Midweek Madness - Davit Zirakashvili funny try

We came across this rather amusing try from the recent match between Clermont and Bayonne in the French Top 14.

Big Georgian prop Davit Zirakashvili dived over for this funny looking five pointer after kicking the ball ahead clumsily.

The look on the big guy's face as he realised he'd possibly fluffed it was priceless.

It only took a few seconds though for him to realise that ball had bounced off the corner flag and stayed in play. So along with the help of one of the opposition players, who gave him a nice push in the back, he pounced on the loose ball for one of the most unique prop tries you're likely to see.

i usually hate the people who complain about the music but that was terrible.... why not just have the commentators

There was nothing that back could have done, but he really should have known better and tried to dive on the ball.

Doesn't matter though, this was a hilarious try!

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong...but isn't the ball out of play if it hits the corner flag? I mean it's the law that if you hit the corner flag when you're diving to score, you're in touch - doesn't the same apply to the ball?

Had no choice but to boot it forward, the pass looked like it came from someone as tall as Shane Williams. I love that he gets shoved on to the ball by the defense!!

I think people are being very unfair. I think that was a great finish by an extremely gifted rugby footballer.

Thought the music was brilliant too and fit very well with the clip. I'm going to use this for training purposes - both the video and the music, that is.

That music sounded like the bastard child of the bastard child of Kraftwerk. Absolutely terrible (and I like Kraftwerk).

Cool clip though.
I always love the RD videos that:
- show nuances of law
- show the reward of players who chase missed PKs, hustle and play to the whistle.

In this case Davit did both, and got a fiver for his effort.
