Just another intense rugby compilation

It's the new year and 2009 promises to produce another cracking 12 months of rugby action across the globe. All the biggest names, in the biggest tournaments, as well as the mouth watering British & Irish Lions Tour of South Africa. It should be a feast of rugby, so we hope to be part of it in some way, and hopefully enhance the experience for you.

As always, we like to scour the globe for the best and most enjoyable rugby action available, sharing it with you, the rugby fan.

Being the physical, contact sport that it is, rugby is very much about intensity. It doesn't get any more intense than this video that we've come across, made by a regular RD user and contributor.

The video features all things rugby, which includes both Rugby League and Union action from around the world. While we know some of you don't enjoy the League stuff, plenty do, making this an enjoyable compilation video all in all.

The good thing for the Union fans is that most of that footage is clean, while the League stuff features some massive punch ups from past and present. Overall, it's an action packed video that we felt like sharing. We hope you enjoy, and have a happy new year.

Time: 06:24
Note: As always, we simply show the videos - we dont throw the punches or make the dirty tackles.
Did you enjoy the video for the good moments, or find it in poor taste? We're keen to know your thoughts.

  • This video is disgusting and shows rugby in a very poor light. Rugby League players are mindless, idiotic thugs. The Union clips were really good though, as you'd expect.

  • Some nice clips.. loved the ones of schalk bashing his way through... and the McAllister break.. remember that. awesome.

  • this video shows every thing thats wrong in rugby.
rugby players are not guys who just go to the gym or throw punches.. the video showed guys who act like freaks.
rugby isn't about fights or dirty tackles, this video doesnt shows the love, the respect or the spirit of rugby. instead of this, show clean an effective tackles. although"Try savers and rib breakers" is very very good... try to show that this is the best team sport ever made

  • u can goto town on a saturday night to watch fights like this.

more jpr, campese, shane williams and jason robinson less gym monkeys slapping each other to make up for a lack of talent pls.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 5:15 pm

  • Although not as brutal as the comments above, I would have to agree that this video doesn't really show the skill or players love for the sport. It just seems like a bunch of league punch ups with some good union play thrown in the mix.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 5:17 pm

  • I thought that it was French 2nd division that was strongly associated with poor behaviour and lots of fighting. But there are fights in rugby all over the world in both codes.

By Blogger Dune, at January 04, 2009 5:20 pm

  • Meh i thought it was EPIC, gets you pumped up. So what there was violence, it wasnt even union.

The 2 burger clips was a highlight for me.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 5:33 pm

  • The anonymous really came out in numbers on this post.

Anyways, the clip was a wee bit over dramatic, what with all the Clint Mansell music. The best parts were the bits of tries and hand-offs interlaced between all the punch-ups and shitty fighting.

I do agree that 'Try Savers and Rib Breakers' is a better series.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 5:36 pm

  • Who gives a damn whether it was violent and rough. This website has some of the best skill ever seen on a rugby field and some of the best aggression-as seen in another.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 5:43 pm

  • I think that there were way to many league clips. Rugby league is a less popular sport than Union, so therefore we should be watching less punchups and more great skill. However, i loved the League clip where one of the players runs a switch and passes the ball behind his back. Awesome skill. It would be nice to see more of that than the league punchups. The only punchups we want to see are the ones were a really tiny guy kicks the S*** out of a big guy, or a fight were one player goes to town and destroys the other guy completly. But yet again, rugby is a skilled sport, not a bunch or brutes figting.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 6:15 pm

  • That was terrible. A bunch of idiots fighting each other? With the most overused music you could think of? I'd prefer to see some rugby, since this is rugbydump.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 6:30 pm

  • Change the tune guys! All these 'anonymous' comments are just poor, especially the first one.

You guys are all starting to sound like tv commentators who are under contract to say things like "oh we don't want to see that" when there is a fight yet they all are secretly loving them.

How blind can you be when you say things like "the union clips were really good though, as you'd expect". You guys all talk about rugby league as if its some sort of black magic.

i for one love union, but i don't just pointlessly slag league like some people here do.

