School of Hard Knocks 2010 - Episode 4

The School of Hard Knocks returns on RD today with episode four of this fascinating series. We catch up with the group of unemployed youngsters from East London as they are put through their paces both on and off the field as they head towards their first proper rugby match.

In this episode you’ll see them head on over to Saracens to train with one of the top sides in the Guinness Premiership. While it’s a great experience, the reality of rugby is that disaster can strike at any moment, shocking some of the other young players.

Later on they finally get into it, playing their first training match which turns out to be a great performance, bringing everyone a helluva lot closer to where they want to be.

Heading to North Wales for a bit of training and team building, reality once again hits home as they’re pushed to their limit with both the weather and the food situation.

On the pitch we then see that some of the so-called ‘hard men’ aren’t quite as tough as they think as the mud and physicality takes its toll. Teambuilding then follows as they head into the hills for some rock and river climbing. Things end badly though.

Once again it’s another enjoyable episode in a great series. More episodes to follow soon.

Note: Some of you couldn't view part two for some reason. You can here now.

  • Shouldn't they sub some of the "Jamaican" boys instead of the Lithuanian one? I for one understand him perfectly. I'm not a native speaker though.

Thanks for the episode, great series.

  • These lads take themselves way too seriously, they talk a good game and act like tough guys but when push comes to shove they're soft as shit on the field.

Somebody needs to give them all a slap a tell them to grow up.

Makes for good watching though, cheers RD.

  • This show is really irritating and takes itself far too seriously, why does RD trumpet it so much? Is there an advertising deal in place?

By Anonymous Hugh, at May 06, 2010 5:36 pm

  • Unfortunately not, Hugh.

It's just a harmless show that is pretty enjoyable for most rugby players/fans, so once committed to posting the whole thing, I might as well stick to it, right?

Each to their own though. No need to hit play if you're not into it.

Out of interest though, how would you improve the show? This season seems far better than last imo.

  • "takes itself far too seriously"

What would you prefer, everyone wears chicken suits and runs around to Benny Hill music?

    Stop being a cunt.

  • the guys on this show do need to just snap out of their bravado and realise that if they don't help each other no-one will be there to help them on game day!

  • Cool show, wish we had something similar here.

    Thanks for posting RD
