The Pumas' fantastic 95m soccer style try against Griquas
A fantastic game of rugby took place in the Currie Cup on Friday night as Griquas beat the Pumas 40-33, having led 34-7 at one stage. One of the most enjoyably tries of the game was this effort, that sparked the Pumas comeback.
The game took place at the brilliant Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, which some of you may have experienced during the football World Cup last year. The atmosphere there always seems to be great, even with a small crowd, and it was a soccer style try that got them on their feet.
In the first half Griquas had totally outplayed the home side, scoring five tries of their own to the one of Pumas, building up a hefty lead and looking in a commanding position.
The Pumas then came out with jersey, and attitude, in the second, beginning their amazing comeback with this great effort. It didn't work out quite as planned though, as Griquas held on for a nail-biting finish and a great win.
This try that was finished by JW Jonker was something different however, so I felt it needed to be shared on here. The way that wing Deon Scholtz grabs the Earl Rose turnover, kicks ahead twice then crosses the ball infield for the support was brilliant to watch.

Great try! Lovely kicking
Feel slightly sorry for the Griquas for their mistake after the nice phases that they put together.
Cheers RD.

Funny thing, after the try, they awarded 5 point to the Griquas, not the Pumas

To quote from "Richie Benaud" on The Twelfth Man, what fucking game are we playing here!?
Sublime skills though and probably the right option all three times - if he'd picked it up he'd have been wrapped up by tacklers.
I second JKim's comment - this is the sort of thing that makes Rugbydump so awesome.

Thanx Rugbydump! We can always rely on the Currie Cup for exciting games like this, Griquas are just so entertaining to watch, even if they lost Bjorn Basson, Sharks will be worried this weekend!