Anon in the first comment really is a shining example of this.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 6:30 pm

  • I've never understood the mentality that says fighting in rugby is ok, because it's "no pussy sport". I have no problem with fighting, just do it in a ring. I want to see rugby. I can go watch a documentary about football hooliganism if I want to see a bunch of people beating on each other. Considering how difficult it is to get any rugby footage at all in the US (at least outside major metro areas), RugbyDump is one of my only sources to watch. This vid has some good stuff in it, but nowhere near enough to make it worth sorting through the nonsense.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 6:36 pm

  • There's clips in there of fights from both Union and League.

So not all the Union clips are clean like is being suggested.

I infact cut out alot of Union fights on the basis that the League fights were better. But i understand it's all preference, and alot of people want such incidents cut out of the game.

I personally love to see the ocassional biff(As you can clearly see).

In my defence, the video wasn't made with the intention of being featured on RugbyDump. Nor was there any real effort or preference when making the video; I simply used material i had. Ugly or clean.

Appreciate the feedback still, and will make another video showing only the 'clean' stuff when i get a chance(Ala Why I love Rugby... even though that had a few fights).

    Rancid.

Ps. Bring back the biff ;)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 6:39 pm

  • I dont mind a few fights as long as teh fights are a reflection on a really tense game. If a game that contains plenty of skill and passion and intensity then a fight (or a brief dust up), in my opinion, adds to the high drama of the game. But twith the amount of fights in thsi clip it looked like ice hockey. Rugby involves skill and from more than just one player. More rugby.

Also I don't see why everyone hates rugby league so much :/

    the music is shite

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 6:46 pm

  • Awesome video..
those who hate rugby league are just ignorant, i prefer Union by a mile but one of the tries in that video shows that it is still and exciting and skillful game. Union players could learn alot about how to use kicks effectively from their league counterparts.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 7:36 pm

  • go jimmy go...

you showed a few clips from the munster clermont game, but in a mostly huge hits video you left out the rougerie tackle on dowling?!?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 7:36 pm

  • Why so disgusted???

I mean lets be serious here...someone took the time to put something together. If you don't like it, try to one up it! Everyone is so quick to condemn it, yet rugby compilations are scarce on the internet (compared to other sports).

Thanks for posting it! A video is a video! Sure I agree watching League players take swipes at each other isn't very entertaining, but other then that, good post.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 7:40 pm

  • Its not as bad as people posting are making out, the fights and aggression have always been a part of both formats of rugby going back through time.

So there's no harm in seeing the side of rugby that always has and will continue to exist.

On another note there were quite a few clips of what appear to be the england 7s winger. Any chance of putting those clips together for a bit of a compilation? Haven't seen much of him but he looks impressive.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 7:45 pm

  • way too much fighting in the video, the emphasis should lie in the respectfull treatement for one another with the most decent rugby player and not with the scum. rugby is a hooligans game played by gentlemen and not by childish soccer players

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 9:07 pm

  • everyone is correct. we all enjoy a punchup once in a while - it usually fires up a game but this video has far too much. let the rugby do the talking, if you want a fight then get into the ring

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 9:09 pm

  • Awesome vid as usual, does anyone no the name of the piece of music?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 9:14 pm

  • I'm sorry but I really have to say I hated this video. Sure there are some nice skills shown there but the main focus with epic music is on fighting. I can't watch any game where I live and that's the only thing offered to me? That sucks. I don't even know which part is league or union and i don't mind as long as it's good rugby. This is not good rugby.

Sure some guy put this video together but it hinders rugby more than it helps it. I don't wanna play in a punching game like it's shown here. Rugby is a noble sport where fighting can happen because of the intensity and it should NEVER be put foward as a great part of rugby...even more in a retrospective of the year. I mean come on, Shane Williams (player of the year) wasn't even shown there.

