best tries of the Heineken Cup - Round 2
The standard of tries in the first two rounds of the Heineken Cup has been outstanding as the good weather up north, some positive law interpretations, and a bit of self-belief has all meant we've seen some fantastic running rugby.
There were many games, with many great tries. Most of them have been squeezed into seven minutes of quality action, although obviously some were left out as this should be only the best tries. Some of which you will have seen here on RD earlier in the week, but they're worth re-watching.
The Scarlets produced another classic with the Morgan Stoddart try, while Biarritz showed great precision to get Zee Ngwenya over in the corner against Ulster. Edinburgh, despite being on a losing side, scored three fantastic tries of their own. Shane Williams also scored a classic against London Irish. All of those were featured here so be sure to browse the homepage if you want to watch them again, with replays.
Other than those, there are also excellent tries from Leinster, London Irish, Munster, Toulon, Bath, Castres, Leicester, and Perpignan. Fantastic rugby all round.
With two rounds played, the competition now takes a break as they resume duties in the respective competitions. A much anticipated round three will start up again in December.
There are many contenders, but which was your try of the round?

Great round up! Although it's a pity the Munster disallowed try touched down by Murphy was not in there...Keep them coming

Great tries!! But it misses the Medard try, for me the best of the week-end
By sylvain, at October 22, 2010 1:02 pm
Are you a Toulouse fan then Sylvain? :)
Not everything can be included unfortunately, for a number of reasons. Glad you enjoyed it anyway.

great mix of tries, why can't domestic competitions be such high standard and intensity as H Cup...

First try of Treviso vs Perpignan is a good one with great handling! ;)

Tagicakibau's try is nice especially for the defender trying to stop him by the jersey... Best individual try of the round...? Until you see Shane Williams' one: maybe the best of the round, excellent how he catches the ball in front of taller players...
Sexton's one a good management of the situation with good series of passes...
Edinburgh's tries: good sequence, good support!
Marconnet's one (Biarritz) is try of the week for me, because of Yachvili's vista! What a pass!
Both Castres' tries (one is missing here!) are excellent too, with those kicking passes!
Leicester Ben Youngs: What a feint of pass!
Biarritz Ngwenya's try (second one!): great sequence, with a superb pass from Traille at the beginning, Yachvili always present, and the hooker making a great job in fixing the last defender...
So why do you want to choose one??? ;-) Great week end!

that was an awesome round up of tries!
Team try has to go to Edinburgh - just amazing team play and offloading.
Individual for Shane Williams - great pace and chip ahead.
Loved the first London Irish Try, grat power.
Ben Youngs is going to be awesome for us in the RWC if he carries on like this - Danny Care and Ben Youngs are both great options with skills and pace.

Agree with Bradders - the 2nd Edinburgh try which covers the full length of the pitch in four phases is outstanding...Great hands by the big fellows too...
However that Yachvili pass might just steal it!

Perhaps my age and eyesight are getting the better of me, but some of those inside channel passes were pure magic.

Loved the slo-mo at 4:12
Good stuff.

LOL at Toulon's try, the SH passsed the ball on the halfway line and the player caught it half way between the halfway and 10m line.

I'm angry at Tagicakibau.

That's why I love RUGBY.
In France we say: "Hourra rugby, total rugby, or rugby champagne".
Thank you RD.

Who needs 4 phases when you can do it all in one?
By Anonymous, at October 22, 2010 11:29 pm
Nice. Shane Williams try reminds me Dominici try against the AB in 1999 WC.
But bad choice of overused track.

By Junster, at October 23, 2010 4:41 pm
I would love to see that slow motion during some big hits that would be sick.
By wippy, at October 24, 2010 10:16 am

please could you upload joe simpsons try for wasps against glasgow? apparently it was magical!
By Lidge, at October 26, 2010 12:01 am
As others have said, huge forward pass for the Toulon try against Munster, most forward pass I have ever seen that the ref did not spot.
Such a pity Edinburgh didn't win - their approach in that game really deserved it. Great to watch - pity the Scottish fans don't go to see them.

Tagicakibau ... that try was just epic speed and power