I'm sorry for the guy who did this video but it's plainly not relevant on this website unless it's there to show what rugby ISN'T.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 9:38 pm

  • I see in this video two things, a great work by your part making this compilation with great effects and a big search for some clips and a I appreciate that a lot but in the other hand I see in this video all the things that

DO NOT REPRESENT THE RUGBY SPIRIT

I like to see a video of friendship, loyalty, of guys with guts like Borges tackling Chabal in the RWC, of talent, side step, magic pass, pure aim kicks.

I think that rugby is much more than fights that have nothing to do with the rugby spirit. What about the "Third Time" (no English here) In the gallery of rugby dump there isn't any video of that.

Well I hope you continue with your work that is great.

    (sorry of my poor english)
    Regards from Argentina =)

How class. Given the ball to his mate.

    Great spirit.

  • RD, are we back to 100% now?

By Blogger Don, at January 04, 2009 10:38 pm

  • The vast majority of that was rugby league, which is fine, including alot of the good plays, passes and runs. The tackles and fighting is part of the sport and always has been. Deal with it. I personally love it.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 04, 2009 11:56 pm

  • No more Rugby League. The sport is horrible!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 1:36 am

  • Get the "anti-league" stick out of your ass, you tits.

I play union - I'd never be crazy enough to play league - but I definitely agree with the (unfortunately) anonymous comment above: league utilizes kicking much more effectively than union does; it's really something that flyhalfs should improve on.

To act like watching league causes you pain or discomfort just makes you sound like a whiny shithead.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 1:49 am

  • I found it in poor taste RD

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 2:25 am

  • There's some great clips in this but its overshadowed by all the fights. A lot of league in there too but I suppose if you compare the League Word Cup with the recent Autumn internationals you can see how much the ELVs are messing with Rugby union and maybe its not a bad thing to be watching a bit more league.

Who are the League team in yellow with the try with the pas behind the back ?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 3:01 am

  • I think the complaints are aimed at how boring the video is not that anyone is that bothered about a few slappety slaps. It feels like you're waiting for something to start happening.

Climb down off your high horses with the "omg you must be soft cos u dont want to watch a few random clips of fighting" atitude.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 3:08 am

  • "ladies this is what happens in rugby. take a look at every match from the magners league to some fat fucks playing in a park on saturday. quit crying about how its disgraceful and get over it!"

This is exactly the crap I was talking about in my previous comment. Fighting is *not* "what happens" in rugby. I've seen very, very many matches without fights. There's no reason for it, and no reason to tolerate it. If you want fights, go watch UFC clips.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 4:25 am

  • cut the league shit and the punches and more jerry collins and shane williams

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 5:48 am

  • whoever said people who hate league are ignorant is completley right. I mean how could u love one sport (union) and hate league when they are very similar sports. Yes, they have their diffrneces but Im not sure if some of u people noticed but fights were from league AND union. So enough of the pointless slagging of league it just makes u seem like an arrogant/ ignorant twat.

Also, there probably was too many fights but who cares get over it. I mean unless u have been castrated i see no reason why u cant enjoy watching a fight.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 6:37 am

  • to sum it up: shit video with gay music

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 8:48 am

  • Didn't care for it. I agree with other comments re: too many fights and not enough Union.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 12:22 pm

  • League is like ice hockey. Half the people go to watch the fights.

Only inspiring clip was of schalk showing us how to play sport like a real man.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 2:17 pm

  • Scotty; Odd, considering there isn't much fighting in Rugby League. About the same amount as Union if the truth is told.

Also ironic that you point out Schalk showing us how to play like real men... Considering those 2 hit ups were very League like, and almost identical can be seen in any Rugby League match.

I don't think i'll ever understand the seemingly irrational dislike between Union and League fans, considering.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 2:43 pm

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 2:45 pm

  • i don't like this video,
Rugby league players have very bad behaviours: dangerous tackles, coward punchs, disrespectul "footballer" celebrations...

Where are actions? team tries? fighting spirit? fairplay?
Solo tries are great to see but rugby is more than a sprint...

By Blogger Flooz, at January 05, 2009 3:19 pm

  • Rugby league players have very bad behaviours: dangerous tackles, coward punchs, disrespectul "footballer" celebrations...

    ...............

What dangerous tackles? You'll find with the nature of Rugby League defense, there is far less lifting in the tackle, which takes a hell of alot of dirty tackles out of the game.

Unless you're counting tackling with your shoulder as dirty? In which case you're soft.

There is no cowardly League punches in the video either. Most those fights were fair. Which is alot more than you get in French Union.

And there is 0 football celebration in Rugby League lmao. There's about one football celebration every 5 years. Compare this to the homo erotic NFL-like celebrating by some of the Leicester and Wasps lads this year! A bit of niggle from one of the Tongans after a try, but nothing you haven't seen in Union... Infact Union is played in such a way that niggle after the try is more prevelant(More men both defending and attacking the try line)

Basically the point i'm trying to get at is you're an idiot. And most people downing Rugby League as a sport are morons who clearly haven't watched League. It's pot calling the kettle black if i've ever seen it.

If you don't like League you don't like League. There's really no need to spew uninformed drivvel and make slanderous(And mainly false) comments.

    The irony is unreal.

  • rugby
    Union and League
shows the rugby is such a rich world

By Blogger Murshidi Mohd, at January 05, 2009 4:20 pm

  • I agree with everyone else, I feel that this video is everything that we DON'T want people to think of when they think about rugby. We all know that rugby is so much more than fighting and mindless punching, every time I see a punch being thrown at any of my club matches, professional, league and especially union matches I feel a bit embarassed. I enjoy the videos which display the great fends, steps, team/individual tries. That's a lot more inspiring than mindless (ehum, league) rugby. I don't want people to actually believe we're dumb as dumb as they assume rugby players are?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 4:30 pm

  • ...I am sure and I know league players sure have a lot of talent. But I feel that we should see more of that in videos than punches etc, becuase that's all i seem to find...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 4:32 pm

  • i agree that Rugby league is very interesting in terms of defense or tackles,

..but why we always see/listen public/players/commentators completly excited after coathanging or shoulder tackles...?

i don't say that union players are angels (just look PO'C with cudmore)but the reactions in rugby league let me think that's very near from NFL spirit

By Blogger Flooz, at January 05, 2009 4:48 pm

  • ps: debate is debate.

whatever we prefer union, league, soccer or curling, don't take it too personnally. the fact that I prefer one sport than another doesn't mean disrepect.
Furthermore, be fair and don't treat one opinion such as "idiot" should be a good way. no? we can't please to everyone ;)

    insults are for youtube

By Blogger Flooz, at January 05, 2009 4:59 pm

  • Reactions to what? Fights and big hits. Sure, fans and commentators a like love them(As do alot of Union fans and commentators)

Shoulder charges are LEGAL in Rugby League. And rightly so. So of course League fans are going to enjoy seeing them.

Nobody cheers on clotheslines or coathangers though. Some commentators might be percieved as excited because alot of NRL commentators are very charismatic... Excited, that's a bad word because it implies some sort of underlying acceptance or support for clotheslining someone in the way you're wording yourself.

It's not different than boxing commentators getting hyped at the sight of a headbut or elbow going in. Doesn't mean they agree or condone the incident. But it's a noteable event within a match that adds to the drama and tension, so 'excitement' usually ensues.

The basic point is you obviously haven't watched enough of League to make an informed and proper opinion. Highlighted by the non-existant 'differences' you're trying to point out.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 5:12 pm

  • And i don't care if you don't like Rugby League.

I know most people on here don't. What i'm objecting to is people who are slandering Rugby League with false assumptions and blatant lies.

It's really not an issue that you don't like RL.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 5:15 pm

  • C'mon 4:20 and 5:27.

in 4:20 a guy scores a try and then he shout in the face of the rival, thats NOT rugby that is another sport. In rugby we have respect, for Us and for the Rival, and the ref. If you don't agree with that then play another sport..

And in 5:27, thats is cowardly.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 5:18 pm

  • poor video.
i was expecting to see some good actions and I end up with drunks fight.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 5:28 pm

  • This video is pretty brutal, it's just fights, which is sad because of the brilliant rugby that's been played this year.
All the League clips were just fights, and half of the Union clips were of after-the-play punches. There's no merit in showing these fights, what purpose does it serve? There's so much more to the game then fists, but sadly this video fails to showcase that. As well, half the "big hits" here are illegal, as they're either high or done without wrapping (referring to the Union clips), so whats to celebrate there?
Create another that shows the true beauty of rugby, not the stupid brutishness you've decided to put on offer here.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 5:33 pm

  • Give me a fucking break.

You obviously haven't watched much Union if you're trying to pin that as something that happens strictly in League.

Infact, that is the first time i've EVER seen that happen League.

Why do you choose to ignore when the same happens in Union? I've lost count of the amount of times a try scorer has placed the ball on the defenders head... Patted the defender on the head in a dickhead manner... started rolling around trying to wrestle with the defender/try scorer(Lewis Moody with the try scorer atleast every game he plays!)

There's even been fights in Union after a try has been scored.

    .....

I am not trying to say it doesn't happen in League. But it's hypocrisy at its finest.

And i'm not trying to condone it either. I'm not keen on the NFL-esque faggotry that is leaking into both codes in terms of rubbishing your opposition and being an arrogant bellend.

At the same time. As i stated before. I threw this video together as something to put on my Youtube page for Christmas, as i was getting nagged by viewers to upload a video.

There was literally no effort or thought process in the video. I put all my clips into a timeline, arranged them a little, played with the lighting and playback speed, and added a song.

If i removed every clip percieved to be a poor representation of the game i'd have had an incomplete video.

It's also humourous that this negative video has so many replies... Yet when Grant was posting this 'real', 'good', 'clean' rugby you're all referring to and calling out for... None of you were interested in them! Got about 8 replies each.

Some people just whinge and whine for the sake of it. It's really no wonder he can't be arsed posting much videos these days. Can do no right.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 5:34 pm

  • The scale of prejudice and ignorance about league shown here is laughable. I played union at school and league at university. That's right, I'm not an idiot/thug and enjoyed the game for its lines of running/offloading, thunderous hits, and imaginative attacking plays.
I still love union too but get off your high horses and give league the respect it deserves.
As for the video, nice one RD, nothing wrong with a bit of biff now and then, we're not toddlers.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 6:21 pm

  • wow what a great video, yet again well done rugbydump. i love the intensity of the video!!

Rugby is an aggressive, and there are always going to be fights.. i wouldnt want it any other way, thats the way all rugby is; you fight on the pitch then have a good crack afterwards when we all have a drink in the pub.

there are some idiotic comments on here. and i get the feeling some people would like it to be more like football sometimes.

Great to see benji marshall @ 1:10 great bit of skill, what a player.. i would love to see him play union!! but i dont think that will ever happen.

2009 is going to be an awesome year for rugby and i can't wait to see future videos posted on rugbydump... Happy New year everyone

  • As a rugby player, i understand that in reality the incidents shown in this video are rare and in stark contrast to the principles of the game; respect, strength and comradery, and therefor, seeing the rare outbursts, are abit of excitment, taken with a large pinch of salt, however, to people outside the game, this really isn;t the message we want to be portraying...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 7:21 pm

  • I think it was realy exciting and shows rugby too be a proper rough game the tackles that is, but it had too many fights in it may be next time have some less fightand more tackles

  • I understand why people want to display the good side and positives of rugby but come on, who doesn't like to watch a good punch up once in a while?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 8:23 pm

  • Do not let the Olympics Council see this video!!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 8:42 pm

  • You dont need to make a video with bunch of fights and dirty hits to show rugby is intense
and cut the league shit plz
    no1 likes league
league is for pple w/ no talent xcept fighting

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 10:27 pm

  • And as for Dave401's comment, not every1 wants to watch a punch-up once in a while (me for example)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 10:28 pm

  • I'd like to see more long distance tries, more try savers, and less fights !

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 11:06 pm

  • anon for 11:27-11:28 you come across as a prick trying to provoke a response. If ure going to make a comment like that think it through properly. If u actually think wat u said is true u must be one of the most idiotic people on the planet. And as for league players possesing no talent besides fighting u couldnt be more wrong. Have u heard of players like

    preston cambell
    scott prince
    andrew johns
    billy slater
    greg inglis
    isreal folau
    mark gasnier
    benji marshall
    bret stewart
    etc etc
the list goes on but back to my main point your comments just show u wat a narrow minded tool u are.

    Thnx for the video rancid
    and thnx RD

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 05, 2009 11:23 pm

  • very bad....wouldnt expect that sort of stuff and a MMA fight....show more big tackles instead of small winey punchs

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 12:14 am

  • League's a good sport. Fighting is great, I love ice hockey because of it. It only happens every once in a while anyway. If you talk like it's gonna bring down the sport or something you're probably new to rugby. There's always been fighting, always will be, it's a good part of the game. Deal with it, you soft as *&^%$ girly men.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 12:27 am

  • insted of commenting on the other comments, I will just say: good job. I liked how the hard side of rugby was shown here.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 4:56 am

  • don't you understand rancid?
everyone hates your shit league video.

    it has no purpose

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 7:05 am

  • Love your work !

    Good Show

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 8:39 am

  • ^ Anonymous.

I didn't make this video for anyone who frequents this site. So i honestly couldn't care.

Have i critiscised or objected to anyone for saying they don't like the video? No. It's a video on the internet, it's really not the end of the world if people don't like it.

What i'm objecting too is idiot Union fans who don't know their arse from their elbow. Which would include you.

I don't work for RugbyDump or upload any videos on RugbyDump. I didn't ask Grant to put up this video. He mentioned he might put it up and checked that i was good with that, and i was.

Not only that, but i suggested to him it would probably get mainly negative feedback anyway. Because i'm aware of the number of whiny fuckwits on Rugbydump these days.

I'm sure Grant would be more than happy for you to submit your own videos. Though i doubt you have the mental intellect to download the software, let alone create a video.

I'll await your obviously insightful response ;)

  • gday boys, im a league player and have never really liked union, but am starting to follow it/understand it more and its a good game, got some great talent and skill. and love this site.

id just like to pay a bit of a tribute to rugby league back rower sonny fai, who has gone missing presumed drowned after trying to save his brother from a rip on a beach in auckland.

sonny was a 6'4 109kg frame who was devastating in attack and defence and was a star of the future. he was considered to be the next sonny bill williams and showed great potential. i think from the rugby world in general we should show our condolences for his family and friends, by the adminstrators posting a tribute video if you can find any footage.

its sad that a great football talent, and a decent young blokes life was lived way too breifly.

anyways boys, theres my two cents, and league and union are both great games, so stop fuckin arguing and embrace them both for what they are

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 10:53 am

  • I don't really like the fights, that's not what rugby is about. Would rather have the same clip of quality league and union rugby, god know with this year's guinness premiership and the Rugbly League World Cup, there's plenty around.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 11:10 am

  • Joel's comment pretty much sums it up nicely.

    Build a bridge guys...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 11:14 am

  • Wow this video pumped me up alright!! I'm so pumped that i want to throw my laptop away for wasting my download speed on some crap video that showed me nothing about rugby union and more about league and how many Bi*^% slaps they were giving each other...pfft!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 12:25 pm

  • I have to agree with Diogo Dabadie, there is a bit too much of an emphasis on battering in this video. Rugby is about a lot more than mere strength, which is why is is such a good game.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 12:49 pm

  • Reading some of these comments about how there's too many fights in this video and how it's too brutal actually made me throw up in my mouth a little bit.
    I actually feel sick.
Go back to badmiton, you little, whiny girls.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 2:49 pm

  • I have no problem with you showing punch ups or dirty tackles. Both league and union are tough sports with alot of physical contanct.

The psychology of both the game and the play ground dictate that you should never shy away from a bully. If a player doesn't want a punch, he shouldn't act the cunt.

If anybody is under the allusion that rugby is about floppy haired wingers receiving some slick passing and finishing beautifully in the corner, they are delusional themselves. I'm cocksure even the great JPR Williams was prone to the odd sneaky slap.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 2:50 pm

  • Emense vid its what rugby is all about. Made better by the atmospheric music.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 7:23 pm

  • en el rugby no se pelea se juega.
y los 3er tiempos se disfrutan

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 7:38 pm

  • has everybody lost there mind rugby isnt about love its about amazing tries and big hits and the fights show that people who play rugby arnt footballers.fight and big hits are the spirit of rugby and rd have got that right.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 9:02 pm

  • i have to say that this is the best rugby site ever, keep up the good work
    thanks

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 06, 2009 9:08 pm

  • good. dont know why everyones moaning do much, its just to get you pumped. and plus theres a bit of everything so...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 07, 2009 12:15 am

  • WELL I THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD VIDEO!

hey these things happen....so why not get entertained by them....

    Good job RD!!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 07, 2009 1:30 am

  • great vid...loved it...

    Keep em coming

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 07, 2009 1:57 am

  • Bring back the biff!
Fights are great, anyone who doesn't like them is either a girly man or a winger, which is basically the same thing.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 07, 2009 4:26 am

  • what music is this?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 07, 2009 4:36 am

  • music? what is it? anyone?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 07, 2009 4:37 am

  • clint mansell, requiem for a dream

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 07, 2009 6:31 am

  • I just commented before...i think i was being abit biased before. I don't really like League AT ALL and prefer Union over ANYTHING! But watching it again, i think i can appreciate that the biff is part of our rugby culture whether its league or union, and i also appreciate that its probably the only 2 sports in the world that can be played by real men! Soo ignore my comment before :D

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 07, 2009 10:59 am

  • super retarded... let the olympic board see that for sevens... make us look like we can't control our testosterone and that we are a bunch of misfits... Ridiculous...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 07, 2009 1:15 pm

  • Too much League- watered down rugby for thick northerners (and Aussies)!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 07, 2009 2:24 pm

  • well kiddos, the title says it all. "just another intense rugby compilation". it doesnt say anyhting about showing good rugby or bad rugby, its just a compilations of intense rugby moments. if you want viedoes of rugby in "good light" or how its supposed to be played, search for best tries or whatever, and dont bash someones work for what it is. it is what it is and thats all that it is.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 07, 2009 9:42 pm

  • "Anonymous said...
super retarded... let the olympic board see that for sevens... make us look like we can't control our testosterone and that we are a bunch of misfits... Ridiculous..."

.......i know you are but what am i?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 07, 2009 10:07 pm

  • Yeah because the Olympic organisation is going to deny sevens rugby entry to the Olympics because one of them sees a video on youtube. I guess they'll ban tai kwon do, wrestling, boxing and all other contact sports from the Olympics too right? After all they are a bunch of pathetic, snivelling girls, like the people on this board complaining about the 'scary men fighting'.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 08, 2009 12:20 am

  • nice.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 08, 2009 10:50 am

  • i thought it was great. and for those sayin there are too many league fights theres just as many union ones in that vid, a lot from the NPC. i can see wellington in there, i can even see english teams- wasps, leicester. just so happens that the league ones are often on a larger scale so thats why it seems like its only league.
so stop whinging like pussys and give the bloke who made it some credit... OR come up with a better video and post it!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 08, 2009 1:20 pm

  • wow, was not expecting such a huge amount of reaction to this one.. must say tho:

-Dont mind the fights, but I'd much rather see awesome play. (your random tries of 2008 video was incredible)

-Make the cuts a little longer. I want to actually be able to make sense of what the heck is going on

-Unlike some, didn't mind the music, altho generally I'd rather associate a vid with commentary, the voices are famous/familiar for a reason

By Blogger haberlae, at January 08, 2009 7:27 pm

  • i dont think this video is a rugby compilation because it doesn't show what rugby really is

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 09, 2009 4:17 am

  • Rancid .. I agree with pretty much all you've said in your replies .. some people are so quick to show their ignorance of both Union and League with their stupidity and prejudice that you just have to ignore them. I sometimes wonder if they've ever properly watched a game in either code in their life. The whole video might not be to my taste but you have no obligation to cater just to me ... I still understand why you put it together.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 09, 2009 7:00 am

  • RANCID

Please ignore the whinging c&*ts that are ragging on your vid. I like a 'bit of biff' and it is clearly a well made video.
The nerds commenting on here clearly would not have the where with all or creativity to make something like this.

And to all you whining good goodies going about there being no place for fighting in rugby. Have you ever played a rugby match? God, get a life

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 09, 2009 5:18 pm

  • Y does everyone hate league
look theres nothing rong ith fighting aslongs as you dont use wepons and each side has got da same amount of poeple.
this is showing how competitive rugby is and there unioun fights in there so y aint u complaining about them.

    The music was aufel!!!!!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 09, 2009 8:25 pm

  • brilliant hit at 4:44, didn't even break his stride. All the punch ups are a bit unrepresentative of the two codes as a whole though

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 09, 2009 11:26 pm

  • Y'know folks...i love rugby but i sometimes wish we were allowed once in a while to lay into each other, like league players do, i mean Union players are alot bigger and id think they'd spill quite a bit of A+ / O- ...lol..imagine Schalk and Jerry goin at it, wow.

No seriously theres no room for fighting in Union...glad for that.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 10, 2009 12:30 am

  • There's plenty of room for the occaisonal punch up. Any rugby player worth his salt will have gotten into a scrap or two in his career, I've been in loads and I just play recreationally.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 10, 2009 1:19 am

  • im a union fan from a union city but everyone needs to lay off league. if you watched the rugby league world cup you would see some of the talent in even the small sides like the tongans, its just unreal, as well as the likes of benji marshall, probably the best attacking rugby player regardless of code in the world. the people complaining about this video are just pathetic, you know nothing about league, so dont just say ridiculous things like its a game for thugs, there are plenty of union players out for a fight. i guarantee the majority of people moaning about this video either dont play rugby or are the types that have to get subbed when their boots get dirty. grow a pair.
awesome video RD, shame there seems to be snobbery towards league.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 10, 2009 4:21 pm

  • toooooo much rugby league the whole way through the video

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 10, 2009 6:29 pm

  • It's Requiem for a Tower, not Requiem for a Dream - that's a movie, definitely worth watching if you're a fan of Jennifer Connelly.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 11, 2009 1:49 am

  • very good vid. of course it doesnt show the best things of rugby, but it shows parts of rugby that exist, and, either you like it or not, it gets u pumped up.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 11, 2009 1:02 pm

  • What's the music please ?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 11, 2009 7:57 pm

  • that shows how tight is the limit between violence and agressivity (in the game and that's part of our sport.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 12, 2009 2:26 pm

  • ive played rugby league and union all my life! ive grown up around leicester which is a very big rugby area!but i still prefer league. the difference is that league players have come from a rough backgound so it tends to boil over alot while rugby union players are mostly publie school!

wat is the name of the song?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 12, 2009 7:23 pm

  • league is disgusting and i dont think you should include it

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 12, 2009 7:30 pm

  • I love videos like this - a shame the fights werent all a bit longer, but all in all a great job!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 12, 2009 9:53 pm

  • palmito how the fuck is league didscusting!ure discusting for saying that! unless uve got something decent to say dont say anything and waste out time! league flows better than union as their are less penalties but union is a better structured game! wat the name of this song?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 12, 2009 10:25 pm

  • the name of the song is for a dream by requiem

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 13, 2009 2:32 pm

  • League players are mindless idiotic thugs huh? Does that include Jason Robinson, Lote Tuqiri, Rocky Elsom, Wycliff Palu, Brad Thorn or any of the other dozens of players who have played both league and union proffesionally? Or it's only relevant when some idiot who knows sweet F all about league wants to make a random, mindless generalisation about a sport they know nothing about, which happens to be almost the same sport as the one they so stridently defend?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 14, 2009 10:27 pm

  • Loved the offloads though...
